Scout19075 · 09/07/2012 08:05

If I join pininterest is all of my time going to be sucked up? I keep seeing really good things friends have pinned and I really want to go and look more in
depth myself..

Poor zoo and zoo family. Sad

Off to check/update/create today's to do list and crack on. I've already stripped & remade Toddler's bed this morning (as he had a leak overnight). Sky is overcast this morning don't know if we can make it to town before it tips. I wish Toddler would walk in his boots it would make things easier! Though... we got TS new shoes over the weekend so I can put him in his old ones and not worry to much (they weren't pinching his toes but not much longer and they will soon enough but I could get away with putting them on to puddle stomp through the High Street today/this week).

I love my to do list too, the reminders about things like "pack swimming bag" take the pressure off me having to remember to do things, and like adora, I don't worry if I don't do it all.

One thing I have found really good is printing off my detailed cleaning list. I did it 3 months ago & tick things off as I do them each month, so now I can see what hasn't been done for ages & what I should probably do first this month

carrotsandcelery · 09/07/2012 08:48

It's interesting how the list thing seems to work for everyone except me. I have a general list but not a daily one. Maybe I should give it a go.

I have had a chat with dh about my tablets. He is away on Friday night (off to collect dd but staying overnight this time). I have decided to start taking them on Saturday night as I don't want to take them when I am the only adult in the house and I have to take them for a full week.

Zoo poor you and poor dd2. That does not sound pleasant. Is she very disappointed or feeling too poorly to care?

Ds has a bad cough and croaky throat, which might explain yesterday's meltdown (it's always nice to be able to offer an excuse for shocking behaviour Wink).

Apart from taking the dogs out I think we will hang around the house today. We have a couple of overipe bananas and dh is hinting more than strongly for banana muffins so ds and I might bake later.

I also have a growing pile of ironing and should probably start reducing it a bit.

carrotsandcelery · 09/07/2012 08:51

Scout if TS doesn't like boots would he wear croc style shoes? They are not good for kids' feet but I don't imagine wellies are either. They wouldn't keep his feet dry but they wouldn't get ruined puddle jumping and you could take the shoes and dry socks for when you arrive wherever you are going.

Mine have cheap ones from Primark and ebay for the beach, swimming and river paddling when we are out with the dogs and they seem to do the trick.

Scout19075 · 09/07/2012 09:37

He used to, carrots, but every time I remember to look when I'm at Sainsbury's or Tesco they don't have his size (he's outgrown his last pair). Hmm Must put them on my shopping list for today/tonight.

Toddler's having major mood swings today. I keep having hot flashes. Hmm

It's going to be an interesting day.

carrotsandcelery · 09/07/2012 09:48

Oh dear Scout. Do you think something is brewing?

Scout19075 · 09/07/2012 09:50

For him or me?

OP posts:
CatsInChaos · 09/07/2012 09:58

Hi all, I will have a look at the holiday Fly thread in a mo. Brew

As you may have guessed from my name change I am still in CHAOS. The difference is though I am now feeling a bit better so can hopefully sort it all out a bit at a time. This might mean a bit less time on MNet than I used to have but something has to give somewhere! I will try where I can though to "keep up" with what's going on. Smile

Scout19075 · 09/07/2012 10:09

I foresee early nap in Toddler's future as I'm now at the point where whenever I start anything he joins in/gets underfoot/screeches "HELP!" because his train track came apart and even though he can fix it himself he's in a mood today and just can't.

OP posts:
CatsInChaos · 09/07/2012 10:21

Scout You have my sympathy! I was/am going through this with DD although she is older than TS. Every time I try to wash up she wants to "help" which normally involves her getting wet and the floor ends up with puddles. Makes the job a bit slower than it could be.

Toddler frustration is the pits though isn't it!

Scout19075 · 09/07/2012 10:26

By join in it really is just sit in the way with a massive pile of trains and tracks. He's lovely, he really is, but today he's reassuring me that he's 2.8! I think he didn't sleep well, either, because he keeps yawning and rubbing his eyes. I'm going to let him finish his snack then do a couple of stories/cuddles and down for a rest.

OP posts:
CatsInChaos · 09/07/2012 10:44

Carrots Not sure if you around on here this morning. Hope you had a good holiday. I'm just finding it hard to get near MNet sometimes cause the DC want to play on the computer when they are home --not all the time though-- . I'm doing o.k. Smile

Fairly busy lately. Had a lot going on over the last couple of weeks. Hopefully things with school will quiet down a bit now. They had a very busy week last week with various events going on and parents evening. Then if you throw in Nursery letters and parent meetings too and everything else life chucks at you there just doesn't seem enough time in the day! I am hoping to get a bit of time "for me" --to MN-- though Wink
You are very welcome to txt anytime. or PM me. Smile

carrotsandcelery · 09/07/2012 11:21

Hi Cats! Good to hear that you are ok. It was crazy at the end of term for us too. The extra events for school and every activity nearly got the better of me (twitchy face) but it is blissful now so focus on the end goal.

Scout I meant both of you. I do sympathise. I have a dog who likes to "help" by sleeping wherever you may plan to work. I know it is not the same as a toddler and dogs don't have tantrums thank god but I do sympathise.

Fx he will take a long nap.

Scout19075 · 09/07/2012 11:58

Toddler went down for a rest easily and eagerly but is now full of beans.

OP posts:
carrotsandcelery · 09/07/2012 12:04

I take it you are not Scout and that is the issue! Oh dear!

We are having an early lunch because ds was hunting around looking for food. One advantage of his meltdown in Tesco yesterday is that there are no snack foods in the house as I just got through the basics and got out of there Grin

Scout19075 · 09/07/2012 12:25

I could have used his rest/nap time to recharge. But he's up now, and dressed (he wouldn't let me do it earlier). We've talked. I've said I have to go to the bank (for change), Boots (for pills collection) and Tesco (for recycling and groceries for tonight) and that if he wanted we could have lunch at the café in town while we did those errands. BUT in order to have our lunch in the café we also had to do all of those errands and he had to be a good boy and stay with me.

To be fair he is good about staying with me -- you should have seen him at the Torch run through town on Saturday; he was BRILLIANT and never went more than two feet away even though he wasn't in his harness.

So I'm replacing the trains in the nappy bag (we keep a few in there for when we're out but he wanted the particular cars out of my bag this morning) and we're going to take out the trash and recycling and head into town.

Be back later!

carrotsandcelery · 09/07/2012 12:53

Good luck Scout. We are waiting for my friend to come round and drop off her pets before she heads off on holiday and then we are taking the dogs out and coming home via the park Grin

I have been trying to get ds interested in his holiday journal. I got us each a scrap book from Tesco and thought we could each keep a diary of our holiday (of sorts). He was keen, sat down with it, and then decided he didn't want to do it. I don't want to make it like homework so I let him do something else instead. I sat and did a lot of the cover of mine and filled in day 1 to give him the idea, hoping if I sat there he would sit down with me and do his, but I failed Sad

Onwards and upwards...

CatsInChaos · 09/07/2012 13:02

Hope all goes well Scout.

I find DD is getting easier as she gets older (3.7) although she still has the odd tantrum/meltdown and hits us and her brother. We still haven't sorted the potty training yet. The HV just keeps saying she will "get it" one day. Hmm
She is almost too clever though with other stuff - she knows how to turn the computer off properly and how to turn on the xbox. Shock she even plays on the xbox too now! Shock

I am trying to grab a bit of MNet time while I have lunch but will have to keep an eye on DD as she is now home from nursery.

Scout19075 · 09/07/2012 15:19

Toddler was very good (mostly) while out-and-about though for some reason he kept trying to lick the mirror in the cafe, the café glass door, shop windows and the odd outdoor wall. Hmm He thought it was a fun game. I brought him home the long drive way (as in, circular, 7 mile route instead of straight home 1/2 mile) hoping he might pass out but to no avail. He thought about it towards the end but then realized we were in our town and had a minor meltdown in the car about wanting to "rive, rive!" There was sobbing as I changed his nappy and I've just laid him down for a few minutes. I told him he didn't have to sleep but he had to have a rest in bed with Bunny and his books and that I'd be back in a few minutes. I think he'll go out, in which case I'll get him up around 4-4:15 or he'll never go to bed tonight. But he is desperate for a rest.

I'm desperate, too, but if I close my eyes I'll never get him up.

Hi all

Zoo really hope DD feels better soon. I know nada about rashes so can't offer any advice.

Carrots sounds liked a good plan re starting your tablets when DH is home. I was in the process of weaning myself off when we had a major earthquake. I didn't take another one. We didn't have any structural damage to worry about, it was just the - I need to wake up if anything happens - aspect.

Hi Cats waves, hope you are feeling better.

Dogs are being fussy about food today, Pirate isn't eating despite me putting lamb fat on the kibble. Puppies never turn down food, so they're insatiable fine. I'm having a tea before I give them their snack. Off out later, DDs are on hols

Bessie that 3 month list sounds like a good idea. OH has started talking about having a maid again as DDs won't tidy up after themselves. He can't cope with any mess, despite making a lot himself, and is in a panic about money and selling the house. So, of course, the sensible thing is to employ someone and pay out £600 per month, when he hasn't been paid for a few months. Rant over.

I'm going to get on and do a few things then head out with DDs.
