A place to have a chat, drink Brew and relax from Stepping (or not). All chatters are welcome, Stepping or otherwise.

Come on in and enjoy the company!

We had the book limit too bessie and Hairy Maclary from Donaldson's Dairy is a firm favourite still in this house. I love Muffin Mclay!

Congrats about the Pinterest Scout. I hope you enjoy it and find it useful.

I have been wrestling with an idea I had for a piece of jewellery. It didn't work out quite as it was in my head though and the finished version was way more effort than it was worth. Back to the drawing board!

Scout19075 · 11/07/2012 10:29

Having an at-home day until this evening when I have my last ever Seniors meeting. I'm going slowly but ticking things off of my to do list. Also reading to Toddler and playing. We've just spent 25 minutes fishing.

I miss my babies

Scout19075 · 11/07/2012 10:59

carrots, I'll share Toddler if you'd like. I was about to get up but apparently my foot is a level crossing and I'm not allowed to move.

I would love a brief go of a toddler Scout. I know when my dcs are back they will be driving me insane within minutes but for now...

I am going to be decadent and make some jewellery. It seems a waste to spend the day flying Grin

liveinazoo · 11/07/2012 11:34
Grin

im tired and oddly,coldShock

having found my new favourite comfort food-buttered crumpets followed by a crunchieGrin i feel like a nap

little zoo hasnt got to nursery today as dd2 is finding the school run exhausting and makes her legs hurt so we have taken ds and left it at that
school rang and family support officer has offered to drop little zoo home tomorrrow so she can go back then

it seems dd1 has also had it-aching joints and a red rash is adult form
i thought she had it as a child although she only had one cheek scarlet,so maybe didnt get teh full whack to the immune systemHmm

CatsInChaos · 11/07/2012 12:30

(computer mouse that is!) Wink

I am bored, fed up and trying to type with my left hand. My right wrist is in a splint. I have done something to the muscle (so the doctor said) although I am wondering if it is bone related as they didn't xray. Confused it hurts although not all the time.
Anyway I was told to rest it so unless DH helps out, things will go down hill fast!

CatsInChaos · 11/07/2012 12:34

Yesterday afternoon I fell asleep on the sofa and DD kept saying "wake up mummy" which I did briefly before falling asleep again. Blush
Anyway last night I found it difficult to sleep all night so my whole sleep pattern has gone to pot!
DD was up at around 4.30am today too.
DD has a cold.

Scout19075 · 11/07/2012 13:40

Toddler was up for two hours overnight. We I have Seniors tonight so late evening out/late bedtime. The little monster turkey just won't stay in bed and rest. I told him he didn't have to sleep but that he needed to lay in his bed and read his books to Bunny while he rested his head. I can hear him thundering around upstairs. I should get him so he doesn't cause any destruction (not that he normally does) but I needed 15 minutes to just sit.

Sympathies to all the sleep deprived out there.

Cats drinking Brew only takes one hand Grin I think muscle injuries are more painful that bone ones so the doc may have it right. Rest is the best medicine. Ibuprofen should ease the pain. Poor you!

Zoo I am glad the school are seeing the need to help you out here. It can't be easy to deal with children who are unwell and others who need to be places. Well done for seeking support. How is the jelly baby consumption going? I am trying to tell myself that Dorritos do not constitute lunch. Hmm

carrotsandcelery · 11/07/2012 13:57

I have received a letter from dd (and written a reply) and had a phonecall from ds, who sounded sooooo young on the phone. He is struggling a bit but when I told him I was doing housework (liar) he decided to stay with Granny and Grandad for a while longer Grin

Scout19075 · 11/07/2012 14:30

Oh dear. He's definitely tired -- the whinging, the whining, the crying. They're all screaming "I'm tired Mommy!" ARGH!

Oh no Scout! Be strong!

Scout19075 · 11/07/2012 14:47

Fortunately MrScout is working and will be collecting Toddler from the meeting and doing the whole of bedtime.

I think flying is done until the evening. Sad

That should be "MrScout is working locally and will be collecting Toddler..."

carrotsandcelery · 11/07/2012 15:51

Be grateful for small mercies Scout. I have been to the post office to post off a commission and a letter to dd.

I can't face any more flying. I am so alone I can't settle to anything. I pick ds up 4.30 so I think I will head off early and nip into the craft shop on my way, just for needles and silver lined beads... honest!

CatsInChaos · 11/07/2012 16:07

I have also got to pick up my DS at 4.30 today (after school activity).
DD has very unhelpfully gone to sleep on the sofa so I will have to try and --carry her-- get her into the buggy somehow!
I feel like I could do with a nap but there's no chance of that right now.
Mr Cats won't be home till 5.

Scout19075 · 11/07/2012 16:49

Oh the "I'm so tired!" meltdowns... It's always, Always, ALWAYS when I have Seniors and have to take him out in the evening. Reason 5,271 why I'm giving the unit up.

OP posts:
carrotsandcelery · 11/07/2012 18:10

It must be a huge relief to you to know that this is the last time. The older he gets the trickier it would become as he will drop his nap but not necessarily be ready to and so on.

Ds seems to have had a strange time at Granny and Grandad's. My ddad is lovely but has his quirks, just like ds, and it sounds like he has been a bit grumpy and intolerant. Poor ddad and poor ds. Sad

We have been to the park for a run around (and I had a go on the zip slide since noone was around) Grin I hope no one was spying Shock

carrotsandcelery · 11/07/2012 18:12

Cats I hope you worked out the pick up.

Scout19075 · 11/07/2012 18:50

I am not impressed. NONE of the girls showed up and no one told me they weren't going to the meeting (other than one who told me weeks ago she was on holiday). So I drug an exhausted, grumpy toddler out with promises that he would see his girlies* and teach them to fish and no one came. It's 7+ miles/10-20 minutes depending on traffic one way to the meetings. We hung around until nearly 6:30. I then had to load a very unhappy and confused Toddler back into the car to come home and he spent the whole journey asking "Girlies? See girlies? Where girlies? Fish? No home, girlies!"

  • Toddler calls the Seniors "girlies." I can't remember what he used to call the Guides when I was still doing Guides as well.

That's rubbish Scout. Could there have been some sort of mishap with communication? Has something happened at their school or is there an event at their school tonight? It seems odd that noone came. ((((Hugs))))

AdoraBell · 11/07/2012 19:02

I'm just about ready to drop. 3rd load is in the WM, DDs have emptied DW and played with dogs. DD2 has de-fluffed the Teddy Bear (huge dog) and Pirate. I've vacuumed all but the DD's pits rooms. And I've cleaned to puppies pen and garden. Need to run a couple of errands and I'm thinking about lunching out today- there's a cheap-ish place were a lot of classmates eat with grown-ups in tow.

Hope everyone has a good afternoon/evening

carrotsandcelery · 11/07/2012 19:10

You've been busy Adora. I have a load of washing to hang but I am going to let my evening meal settle a bit first Grin

Scout19075 · 11/07/2012 19:32

Half of them have finished school for the year (they finished GCSEs and are off to Sixth Form in September) and the other half all go to different schools. Most of them are very good at communication (and if not them then their mums).

I can deal with a no-napping Toddler, but not a no-napping toddler after a less-than-full-night's sleep the night before he decides not to nap. Poor thing was just beside himself.
