Hi All,

As we all agreed to create a new thread today, here it is.

Hope you all have a good day. I have a shiny sink but not much else.

We're off out for the weekend so see you when I get back.

My DS2 wants a hoover for xmas. OK on MSN.

I might give my dc an early bath today. DS2 has been outside getting muddy after all the rain we had last night.

hazelnuts · 24/09/2006 16:02

I am FLYing atm. Dc bathed, there bits are ready for the morning. Just DS1 lunch box to do later. DS2 bits ready for him to go to school tomorrow lunch time.(after lunch which he is not happy about as wants to take lunch box) Dont know what to do for tea though. The weather has gone dark and grey now. It was lovely and sunny this am.

Oh NO, DD is now getting all the toys out!

tinshoes · 24/09/2006 16:09

Agree to have a 'weekend' thread and whoever is up earliest starts new weekday one.

Back from weekend away so house tidy except for mcdonalds packaging everywhere post-lunch . will be nice and quick to tidy.

had a bad nights sleep so just woke from a 2 hour nap - how extravagant! to ease my guilt i just sorted out my airing cupboard. All duvet cases are in pillowcases a la anthea. Half of fitted sheets are folded (will do rest later) and towels are sorted. How cool is that....

hope you're all having a good day. ((((hugs)))) for hazel and torty who seem to be having rubbish xp issues.

I have just put another load in the dishwasher. All the cookie baking bits!
I had to run out and get the 2nd load of washing it.It was raining!Got my socks soaked.(yes i know what FLYlady would say!)

DD's are playing happily with the mega blocks(which i was thinking of selling cos they never play with them)!

tortoise · 24/09/2006 16:11

Thanks tinshoes. I like that Anthea tip! Might try that one when i sort the cupboard out.

shazronnieWEARINGSHOES · 24/09/2006 16:18

tinshoes - i thought that was a great anthea tip - to keep your duvet sets inside one of the pillowcases!

I mopped today so that's one less home blessing bit to do tomorrow. I noticed that the water was hardly dirty after, when in the past the water was always black after mopping! I must have got through the years of ingrained grime at last

hazelnuts · 24/09/2006 16:26

Thanks tinshoes. I have not got an airing cupboard so all my bits like that are in a made up 1 from an old wardrobe. Xp2 made it up for me. He was going to put a small radiator in my room (was our room) ad take part of the back of it off so it would air the cloths, etc in there. So I sort of have an airing cupboard I spose. I only keep bedding and towels in there so its not to bad.
I have toys to pick up later. DD has got all the toys out of their tubs and is playing with the tubs. DSs are colouring and drawing.

hazelnuts · 24/09/2006 16:30

Sorry but I cant do the wearing shoes. My feet hurt when I tried. I have got ne house slippers though. Hard soled mocks so like shoes Then the fluffy slippers for night time

Skribble · 24/09/2006 17:19

I don't wear lace ups anyway, so birkie sandals in house for me, to sweaty otherwise.

So not much flying today, just relaxing family day. Very nice morning had a bit of a lie in, Got up and presented kids with magazine each I bought yesterday, meant peace to read my own magazine. Pizzahut for lunch and bought nice bread to have with cheese and crackers and stuff later on. DH got the kids a DVD to watch and popcorn for later.

Skribble · 24/09/2006 17:36

So tips and hints so far....

Stick to the 15min sessions, stops me getting bored, tired, angry and rundown.

Do little bits as I go along, like everytime I am waiting on the kettle boiling I wipe another bit of cupboard door.

Filled a tote bag/ charity shopping bag with cleaning stuff and small tool kit. Means I am equiped to do other jobs when in each room, like eventualy tightening screw on the window handle.

Wrote a list of all my hot spots, spend 2 min using timer to do a bit in each one in turn, otherwise some just get avoided.

As well as Kelly's mission I am going to start doing niggle missons, you know those niggley things like dirty marks on the wall, loose handles, things to go in the loft, things to be returned to owner, bulbs needing changed, fuses replaced, things needing glued etc. 1 a day to keep the chaos away .

What have you learned/ started doing. Tips and hints round up!

tinshoes · 24/09/2006 18:10

skribble - tips are great.

i have put cleaning stuff in the bathroom as well as under the kitchen sink so i'm more inclined to swish & swipe.

i try and multi-task eg, wiping sink while i'm brushing teeth etc.

i also do my best to do all of the flylady missions and have a clean kitchen every day. this way i feel like i've achieved something - even if it is small.

on another note. i'm very excited - just used my new bissell carpet cleaner for the 1st time in 2 rooms. embarrassed by the muck it got up but v pleased with results.

hello
we've had a lovely day. we just relaxed and DD and i made cakes. DP has taken a load to work.
this week i didn't manage to get the whole bedroom decluttered, just half. but that's ok. got to remember: babysteps! there is however a HUGE pile of stuff for charity sitting in my utility room now and i have to try and persuade DP to drive me to town to drop it off!
so tomorrow we start in the living room again?
lots of great tips on this thread! keep them coming!

hazelnuts · 24/09/2006 18:53

My bits all done for today. already for the morning. DD in bed asleep, DDs will go soon. I have got cleaning bits upstairs as well as down stairs nw. I would love another hoover so I dont have to keep carrying my heavy 1 up and down the stairs. I want to move in to a three bed ground floor flat or bungalow.

hazelnuts · 24/09/2006 19:01

tinshoes, I cleaned my lounge carpet last xmas, I dont know where all the dirt come from. This is not a shoe home. All shoes have to be taken off as we get in the door. I have had the dyson now for a few months. The dirt that picks up everytime I hoover, well I just dont know where it comes from. [puzzled look] I like the ad on the tv atm. Tha carpet is really dirty, yet the water he tips down the sink looks like weak tea from a tea pot. lol

Bucketsofdinosaurs · 24/09/2006 19:12

I'm trying out my new dolly washing balls from Lakeland tonight on the uriney nappies and cleaning cloths. Very excited but I don't suppose there'll be a marked change, I did use half as much powder though as an experiment.

Skribble, make sure you put your ideas down on post-its LOL. I've got them next to my kitchen noticeboard (newly reorganised with home-made pockets for bus timetables and takeaway menus) so visitors will read them and hopefully point out when one has been up too long.
Another top tip re takeaway menus is a) keep only your favourites and b) write Sep06 etc on the front so you know which are the out-of-date ones.

tortoise · 24/09/2006 19:26
