Fledglings are awesome in August - the Flylady thread

Welcome to the August Flylady thread. This is a lovely friendly thread where we loosely follow the Flylady system (see the Flylady website ) in the hope of having organised homes and lives.

This is the August thread so I am reliably informed that it is usually more of a general chat thread. Links won’t be posted by an official ‘thread leader’ every day but I will leave some links in this OP. Please do familiarise yourself with the Flylady website, especially if you are new. The Flylady is (understandably) keen that people do look at the website.

On the website there is information for beginners. You can also sign up to the Flylady emails but we would advise caution as there are hundreds of them.

We post our achievements (ta das) and our to do lists and any other general chatter about life / flying.

Information on getting started: www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/

The launch pad is also a good starting place:www.flylady.net/c/lp.php

Fly stands for Finally Loving Yourself. The general idea is that short bursts of tidying / organisation are more achievable than marathon efforts. Flylady advises 15 minute bursts is effort but you can tweak this to fit your own circumstances.

Be kind to yourselves, jump in where you are and be careful not to crash and burn!

*
A daily summary (which should update automatically every day) is available on the Flylady website at flight plan here.

The link to the current zone and missions is [[http://www.flylady.net/c/sp.php#missions here].

Re. zones, do what works for you. I don’t always stick to the zones myself and do what works best at the time, with varying degrees of success!

Happy flying everyone.

SC I was imagining you cooking scrambled egg from the horse but then I see you were grooming him.😁

I'm really enjoying the time off. No kids😁 I did help friend with grand ones though as she had hospital app.
Saw child in town being a pain and felt 😁Smug I didn't have to deal with it.

HonkyWonkWoman · 11/08/2018 08:55

Morning.....
I had to laugh at Dh not knowing he had a bedside lamp after having one for 5years Bower! Typical man! Never notice anything!
Same here with losing posts all the time, I think it has something to do with all the ads that flash up! Anyway, annoying, whatever it is!
Not intending to do much flying today, going to the Wedding Reception tonight, so don't want to tire myself out.
Have a lovely weekend Fledglings !!!!

Bowerbird5 · 11/08/2018 09:06

Morning.
Ah not just me then!
Enjoy your evening.

DH I know I am going to ask him today. I think he had a few while I was out! Going to show him where it is and how to turn it on😄
Just waiting for him then going to the show. Bright and sunny at the moment. Tractors are out in force. This show is renowned for being
wet so let's hope forecast is wrong. Usually see lots of people we know. It is only five miles away and a small local show which everyone enjoys. Food is always good too. Burgers are proper top quality meat. I rarely eat burgers but I usually have one here. Beer isn't bad either😊
No flying for me today.
Enjoy time with your families. These holidays are going too quick. DH hasn't mention anything more about going away so guess we are not. Will plan to have a week off and days out with or without him next week.

Cagliostro · 11/08/2018 09:44

Yes make sure you have a good time yourself Bower even if he is not planning anything!

I am very glad it is the summer holidays. I can't imagine how moving and unpacking would've worked if we were also having to go to clubs every day. Gym and tae kwon do run through summer but we have missed a couple.

Not much flying today but I have laundry to sort. Just ours and baby's. It is such a revelation having the caglets do theirs separately! I would definitely recommend it for older children. Still the same amount to wash of course but so much time saved with sorting once dry.

We are going to a friend's party as they've hired an inflatable obstacle course for the kids! Would like to finish kitchen cleaning before we leave though. And maybe pop to asda... maybe

IVEgotthePOWER · 11/08/2018 09:47

Cagliostro · 11/08/2018 11:51

Oh no ive :( sounds like it is ltb time

Well i had a shower and am just resting en route back from asda, dh hopefully put a wash on but i dont see anything else getting done before we leave after lunch

MercuryRising · 11/08/2018 11:53

Morning. We had a lazy start to the day and read and watched telly in bed until 9.30. Since then I hung some washing out, put a washload in and did a small pile of ironing. I have also tidied downstairs, washed up and hoovered. Dp has gone to help dbil move a fish tank and is then going to begin decluttering the garage.

I plan to sort our room and then I am off to meet my mum for coffee. Our relationship has been very tense for the last few months so I'm really hoping we can begin to turn things around.

I don't know the back story but hope you are ok I've. Make sure you have a nice relaxed break Bower we will be back at school before we know it.

HonkyWonkWoman · 11/08/2018 12:04

More like smother the bastard...

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 11/08/2018 19:08

Oh dear Ive Sad. Mercury, hope it went ok with your mum today. I have a difficult relationship with my parents at times and it can be very stressful Flowers. Big wing flaps to everyone else.

Today we have had a pre-holiday organising day. Ta da:-
Home bleugh
DH washed and prepped car
My and DDs’ clothes and hand luggage packed but I am concerned I have overpacked
List of last things to do made
I am now stressing that I have not picked enough warmer clothes for the week visiting relatives that we have first. It is noticeably cooler here today. Not that I am complaining at all but we have packed lots of summer things as holiday abroad will be hot.

To do:-
Bath / shower time
DDs’ bedtime
Look through RBC of stuff our to one side while packing

OP posts:
Givemeallyourcucumber · 11/08/2018 22:44

Evening All.

I've I don't know the back story (and I won't ask) but I hope you're okay.

Still I am very pleased I got all uniform before the holidays started! DS just needs shoes and p.e trainers and a draw string bag. DDs Doc Martin school shoes still fit her thank god! They cost £50 but so worth it as I bought her Sainsbury's shoes and they fell apart after the first term!

Stressy it has suddenly got cold here. I have a hot water bottle up my jumper! We live in Devon, it was warmer in Wales on holiday then back down here! I am pathetic in the cold!

Right just came on to have a catch up and say I am off to bed with my hottie (hot water bottle not DHGrin) and I am going to read my new fly lady book.
DH is watching the first match of the day of the season. He's a happy man!

Cagliostro · 11/08/2018 22:46

Quiet today! We had a lovely time at the party but I am thoroughly exhausted, it was all I could manage to do an easy dinner for the Caglets. I had cottage cheese and baguette :o

Cagliostro · 11/08/2018 22:49

:o at hottie. My DH just got in from work and also put MOTD straight on. So it begins! He never really gets to watch matches though so I don't complain. But YAWN.

I was thinking I should really learn how to use the heating before it gets any colder! I think being mid terrace is helpful though. I was even wondering about getting the baby's sleeping bag out.

Bowerbird5 · 11/08/2018 23:09

The weather held and was gorgeous and had a great time at the show.
Met loads of people I knew. More than DP. I like the show it is so local! I felt like a local today ( I'm not from anywhere near these parts) as I kept meeting people I knew.

Saw BF and her DH. Twice. Then texted her to have a drink but they had gone home and invited us up there. We had a glass of wine then afterwards went out with them for a lovely meal and gin. We.'Ve just got in! A little tipsy. No flying not one bloody little bit.😁

HillsBesideTheSea · 12/08/2018 00:21

Wimps. Tis lovely and cool. I am very much enjoying the cooler weather. Didn't even reach for a jacket until I had to pop into a supermarket this evening (nearly 8pm) and that was only because of an apparent weight loss that has caused a few issues with some vest tops else they have grown in the wash which is unlikely after all this time

Was supposed to be heading to a big city to do a thing tomo but it requires a 4am start to get there on time. As it is well gone midnight and I am not able to sleep nice perk of the anti biotics It would be a poor life choice to go so have cancelled those plans. A shame but that long a journey on less than 3hrs sleep would have just been dangerous to myself and everyone else. Hmm

Ta da
delivered ds with his stuff
been shocked that ds tidied his room before he left
half made a thing - it took a lot longer than I had hope - partly because I can't find the power lead for my sewing machine and I have no idea how to use mum's so had to wait for her to set it up for me and change thread colours. Also do you know how long it takes to make 7 meters of covered piping for edging? fucking forever. Not looking forwards to making the other things which will require a total of 10 meters of cover piping for edging. That is going to require ice cream of something. That said the result with be fabulous so worth the effort for the end result but bloody hell it feels like a slog during the making!

So i have a whole day of doing not a lot. which of course means that my to do list is out of control Blush But I am going to try to limit it to making stuff, although I might take a picnic and sit on a hill with a portable radio and head phones. Who knows. Who cares. You are probably all asleep whilst I am cursing the no sleeping and meds bastard cunting fucking things that make you feel worse before better

Sweep and wash kitchen floor

Clean bathroom
Go out for the day with my mum and sister

HonkyWonkWoman · 12/08/2018 08:48

The Wedding "Doo" was fab, lots of people that I hadn't seen in a while, up dancing most of the night. Got home about one and then was too hyper to sleep till about 4. So only 3 hours sleep!😵

Ta da
Fed 🐱 and 🐕
Empty dishwasher
White wash in
Strip bedding

To do
Bedding in wash and in line
Proper clean bathroom and
Tops and doors in kitchen
Sweep and mop kitchen
Dust downstairs
Vacuum
Food Shop
Put Roast in oven etc.

That's enough, as I feel I might fade later on.
Keep smiling about last night! It does you good to get out and live a little.

Cagliostro · 12/08/2018 09:25

OMG Irish MNers, do you remember I said DS wanted to try hurling (after doing a little home ed project on Ireland) weeeeeell turns out the supplier DH uses for sports club is now selling the equipment for it...

Cagliostro · 12/08/2018 09:27

Oh balls wrong thread! Ignore the above. And good morning! :o I am knackered this morning. May go into town to get a few things like light bulbs

Bowerbird5 · 12/08/2018 09:40

😁 I did wonder!
Great though perhaps he can start a team. It would be different.

Feel tired this morning DH has just got up brought me a cup of tea and has fed the cat. It is pouring with rain. We were supposed to be going to another show today. The kitchen people are going and have put two kitchens up. I am going to mass first so we will wait and see. I went last year and it was raining before we went . Definitely wellies as it was ankle deep in mud.they had to pull cars out with tractors luckily there are tractors on show. This one is very countrified event in fact I think Countryfile were there last year.
