Right you horrible lot stop nattering so much nah it wouldn't be fun if you did

So you have wandered into this corner of MN were the fledglings - a long running but very friendly group welcomes newbies and follows the flylady way to try to get decluttered and on top of the boring stuff in order to have more time for the fun other boring but essential stuff

No idea whose turn it was to run the thread this month but here it the thread and we can figure it out from there.

Can't help there afresh we use sensitive pampers wipes still as their uses are neverending and I have dirt magnets not dc

Callmecordelia · 06/03/2018 14:34

Afresh, what about muslin cloths? They what is used in the Liz Earle routine. I can't afford that, but I have bought the cloths from Sainsburys fairly cheaply. They are very soft and fine, and dry quickly because they are thin.

Cagliostro · 06/03/2018 15:21

We used washable wipes sometimes with DD1 as they came with the cloth nappies. They were just little squares of cotton.

Lesson went well thanks, I got a bit edgy every time she grizzled but she didn’t cry. I let DS have his screen time to distract him as he can be so hyper and in her face. Glad it’s done but also glad that the majority of my tutoring is with the kids of friends who will cuddle her and not mind if I have to take a break to feed etc.

ta da so far
✅spellings and workbook
✅put a wash on, Caglets transferred to dryer and loaded the machine for the next one (need to check it though, not quite at the stage where I let them do it completely alone... seeing as DH can’t even manage not to overload it 🙄🤔)
✅panic tidying, hoovering, throwing some stuff and putting a few bits xaway but mostly just creating a giant BRC. I am actually thinking of just amalgamating all random shizz in the house to get it out of the bloody way and give me space to sort other stuff
✅made myself a decent lunch (stir fry)
✅joined some BLW groups on FB ready for weaning end of next month!

Tap class later, can’t really be bothered, but will be good to see friends. I have an epic headache still, and should really be doing stuff. In particular prepping dinner.

Trying to figure out how to teach chemistry to an 8yo. He’s keen to learn more but it’s not my best subject. DH mentioned ammonia today, I looked up the chemical formula and on looking, DS immediately said what and how much of each element was present. I’m really pleased! I honestly think he could learn to balance equations for reactions and stuff, he just seems to ‘get it’. I love my quirky little guy (currently rocking side to side while battling Transformers) ❤️

foxessocks · 06/03/2018 15:23

zoo periods don't bother me too much (I'm lucky in that respect I know!) But 9 months of puking and having to give birth again would bother me!Grin

Stilllivinginazoo · 06/03/2018 15:32

Fair play foxes I see why you aren't volunteering to be our bumpGrin

Cag well done.ds sounds a cracking ladSmilethe caglets progress and epic one liners always make me smile

Tada
All lower floors swept and scrub in hands and knees
Yet more washing on...

To do
Dinner
Baked haddock with garlic, ginger and spring onion(with green beans and broccoli and rice)
Dd2 having baked potato, roasted veggies and cheese

Steamcloud · 06/03/2018 15:37

Not the most scintillating of days;

morning in a bathroom showroom with tape measure trying to resurrect the total f-up that is our second bathroom project. DH has finally conceded that it's not great, and after a couple of months avoiding the subject, we can now finally speak to one another about it and be (almost) civil Grin

afternoon doing tedious "work" work

have avoided all Flying but made tomato sauce for pasta supper tonight

now taking DD to orthodontist (sharp intake of bank card)
followed by trip to hairdresser (DD has decided she is fed up with long locks)

still have vestiges of vertigo (disappointing) so going everywhere by public transport which is adding long minutes to every trip

Humongous wing flaps to everyone!

HillsBesideTheSea · 06/03/2018 15:48

Cag science is my and ds' thing so if you need I will help.

Slowly begining to get back on top of everything ish. I have screwed up my med taking and I am a bit discombobulated atm. THankfully most of the meds come under vit suppliments but still Hmm

Right off to brave the trip to ikea in rush hour traffic

Afreshcuppateaplease · 06/03/2018 17:21

Glad it went well cag

I have ordered some washable wipes £12 for 25 so not too bad. Hopefully theyll be more gentle on his skin

UP is doing fuck all again

Stilllivinginazoo · 06/03/2018 17:34
Afreshcuppateaplease · 06/03/2018 17:44

Im not sure we need a water bowl it will only prolong things

Stilllivinginazoo · 06/03/2018 17:52

We need to be seen as humane afreshWink
Don't want any charges of neglect from busybodies

foxessocks · 06/03/2018 18:00

Ta da
Washed hair
Hair cut
Renewed library books
Made soup

Don't think I'll get anything else done today as we've been so busy and at relatives for dinner. Must hang the washing up though and ideally put a load on.

Going to do some planning for the week now while I'm waiting for my dinner to be cooked by someone else for a change Grin

foxessocks · 06/03/2018 18:02

Soup was totally made up recipe but tastes nice ! Roasted tomatoes and mushrooms, garlic, ginger, onion, chicken stock. Think that was all.

Stilllivinginazoo · 06/03/2018 18:38

Sounds good foxes only soup I don't eat is tomato.....

Lil zoo was hungry enough to want her dinner.her tummyache returned a little, but she did say earlier felt like still needed to poo but no more coming out (sorry I am waaaay to graphic)she does love fish and pasta.she had a little raspberry jelly after.i refused her usual biscuits to finish thinking til she's back to normal she's hardly going to starve!GrinD's had yogurt and he's now scoffing last of bourbons

Greymalkin · 06/03/2018 18:39

That soup sounds lovely foxes - do you peel the tomatoes?

SC my bathroom ambitions include a victorian roll top bath with claw feet. But apparently you have to reinforce the structure of the house in many cases as the weight of them, plus water, plus person(s) can often bring the floor/ceiling down!!

Had another fairly good day and feeling more optimistic:

Ta Da
Fed cats
School run
Hand washing up
Cleaned worktops and dining table
Made beds
Decluttered huge amount of DS's outgrown clothes for charity
Put away folded laundry
Washed bed linen and hung up to dry
Second wash load in
At-home manicure appointment - was lovely!!
Ruthless declutter of birthday cards - all three of us have birthdays in consecutive months.
Dishwasher loaded an on
Prepped dinner
School run
Picked up click & collect grocery shop
Put away shop
Fed DS and cats

Zone Work
Wiped outside of microwave and coffeemaker
Emptied out a pantry cupboard, cleaned shelves
Chucked a few out of date packets
Reorganised cupboard contents

Looking forward to a lazy evening reading Jilly Cooper (guilty pleasure!)

Stilllivinginazoo · 06/03/2018 18:39

(I should add lil zoo has gone upstairs to read now he's eating them)

Steamcloud · 06/03/2018 18:39

Sounds great Foxes!

That's really crap about UP Afresh

Well done the: lesson Cag

Hats off for hands & knees scrubbing Zoo

Good luck with writing presentation Toostressy

Hope you are feeling a bit better today Cotswold

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 06/03/2018 18:49

Thanks for good luck SC, I will need it!

Afresh, I use cheeky wipes. They are fab and you can buy them online (search for discount codes). Perfectly sized wipes, machine washable and tumble drier friendly. They Re expensive but last for ever. They come in a set with cleansing oil etc but tbh I have abandoned all that now and just shove them in the wash. I did have a problem with them smelling a bit dodgy but the company were super helpful, advised some Dettol
laundry stuff every once in a while and it has not come back, touch wood.

I never went the whole way and used them for bums although there is that option. We use them for hands and faces but I find them a bit of a faff when out so just use wipes.

I don’t work for the company I promise!

Steamcloud · 06/03/2018 18:51

X post
Argh-oops Greymalkin so sorry, forgot about recipe! Will pm!

Wow you are on a roll with those lists: bloomin' well done (I should be doing what you are doing in the kitchen). I'm just depressed about it tbh.

We have one of those original roll topped baths (a very old, scratched, dented original one that came with the house with inappropriate modern fittings). I love it but it's not v economical when you have a water meter. I am worried now about floor strength!

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 06/03/2018 18:53

The only thing is that if kids are absolutely caked in solid food then I do tend to use some disposable wipes as it can be difficult to get the chunks of food out of the microfibre wipes Envy!

HillsBesideTheSea · 06/03/2018 19:58

we use disposable wipes. they are great for getting paint and grease and biro off. Does make you wonder what is in them Shock

my car broke down on the motorway so that was a fun game played loud. - nothing major and didn't need recovery. But having duct tape in the car is sometimes very useful ShockHmm back to the garage again Sad

Have a load i need to do I want to go to bed.

foxessocks · 06/03/2018 20:49

grey I used cherry tomatoes as that's what I had and I didn't peel them just roasted them whole and then blitzed the whole lot up with my stick blender. You do get bits of skin but it doesn't bother me (I would never get onto Masterchef-too lazy!)

Cagliostro · 06/03/2018 22:09

Aaah masterchef. Just settling down to watch some on iplayer, we also caught up on Young Sheldon.

Thanks hills it’s quite odd I really didn’t like chemistry at school (I just didn’t get it) but I think I’ll be learning alongside DS now. More formal learning for him. This will require being organised 🤦‍♀️

Library trip tomorrow. Various errands to run there. Still haven’t got myself or baby weighed, or been for blood tests 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

ta da continued
✅scanned all of Tesco shop, DH put away
✅went to tap, baby screamed for much of it
✅made awesome bolognese for dinner and cleared up after
✅got Caglets to clear up the den they made
✅put a wash on

HillsBesideTheSea · 07/03/2018 01:00

cag ds gets science he just really struggles with the way they teach it at school. This is not uncommon I have heard it a lot in the past. There are several things that you can do easily which is kitchen chemistry I think osborne had a book on this sort of thing (although tbh that was from waaaaaaaaaay back when ds was about 4yr old ish that I was looking so might be making that up) but you can look at the reaction between yeast/ warm water/sugar there is a chemical reaction going on so you can use the prepping of some yeast to put in bread and then look at the reaction. Keeping it relatable will help.
Photosynthesis has a nice little chemical reaction equation if you want something that can be talked about wrt plants/gardening/outside. Which can be tied into food chains. It is easy to tune out of science if you can't see the relevance. Oooo and then there is the design your own firework display project - different chemicals give different colours pick your colours to make a display and say which chemicals you would use.

Never underestimate what you never knew you didn;t want to know about when you have kids. Thanks to ds I can recognise the make of cars from their badges. Makes sitting in traffic more fun but the does leave me questioning how my sanity is doing Grin
