Welcome to the August Flylady thread. This is a lovely friendly thread where we loosely follow the Flylady system (see the Flylady website ) in the hope of having organised homes and lives.

This is the August thread so I am reliably informed that it is usually more of a general chat thread. Links won’t be posted by an official ‘thread leader’ every day but I will leave some links in this OP. Please do familiarise yourself with the Flylady website, especially if you are new. The Flylady is (understandably) keen that people do look at the website.

On the website there is information for beginners. You can also sign up to the Flylady emails but we would advise caution as there are hundreds of them.

We post our achievements (ta das) and our to do lists and any other general chatter about life / flying.

Information on getting started: www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/

The launch pad is also a good starting place:www.flylady.net/c/lp.php

Fly stands for Finally Loving Yourself. The general idea is that short bursts of tidying / organisation are more achievable than marathon efforts. Flylady advises 15 minute bursts is effort but you can tweak this to fit your own circumstances.

Be kind to yourselves, jump in where you are and be careful not to crash and burn!

A daily summary (which should update automatically every day) is available on the Flylady website at flight plan here.

The link to the current zone and missions is [[http://www.flylady.net/c/sp.php#missions here].

Re. zones, do what works for you. I don’t always stick to the zones myself and do what works best at the time, with varying degrees of success!

Yep that does not sound like a fun way to get washed SC Epsom salts were brilliant and really helped. Need to get moving else I will seize up. I am resisting all movement atm.

foxessocks · 19/08/2018 13:41

Oops sc I have been talking to dh about Christmas today! But all in all I'm going to try and be pretty laid back about it this year...

Ta da
Bought dd school shoes!
Bought ds a few birthday presents
Went to the bank
Picked up few groceries
Dishwasher on
Ds down for nap

To do
Put washing on
Tidy up generally
Dinner - lamb steaks mash potatoes and veg
Decluttering - yesterday I did skincare so I either need to rope dh in today to do last bits of clothing and toys in loft plus computer games or I need to move on to make up. I also need to do jewellery but dh has made me a wooden shelf with special little places for earrings and hooks for necklaces but he hasn't varnished it yet (it was meant to be for my birthday a month ago , I will forgive him as he's had a lot on his plate!)

Really gasping for a Brewnow wonder if I can convince dh to stick the kettle on.

foxessocks · 19/08/2018 16:09

Ta da
Big general tidy up of toys
Washing on
Laundry folded and put away
Dh has painted shelves in our living room which makes a big difference!
Unloaded dishwasher / reloaded
Enquired about new toddler / cookery class thing for ds which I'm quite excited about! Grin nice to have something just for me and him

foxessocks · 19/08/2018 16:10

To do
Decluttering
Cook dinner

IVEgotthePOWER · 19/08/2018 16:26

So. Today i think i have decided i have had enough of this pointless 'relationship'. After another weekend of doing 95% of everything and feeling like i have 5 dc not 4 i am just like what is the point.

Plan is to get settled in new job first. However that could make things boil over anyway.

Ha hum.

HillsBesideTheSea · 19/08/2018 16:38

Sorry you have had to come to this decision Ive wishing you all the strength and courrage you need to create the life you want!

HillsBesideTheSea · 19/08/2018 16:41

Work network is down. Can get work work done Hmm Not hugely surprised there were problems with it on friday.

Ta da
put clothes on
pop to shops
eat some food

Going to be honest I think I am ready for bed already. Blush last week clearly took a huge toll on me. And I need to be firing on all cylinders tomo and the rest of the week.

HillsBesideTheSea · 19/08/2018 16:42

*can't get not can get. technology can be good but it is very hindered with broken networks

CassandraLamontaigne · 19/08/2018 16:52

Best of luck as you plan the next step for yourself.

hills I hope you get to bed early

Tada
Loads of washing and drying (not sure how many)
Hoovered house (finally)

To do
Put away laundry
Pack cases for baby and me, we have to go to a funeral tomorrow so will be away for the week
Sort baby's old clothes out and put away

Tidy kitchen

Spreadingcudweed · 19/08/2018 17:47

Sorry you have to make that awful decision I've but you absolutely need to do what is best for you and your dc. Flowers Wine Flowers.

Spreadingcudweed · 19/08/2018 17:52

Guests stayed for nearly three hours and spoke in rapid French without pause for breath. My brain is fried.

Spreadingcudweed · 19/08/2018 17:53

Safe travelling Cassandra and I hope the funeral is as much a comfort as these things can be Flowers

Spreadingcudweed · 19/08/2018 18:02

Foxes I must confess that I also mentioned Christmas to DH a couple of days back; in the context of my recovery from op and getting all godchildren and nephews and nieces Amazon tokens this year instead of faffing around with parcels!! And must get ahead with office presents well in advance!! So I am guilty too!! Smile

Sleep well Hills!!

Bowerbird5 · 19/08/2018 18:44

We've been to Holy Island Lindisfarne today. Oh how I want a holiday here next year. There are some beautiful cottages for holiday let. I think a week there would be very restorative. I'm going to look into it. It is so peaceful. Had a lovely cup of tea and carrot cake, delicious. This was after walking to the castle, garden and to the Abbey.unfortunately the har was in and we could hardly seen over to the Farnese Islands.
Went to Mass in a very quaint church at Seahouses in the morning. Going out shortly for a meal.
Feel totally relaxed just what I needed.
SC more visitors 😳
Cags thought of you today and how much your children would enjoy it here. We listened to a short talk about the castle. There is an art installation there at the moment from dyeing wool.
Cass thinking of you.
Hills I don't have a bath just a shower thankfully it is better than SCs.

Spreadingcudweed · 19/08/2018 19:40

Ahhh, the mention of Seahouses takes me back Bower!

Eat you crazy woman!

Bowerbird5 · 19/08/2018 22:33

zoo they look great. Wow! You have done loads. They better appreciate it. Sounds very organised.

I've my heart goes out to you but if he is anything like DH he won't get any better. The thing I don't understand is why they can't consider changing their behaviour. DH works away from home so I always have a bit of space.

Just been for a lovely meal in Bamburgh. A seafood platter to share then DH had lamb cutlets on sauté potatoes and smashed peas. He then had a cheese board and I had a lovely lemon tart with berries. I risked it but declined the cream. We had a night cap of local gin. I had an Alnwick rhubarb and strawberry what do you add to it...more gin! Ready for sleep now.😊

Stilllivinginazoo · 19/08/2018 22:49

Sounds like a lovely evening bower

So sorry ive sounds very much like the right choice. Time to start getting your ducks in a row. Really glad you've got the job lined up!

Unproductive day. Supposed to be unpacking tomorrow. Blah.

Bowerbird5 · 19/08/2018 23:19

I forgot to say he did come with me. I told him I wanted to speak to him in the garden. I told him I was going away that I need to have a break, that I had told him that. I said I didn't know where I was going but I could take him to collect one of the DSs cars as I would be taking ours. I asked why he had led me to believe we were going away then didn't. He said while he was looking for accommodation he lost the flights I said 'Did it not occur to you to say? I thought you were going to surprise me with where we were going and I was quite excited." Apparently he didn't then he went on about the kitchen.
Then he suddenly said he would take me to Holy Island if I wanted. And here we are. Two nights away! Better than nothing and I have enjoyed it but a pity it couldn't have been longer. Men!
I think the painting idea is great and think I will research that and try and book a weekend for myself.😊

Bowerbird5 · 19/08/2018 23:21

Banana and cheese? Together?
I used to have cheese and pineapple for school most days at primary. We didn't have school dinners at that school only on a Friday.
