Welcome to the August Flylady thread. This is a lovely friendly thread where we loosely follow the Flylady system (see the Flylady website ) in the hope of having organised homes and lives.

This is the August thread so I am reliably informed that it is usually more of a general chat thread. Links won’t be posted by an official ‘thread leader’ every day but I will leave some links in this OP. Please do familiarise yourself with the Flylady website, especially if you are new. The Flylady is (understandably) keen that people do look at the website.

On the website there is information for beginners. You can also sign up to the Flylady emails but we would advise caution as there are hundreds of them.

We post our achievements (ta das) and our to do lists and any other general chatter about life / flying.

Information on getting started: www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/

The launch pad is also a good starting place:www.flylady.net/c/lp.php

Fly stands for Finally Loving Yourself. The general idea is that short bursts of tidying / organisation are more achievable than marathon efforts. Flylady advises 15 minute bursts is effort but you can tweak this to fit your own circumstances.

Be kind to yourselves, jump in where you are and be careful not to crash and burn!

A daily summary (which should update automatically every day) is available on the Flylady website at flight plan here.

The link to the current zone and missions is [[http://www.flylady.net/c/sp.php#missions here].

Re. zones, do what works for you. I don’t always stick to the zones myself and do what works best at the time, with varying degrees of success!

Happy flying everyone.

Thanks hills and bower too just finished catching up.

Bower I have just got a freezer from my fil he didn't want it anymore and we had space so I nabbed it! We have three drawers at the bottom of our fridge but I wanted more space for leftovers and buying more frozen veg and more things in bulk. Hopefully it will prove useful! Dh is unconvinced! I've never gone to the supermarket early evening for bargains as it's always when we are having dinner or getting dc to bed. I have also heard horror stories of fights around the yellow sticker aisle! Shock maybe I'll have to give it a try some time.

Stilllivinginazoo · 14/08/2018 20:15

I don't cook beans myself as worry about boiling kidney beans etc properly to kill the toxins.i tend to buy 3 for a £1 tins in world food aisle at Morrison's!!
Do use lentils as they don't need soaking/faffing with(wash them very well, very dusty after be dry on ground in the sun!!)
I make lentil Bolognese, lasagne ,shepherd's pie and lentil burgers(mix cooked lentils with cheap stuffing mix for dd2 and spoonful nutbutter.full protein and she loves them!)

HillsBesideTheSea · 14/08/2018 20:37

lentils is one of the allergens here Hmm

I have done fuck all. I am going to do fuck all. Might see if I can sleep, i probably need sleep. can anyone say bat shit craziness of the last few months has caught up get a grip woman and rest?

Well actually I have not entirely done fuck all, I have been watching some interesting videos on youtube about tablet weaving, because there is a rabbit hole I need to fall down HmmBlush in my defense it looks pretty and could be useful for finishing edges of steeked cardis

HillsBesideTheSea · 14/08/2018 20:38

Grin linkies if you like? Grin

foxessocks · 14/08/2018 20:47

I have been making lentil Bolognese a lot recently and love it and buy dry red lentils but can only find tinned green lentils which I like in soup. I would worry about beans too that's what I thought!

foxessocks · 14/08/2018 20:48

Oh and puy lentils I bought tinned recently and they were really expensive!

Stilllivinginazoo · 14/08/2018 21:09

I think either Morrison's or home bargains do green/brown lentils foxes
I love the way red ones cook so fast(dd1 loves lentil, carrot, parsnip and ginger soup and if grate veg it cooks in a jiffy!!)
I was told to cook lentils then add to dishes as tomato sauces can toughen the lentils if cooked in that?
Reminds me I have a lovely lentil, spinach and ginger stew that has coconut milk in it(I use coconut milk powder so I only use what need.tesco sell it) and it's lovely with soda bread(starts salivating at notion I soon be able to bake and cook properly for lil zoo not repeat same bloody mind numbing limited ingredients!!)

Hills I honestly bow down to you and the epic list of no no's at yours.i would pull all my hair out, stick rubber glove on my head and run in circles cluck like chicken as dinnertime approaches if I was in charge meals at yours!!

HillsBesideTheSea · 14/08/2018 21:51

I am in denial as to how bad it is zoo only way I can explain why i don't have similar response. That and the fact that I grew up in a house where only 6 different meals were cooked as a general rule. It was all very boring and in a lot of cause devoid of nutritional goodness or taste.

Cagliostro · 14/08/2018 23:58

Today has been utter garbage. Tomorrow will be even harder. FML.

HillsBesideTheSea · 15/08/2018 00:26

Sorry it has been such a tough day Cag

IVEgotthePOWER · 15/08/2018 06:45

I just ate a cake. Only a small individually wrapped one mind.

People here wont eat lentils, including me Blush

foxessocks · 15/08/2018 07:47

Cake for breakfast I've sounds good!

Ds up twice last night. He has been so good sleeping through recently so I'm not used to it and I was only just catching up on sleep from the weekend! Zzz

SassitudeandSparkle · 15/08/2018 08:45

Good morning! Dull but dry here, I think it's going to improve though.

Planned for today - quick trip out, cooked breakfast, start prep of clothes for weekend away, attempting to keep child off bottom and laptop all day but merely in short bursts so I can get things done.

Catch you later!

MsForestier · 15/08/2018 09:31

Cleaned entire top of house yesterday and upper and lower hall. Leaving sitting/dining for dh today! Kitchen okay so no trouble there. Air quality much better in house.

Darn I'm sore this morning. Like a workout yesterday.

Scoopofchaff · 15/08/2018 10:16

Hello, I know I am supposed to be absent but please can I come back here for a small weep (if that's ok with everyone?).

Most importantly though, just wanted to say a warm welcome back to Sassitude! You were much missed! Flowers

Ok so just having a wibble. So far, whilst entertaining a succession of visitors (and no washing machine or dw), I've coped with ongoing illness (mine), adolescent angst (dd's), a new horse (that's the good bit!), major fallout with dsis1, a plague of flies, several wasps nests, slugs (inside), the discovery of rats (normal for neglected fermette apparently) can hearing them scrabbling around in roof during the early evenings ..but what I cannot cope with ..I just can't ...(particularly with guests) is the total breakdown of the septic tank(s).

Last night (pls look away if you are delicate of nature) one of our lavs backed up in spectacular fashion and ...shudder... a turd made its explosive way up through the shower plug while DH (believe it or not) was holding a business meeting in an out-building and I was offering guests post prandial refreshments.

I can't do this, really, really, can cope with anything but dodgy plumbing!

Had to book guests in to expensive travel lodge at bed-time last night. They are going to have to be shipped back to town (they don't drive) this morning, DH busy with two days of meetings and business dinners, which means I'm on my own with this; public holiday (Feast of Assumption) so no plumbers available (even if there were plumbers available which apparently they're aren't because farmers do everything themselves) and not able to get horse back to usual lodgings so can't leave here either!

Wibble. Sob. (Rocks in comforting respite of fledgling naughty corner for several moments.)

How the fook do I entertain people when I'm an hour away in another location? Hate the thought of people in my disorganised house while I'm not there!

Oh dear. Must get back to it!

Sorry everyone! Hope everyone is having a better time of it than me and wishing you "courage" (said in strong French accent if not). For those of you feeling below par; you have my utmost sympathies! Aware this is all rather first world problems; well apart from rats and sewage anyway!! Grin

Slightly stressed wing flaps to all!

Tally-hoooooo one and all (said with slightly less vigour than last time!)

🏃🏃🏃🏃🏃🏃🏃🏃🏃🏃🏃🏃🏃🏃

IVEgotthePOWER · 15/08/2018 10:31

At least DH was not in the shower ..... 🤮

Stilllivinginazoo · 15/08/2018 11:12

Oh SC I'd be in nut house with rest squirrels by now in your place nearly there and that's with far less issues
Sending huge huge hugs and 🍫Wine and Gin!!

Another day, another spat "d"p .wish he would f off to far side of f off then f off some more hour til he leaves for work>

He's taking zoolets Fri so I can't kill/upset him as they'd be crushed not go away now he's been bigging it up

Apparently he's fed up I'm snapping a lot and there's a lot of shouting/sullen faces.i said I've had 3weeks be ignored and yelled at.everything(and I mean everything) drop where sat.not one plates made to kitchen or crisp bag to bin.no washing in baskets and despite be asked 3 or 4 X nicely it don't get done.i think that allows me to get cross.i see NOONE.i have no "real" friends to spend time with,no one to off load it except here.he expects a 1940s stepford wife and I'm anything but so I get ignored, snide comments and completely blanked. hi don't even get a goodbye when he leaves so I only get adult conversation at a supermarket check out
My MH in shreds, palpitations get really bad again.i so exhausted just want sleep and feel like I'm having a breakdown.but heyhoo,I'm a single mum with no one so it's suck it up,pull up big girl pants and keep picking up behind everyone..

Back to painting the girls room....

Stilllivinginazoo · 15/08/2018 11:13

Apologies,I did not intend that to be a me me me rantBlush

MercuryRising · 15/08/2018 11:55

So sorry to read you are having such a bad time Zoo and SC both situations sound pretty horrific.

I have had a productive morning so thought I would have a break mn and make a to do list before cracking on again.

Tada
Beds stripped, sheets washed and put on the line.
Small pile of ironing.
Food shop delivered and put away.
Top of the fridge freezer decluttered and cleaned
Washing up done

To do
Clean bathroom.
Dust living room
Help dd declutter her wardrobe (it is definitely a two man job)

Stilllivinginazoo · 15/08/2018 12:31

One coat applied biggest wall with brush..4to go.it seems angry painting is also therapeutic!!

I need food...
Time make lunch

HonkyWonkWoman · 15/08/2018 12:31

Sorry you're having such bad times sc and Zoo!

Hopefully you'll get a break when "D"p takes zoolets away at weekend!
Nightmare with the sewage problem sc! 😂
Having lived in the countryside most of adult life, I have had experience of this, although, nothing so dramatic as the shower scene from hell....
Can you ask one of your neighbours to keep an eye on Dpony while you take guests back to Town, until you can get septic tank emptied?
Good luck!

MsForestier · 15/08/2018 12:51

Just straight forward flying here although clearly others have exceptional cleaning situations. I had to look away at mention of wasps' nest but it didn't get better the further I read SC. Wing flaps to Zoo too.

ordered a new academic year diary. Ds goes back next Tuesday (Scotland) and the Uni academic year is starting up. Have started to take an iron tonic and dh has remarked on the energy level increase. Must be just that little bit low on iron. Need to look at my diet.

amazed baby cag is walking. Time flies.

foxessocks · 15/08/2018 12:52

Oh no sc I would be freaking out about that too!! Hideous? No advice sorry as I know nothing about plumbing whatsoever BUT I am leaving much CakeGinWineBrew whatever you need in the naughty corner. Be kind to yourself you are only human! I hope guests are understanding and sympathetic and if not then they are just not worth thinking more about. I appreciate that if they are your dh clients that is slightly different but still!

Zoo look after yourself Flowers and I hope that your "d"p realises how unfair he is being Sad

We've just been to the shops which all in all was okay apart from a few moments of ds bolting . Dd was not a runner she always held my hand or walked nicely near me (she still does in fact not only that but she now pushes the buggy or holds bags for meGrin). Ds is fine unless he's slightly tired then he just becomes a climbing, running, feral toddler basically. Even the lady on the till at Sainsbury's commented on his "energy" code for your child is a pain in the arse 😂 and she said she is glad her toddler days are over!! She was very patient as I kept running to grab ds between packing shopping and trying to pay.

Had lunch in a cafe and now home and ds asleep dd watching finding dory so I can relax with a Brew for a short while.

Sending everyone lots of luck and strength!

Cagliostro · 15/08/2018 12:58

Oh good lord sc 😱 nearly said holy crap but that seemed a bit insensitive

Aw zoo I wish you lived closer I would absolutely be your RL friend! (Have often thought lilzoo and DD would get on too.)

Just getting Cagletini to sleep then I might grab lunch and potter about a bit. The others did loads this morning while I rested. Frankly I would happily chop my limbs off if it weren't so much effort. Tried making a GP app but want to see one of two particular ones (big surgery) as not everyone is au fait with the whole BFing-safe drugs thing.

Right. Bagel time.

Cagliostro · 15/08/2018 13:03

Oh she isn't walking walking yet! Just the odd step.

Foxes have you seen the LittleLife bags, they are very cute and keep the bolting little ones safe!
