Fledglings are awesome in August - the Flylady thread

Welcome to the August Flylady thread. This is a lovely friendly thread where we loosely follow the Flylady system (see the Flylady website ) in the hope of having organised homes and lives.

This is the August thread so I am reliably informed that it is usually more of a general chat thread. Links won’t be posted by an official ‘thread leader’ every day but I will leave some links in this OP. Please do familiarise yourself with the Flylady website, especially if you are new. The Flylady is (understandably) keen that people do look at the website.

On the website there is information for beginners. You can also sign up to the Flylady emails but we would advise caution as there are hundreds of them.

We post our achievements (ta das) and our to do lists and any other general chatter about life / flying.

Information on getting started: www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/

The launch pad is also a good starting place:www.flylady.net/c/lp.php

Fly stands for Finally Loving Yourself. The general idea is that short bursts of tidying / organisation are more achievable than marathon efforts. Flylady advises 15 minute bursts is effort but you can tweak this to fit your own circumstances.

Be kind to yourselves, jump in where you are and be careful not to crash and burn!

*
A daily summary (which should update automatically every day) is available on the Flylady website at flight plan here.

The link to the current zone and missions is [[http://www.flylady.net/c/sp.php#missions here].

Re. zones, do what works for you. I don’t always stick to the zones myself and do what works best at the time, with varying degrees of success!

Happy flying everyone.

I felt all blah this afternoon as my friends left after a flying visit and I felt bored and lonely! As I didn't have any energy to do anything productive with the day like unpacking.

I really wanted a takeaway but I was sensible and used up a load of random stuff in the fridge/freezer. Had to chuck a few bits as well but definitely better than before. Still needs improvement!

Spreadingcudweed · 18/08/2018 19:37

Ta da cont'd/...

dog walks X 2
cleared snd cleaned out one car
3 card games with dd

Spreadingcudweed · 18/08/2018 19:38

Well done for resisting the call of the take out CAG!

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 18/08/2018 20:05

Hello all, I popped on quickly to try to catch up on the thread but there have been so many posts!

Just wanted to belatedly say SC, re. name changes, that I have always been very jealous of admired the fact you had the idea to go by initials as it lets you be known but name change all the time.

We have had a lovely few days at my in-laws and are off on holiday super early tomorrow morning!

So,tada
Washing- filthy soft toys done and in dryer.filthy cushions from girls room in machine(darn covers done come off)
Clear up and Sweep living room floor
Clear table,scrub and spray
Empty kitchen bin
Apply tray (frozen) Mediterranean veg and cubes of sweet potato to oven
Sat on arse clock watching for it to be ready
Consumed with grated cheese(added to hot veg.yum)and some bread

I may have to go rmage for a bag crisps as still bit nibbly!

I now vegetating in front of TV

My to do before zoolets get back is frighteningly long still.....(I'm ok whilst slaving away,it's when I stop(like now) I start pining in a pathetic fashion.i keep telling myself tomorrow night it's last night alone as they be back Monday teatime/evening-depend on traffic)

Did I mention I engage in chitchat at shop today?I can see why elderly people want to chat in shops.its very very lonely rattling around in house by self...

Spreadingcudweed · 18/08/2018 21:20

Hope you have a really lovely time Toostressy!! Have fun!!

Glad you are sorting follow up appt Zoo!! And glad to hear you are vegetating (finally)!! You're maternal instinct puts me to shame; is it wrong to say I quite enjoy it when dd goes away for a few days? Blush. Obviously miss her lots and lots, but equally it's nice to have a break from the adolescent angst from time to time!

We have just eaten supper outside with bats flying around our heads. DD has speaker wi-fi thing in courtyard that allows us each to have choice of music tracks; which of course has descended in to disputes!!

Spreadingcudweed · 18/08/2018 21:32

Argh; "your" not "you're"!!

Stilllivinginazoo · 18/08/2018 21:36

I think it's just it's me and them 98%of the time.i with them 24/7 and I don't have a life outside of them SC so I notice the change of routine very keenly as it's so intrenched...if they were here now lil zoo would've pop head in door ten mins ago go stop reading.ds be pop in and out asking if he can come watch TV with dd2 and I(she shoos him off)
Weird thing is I watch exactly same TV when they not here!!

Spreadingcudweed · 18/08/2018 22:00

Yes Zoo I can totally understand how three away creates much more of a hole than just one!

Toostressy Just had the thought that you could become Tressympa (can't find accents on here!!) or TotallyStylish or similar!! Grin

Bowerbird5 · 18/08/2018 22:14

Very brief top in. I got away. Staying near Holy Island. Weather better here than home. Going to Holy Island tomorrow and Bamburgh Castle. Good advice from BF.

Thanks Honu.
I think we are going to go with Everhot. Is it warm enough in winter I am hoping it will heat the kitchen in winter. We don't like rooms red hot but chill taken off. Which one have you got? We are thinking of the 110i What colour do you have? It is such an expense I don't want to make a mistake. I went to a cookery demo which was excellent. We saw one of the new AGAs they are pretty good and much cheaper than previous but think I prefer the older style.

Had a lovely meal tonight, fish. Feeling much more relaxed but might be the wine. Thanks for the support. I sometimes wonder if I am being unreasonable.

Spreadingcudweed · 18/08/2018 22:31

YANBU Bower and yay for getting away! And to such a fantastic part of the country! We used to stay in Beadnell when I was a child. Brilliant beaches! You could visit Alnwick Castle, go to Lindisfarne or see the wild cattle at Chillingham. There is so much to do there! Hope you have a lovely time!

Cagliostro · 18/08/2018 23:17

Caught up. Zoo thank you for the heads up re top trumps. But if you mean a normal 30 card top trump dinosaurs, we already have them. :o In fact as someone picked a set up in a charity shop, we have ended up with two copies. Blush I would really love to send you one of them? Please 😘 if you PM address I can just stick them in a padded envelope next time I'm near the post office xx

Bower yay!

More chatting with unsleepy DD1 tonight. Missing my alone time!

HillsBesideTheSea · 19/08/2018 00:48

Training was good. I wasn't - that pile of neatly sorted clothes is back on the floor. Meh. It'll get worn or put away soon enough. Tomo is a work from home kinda day.

Stilllivinginazoo · 19/08/2018 06:00

IVEgotthePOWER · 19/08/2018 06:52

Morning all

zoo Brew

Managed to do good catch up on washing yesterday as it was drying outside. Its meant be wet today so i managed get all the beds stripped, remade and last weeks bedding is dry. I am missing the heat wave.

Kitchen isnt too bad (for us)

Need to nip out later for some meat for sunday roast. I am loving stodgy comfort foods atm. Maybe because it looks like winter!

Spreadingcudweed · 19/08/2018 08:26

Good morning all!

Sorry to say it I've but it's a glorious day here; sunny and windy at the same time!! Hope it lasts! I must admit I don't miss that intense heat, but I will miss the light in the mornings and evenings when it goes! Intense heat was fab for drying though I agree. I got all my winter woollies done before we came away. Stuck huge thick jumpers flat on a drying rack on the terrace, and like a steak under a grill, turned them after five mins on each side, and boof, they were done!!

Good luck Zoo!

[Passes embrocation to Hills] ☕

Late start today! (Too much Wine last night.). Must get washing on, then off to church. Then yet more neighbours coming to tea at 4pm so need to bake again. And need to exercise dhorse a bit more intensively today too.

Then heading off thread again this evening as more visitors/thwn travel end this week.

Tally-hoooooo again!!! 🐴🐴🐴🐴🐴🐴🐴🐴🐎🐎🐎🐎🐎🐎🐴🐴🐴🐴🐴🐴🐴🐴🐴🐴🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌳🌳🌳🌳🌳🌳🌳🌳🌳🌳🌾🌾🌾🌾🌾🌾🌾🌾🐓🐓🐓🐓🐓🐓🐓🐓🐓🐓🐓🐓

IVEgotthePOWER · 19/08/2018 08:31

It is pissing down here ☔🌧

MeetOnTheLedge · 19/08/2018 09:02

Cloudy but dry here. It feels very autumnal. I must admit I'm much happier without the heatwave but a bit of sunshine would be nice. Also a bit sad that the evenings are already drawing in.

Flying-wise yesterday - cleaned my car inside and out. I treated myself to having it valeted for the first time last month and have vowed to keep it cleaner myself from now on, definitely easier than letting clutter and dirt build up. I am really strict about removing everything when I get out now, so all I had to do yesterday was dust the dashboard and controls (pledge duster), hoover and go over the outside with a damp microfibre cloth, 15 mins for the lot.

Also another half hour in DD's room and chivvying the DCs to do a few jobs.

Late afternoon was spent making strawberry jam and redcurrant jelly with berries frozen from the allotment a few weeks ago.

Spreadingcudweed · 19/08/2018 11:31

Argh, it's clouding over here now too I've! Just as I have put washing out of course. Sod's law.

Hope it clears up by 4pm when people coming for tea or else we won't be able to eat outside, which means I'll have to tidy and clean inside Confused. Bum! Was trying to avoid that today!!

This new wm that dh chose, loads of electronics and sensors (gah!) and it has a 20°c wash, and a 40°c wash but no 30°c prog for some reason, and all of dd's clothes seem to need washing at 30°c. They're are mostly cotton, so 40°c will be ok won't it?

Must admit I do like getting in to a clean and tidy car Meet but that's a rare event here!! Jams sound lovely!!

Spreadingcudweed · 19/08/2018 11:35

Is it me or are there an inordinate amount of threads mentioning Christmas already? Don't get me wrong, I love Christmas and totally understandable if people are buying over several months when budgeting, but I'm sure Mnsnet didnt used to be quite so obsessed with the subject!!

HillsBesideTheSea · 19/08/2018 11:53

Nope, and they used to get bannish to the christmas corner which you could hide... Urgh. It. Is. JUST. ONE. fucking day.

fell asleep quick but got woken with muscle spasms in my legs. DOMS set it quick but I was working harder last night than wed. Gave up trying to sleep and ran a hot epsom salt bath which helped, finished my book which didn't help (2hr long bath as result and part of a series and I NEED to know what happens next) bit did manage to sleep and sleep until nearly lunch so not tooo too bad on the sleep front.

So my to do list looks like this:
Work for work
consider going to get the next book in series
decide cba
head to shop for some lunch stuff/tea stuff that is lazy and requires no effort
Epsom salt bath

IVEgotthePOWER · 19/08/2018 12:29

🎅🎁🎄

Spreadingcudweed · 19/08/2018 12:42

Lordy, I Envy you your baths Hills!!

Muscles protesting where I didn't know I had muscles after plodding around on riding dhorse... eating dinner off mantelpiece etc ..and all we have is shower which deigns to emit a few drops of water every other minute or so! ( You should hear dd on the subject!! Grin)

Spreadingcudweed · 19/08/2018 12:42

Hope the Epsom Salts do the job though!!

Spreadingcudweed · 19/08/2018 12:45

See you are already getting in to the spirit I've!!

please stop the torture !!! Grin
