Welcome to the August Flylady thread. This is a lovely friendly thread where we loosely follow the Flylady system (see the Flylady website ) in the hope of having organised homes and lives.

This is the August thread so I am reliably informed that it is usually more of a general chat thread. Links won’t be posted by an official ‘thread leader’ every day but I will leave some links in this OP. Please do familiarise yourself with the Flylady website, especially if you are new. The Flylady is (understandably) keen that people do look at the website.

On the website there is information for beginners. You can also sign up to the Flylady emails but we would advise caution as there are hundreds of them.

We post our achievements (ta das) and our to do lists and any other general chatter about life / flying.

Information on getting started: www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/

The launch pad is also a good starting place:www.flylady.net/c/lp.php

Fly stands for Finally Loving Yourself. The general idea is that short bursts of tidying / organisation are more achievable than marathon efforts. Flylady advises 15 minute bursts is effort but you can tweak this to fit your own circumstances.

Be kind to yourselves, jump in where you are and be careful not to crash and burn!

A daily summary (which should update automatically every day) is available on the Flylady website at flight plan here.

The link to the current zone and missions is [[http://www.flylady.net/c/sp.php#missions here].

Re. zones, do what works for you. I don’t always stick to the zones myself and do what works best at the time, with varying degrees of success!

Happy flying everyone.

DH runs a sports club for the home ed kids so we would get some use out of it. Also we want to run a free meet up soon to introduce the new venue (we are changing parks due to the house move) and the plan was to do a new sport as the caglets want to get their blue peter sport badge.

foxessocks · 12/08/2018 12:17

Stilllivinginazoo · 12/08/2018 14:05

Aw foxes I feel like this EVERYTIME I see mine in their new uniform soppy old bugger I am

foxessocks · 12/08/2018 14:17

oh no zoo I thought it was just the first time and then maybe the first morning and after that I'd be fine!! She looked so little in it. When recently I've been thinking how big she looks then suddenly in her too big uniform even though I got the smallest size she looks so tiny again!

Stilllivinginazoo · 12/08/2018 14:42

At beginning they look small and vulnerable,in time they look so grown up..lil zoo got a tie sept as schools becoming academy(last year primary)D's start secondary last sept and looked small and vulnerable in his blazer and tie(his first time in a tie for school)...dd2 in uni degree outfit n mortar board made my eyes leak.it never changes when we see them growing and changjng, not always with sadness.often with pride, love, joy

foxessocks · 12/08/2018 14:47

zoo

Ok, enough!

Ta da
Tidied downstairs
Dishwasher on
Washing on

Watching cookery programmes on TV now as ds still asleep and dd playing quietly Shock I like to think it's still productive as I'm learning stuff.

HillsBesideTheSea · 12/08/2018 14:59

See i just look at ds and wonder how the hell that scruffy thing with battered shoes and uniform can 1. achieve it in less than a week and 2. be related to me in how hard he wears his uniform! ShockHmm

But yes they look cute in their first uniforms for reception and senior school. And I expect the first time he wears a suit to work if he goes down that route, although tbh it is more likely to be overalls and a hard hat with toe-tector boots Grin

Take lots of pictures Foxes when you do the dress up and try ons. 1st day school can be rushed and will be emotional!

HillsBesideTheSea · 12/08/2018 15:01

My body has had enough, my mind has had enough. It has taken me this long to move and get up. Blush so I am throwing a crap ton of stuff into the car and going to find a quiet hill and making a plan of action to shift the dreaded where the fuck do i even start to sort this shit out and how the hell do i manage it in the little time available Sad

Cagliostro · 12/08/2018 16:20

I know that feeling all too well!

Just came back from town. Had to give up as too achy and dizzy. Just about managed to find light bulbs and a couple of other bits in wilko, and got a mini statement from the ATM (can't check bank online as no wifi)

Chilling now watching a dvd with ibuprofen and medicinal lucozade... May go in search of chocolate later but it involves moving

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 12/08/2018 18:25

Hope you feel better soon Hills and Cag.

Cake looks amazing foxes Smile.

IVEgotthePOWER · 12/08/2018 20:24

Holy shit i literally havent stopped all day

SassitudeandSparkle · 12/08/2018 21:28

Sliding back in here, namechanged and just can't keep away from the strife Wink

I am hooked on How Jen Does It videos now, she does zone cleaning like Flylady but slightly differently.

Loving the summer holidays here, although DD has had more days on the sofa in her pyjamas than I would like tbh.

Fresh week ahead, bring it on!

Cagliostro · 12/08/2018 21:37

Sass!!! So glad to see you back, you were missed. I haven't namechanged, but I have changed address :o

Holy moly I hurt today. Ended up napping a bit while baby stayed asleep in the buggy, and since then have been mostly sofa bound other than dinner. Feel bad for DH walking into a messy house later :( but needs must, this is the worst I've felt since moving here, I have now got to the "my limbs are on fire" stage. Gah.

Anyway. DH is off tomorrow so I will try and rest. I think I've been so excited about the house that I've pushed myself too much.

OTOH... I have malteser buttons.

HillsBesideTheSea · 12/08/2018 21:51

ta da
got lost
ended up in Sheffield
got lost in Sheffield
found the long way home (took 2 and a half hours Shock )

But it was peaceful, I know where I need to start tomo and tonight is more Sodding antibiotics and then hopefully sleep at some point. Honestly I think lack of sleep is part of the problem because then I am too tired to deal with the solution. Hopefully tomo. Not setting an alarm though as don't need too thank god for a day off and have promised myself that when I have manage to get enough done and if it is by tuesday evening my next day off on wed will involve a road trip. Grin Bribery, folks, it is all about the bribery!

HonkyWonkWoman · 12/08/2018 22:00

Put your feet up now Ive! You deserve a rest!
Good to know where you need to start Hills! Get as much as you can done and then reward yourself on Wednesday!
Hi Sass 👋!

Bowerbird5 · 12/08/2018 22:49

Had the whole weekend off. The house looks a tip.
DH has mentioned it so I said yes WE will clean it tomorrow. He has agreed to help so I am to make a list of jobs.
Let's hope he means it.
We have just about made a decision on the kitchen. We thought we had made a decision on the cooker but a curved ball thrown into the mix today...at the show the kitchen and AGA people had a shared stand. The AGA woman has made us a good offer. A reduction plus money for our old Rayburn which also means we don't have to get rid of it. Oh dear!now what.
We had a good afternoon out and DH even snuggled up to me when it rained 😳 He has been near me for years. I enjoyed sampling some gin. I bought a bottle of bramble gin.😄 BF and I will need to sample it tomorrow. I was so tired I didn't have any tonight. I can to bed after dozing off after Unforgotten.

Cagliostro · 12/08/2018 22:52

DD just going to bed. The existential angst of a preteen. FML.

Think we need a melatonin break soon as well. Not great timing, I can't tell if she's getting too used to the dose or if it's just the stress of moving etc.

Stilllivinginazoo · 13/08/2018 05:45

sass good to have you back
Cag malteser buttons are my new favourite.what did you think of them?you have done huge amounts lately, rest lovely!
Hills I've said it before and I'll say it again..bribery is such an ugly word, incentives my dear, incentives!!Grin
Bower hope you can decide on the kitchen.make sure you crack that metaphorical whip and DH gets his list completed(and make it a big list)

Just getting up and it's light, but very overcast so seems super dim in here.i love light mornings and realisation it will soon be dark again when I get ups frankly depressing!!

Anyways onwards and upwards!!

Stilllivinginazoo · 13/08/2018 07:04
