Come on in and enjoy the company!

Grief! Dd can't stop bursting into tears.

That's what a week of irn bru and bedtime at 11pm does for you. Dmil, I love you but... Hmm

CatsInChaos · 15/07/2012 12:11

I'm just popping in for lunch time. My arm is starting to ache again --been overdoing it-- I have done: drawing, washing up, clothes washing and hanging out clothes this morning. Going to try and have the afternoon off and go out somewhere.

bessie26 · 15/07/2012 14:09

I have never drunk irn bru - am I missing anything good?

here are my lists - I don't do everything on there all the time (& definitely don't do all the detailed cleaning every month!)

TeaOneSugar · 15/07/2012 14:26

bessie thanks for the link, your list looks similar to my draft but I've spotted a couple of things I hadn't thought off :).

As soon as I get my paper sent in I'm on to it.

carrotsandcelery · 15/07/2012 14:34

bessie you are missing nothing with the Irn Bru. I am proud of my heritage and all that but I wouldn't recommend Irn Bru to anyone unless they had a stinking hangover. It tastes of chemical bubble gum and is laden with caffeine. Bleurgh!

carrotsandcelery · 15/07/2012 14:35

We are just back from the hospital. Dd managed to slice a small bit off the top of her pinky and the finger next to it fiddling with a gadget in the shop we were in to get the wood shavings to clean out the animals.

Poor kid. It's not serious but it is really, really sensitive. Ayayayayayaya!

CatsInChaos · 15/07/2012 18:41

carrots Poor DD. Sad owwey!
Is she o.k?

We went to Bowness for the afternoon. Smile It was fairly busy but then I suppose it is tourist season.

Hi Tea, I tend to just pop in on the thread now and again. I share the computer with the rest of the family so don't always get a lot of time to MNet anymore.

I have around 3 more child free mornings then we are into summer hols.

carrotsandcelery · 15/07/2012 18:52

Is that where the Beatrix Potter place is Cats we went to the town there last summer and it was mobbed.

We went to a fab place further up that lake which had a brilliant adventure playground, gardens and dh and dd went Ocean Kayaking. It wasn't as busy but I have no idea why as it was a fab day. I have checked our photos and I haven't written where it was for some reason.

bessie26 · 15/07/2012 20:30

aarrrggghh! tescos is offline & i need to update my order tonight - atm it consists of one box of tissues - that's not going to feed us next week!

Hope DD is ok carrots - that sounds really painful!

Sounds like a nice afternoon out cats - we just walked down to the local park, it was nice, but other than the swing, there's not much for DD2 (1.3) to do - she needs to start walking!

tea I started fly lady 1.5yrs ago, so those lists have had alot of updates!

carrotsandcelery · 15/07/2012 20:52

Oh no bessie! Good luck getting them back online.

Dd is mostly doing ok. It is hard to tell what is pain, what is exhaustion and what is the "hangover" from excessive junk. Poor kid!

bessie your dd is an awkward age for outdoor play in a park. They are old enough to want to but not quite big enough to "do". Very frustrating.

bessie26 · 15/07/2012 20:58

It sounds like your DD needs a detox carrots!

DD2 started cruising a few weeks ago carrots so I'm hopeful it won't be long now before she can start toddling around!

Stupid tescos site is still broken & isn't letting me amend my order I will have to drink Wine and look at Pinterest for a while instead Grin

carrotsandcelery · 15/07/2012 21:09

She does bessie. She has had a much healthier day (apart from the chopping bits off herself incident) but I think it will take a couple of days.

I wish dmil could see that it is not really kind at all. It is well meant but one Irn Bru would have been a HUGE treat to dd, not several a day etc. She loves her and was trying to spoil her but...

I may have to have a drink too bessie. Dh is on the exercise bike so it would be a bit shameful by comparison but I quite fancy one. Grin

bessie26 · 15/07/2012 21:24

several a day?!?!?!?!? OMG! Shock

What is is about ILs & all "treats" having to be crap food? If you gave DD1(3.8) a punnet of strawberries she would be the happiest girl in the world, but oh no, MIL gives her a HUGE bag of crappy white chocolate buttons.

carrotsandcelery · 15/07/2012 21:33

I know bessie. When dd hurt herself today I had to nip in and buy plasters and bought her some strawberries "to help her heal". She sees them as a huge treat.

I think it is a lot to do with what the couldn't afford when their own kids were little and what wasn't available when they were little. They don't/won't understand the excess of it. When I am there I am the Big Bad Wolf and allow a little but not craziness. Dmil obviously let her go for it. She would limit her food nowadays (for vanity's sake if not health) but if it is diet Irn Bru she wouldn't realise it was a problem.

My dparents are ok most of the time because we see them all the time but on holiday they wanted to go bananas too - not quite as bad but still bananas...

I wonder what our ddil and dsil's will moan about us doing?

Scout19075 · 15/07/2012 21:53

Hello.

Last minute day out with my boys. I'm exhausted now.

to Scout and bessie and anyone else who is lurking.

Carrots I think that place with the play area is called Brockhole (by lake windermere) and I think there is a Beatrix Potter thing at Bowness. We have been to Brockhole before and it's brill for the kids! I love the scenery up the lakes. It takes us around an hour to get there.

carrotsandcelery · 15/07/2012 22:02

That's it Cats, it was Brockhole. It was a lovely place. Bowness was lovely too but we were a bit taken aback by the crowds. Dh and dd went out in a rowing boat there. It is stunningly beautiful all around there.

Hi Scout! What did you get up to?

CatsInChaos · 15/07/2012 22:02

It is always busy at Bowness. Lots of tourists from all over go there. It is a lovely place for scenery but I find it too busy up where the shops are. We like to stay around near the lake unless we need to get some food.

carrotsandcelery · 15/07/2012 22:02

Any joy with the shopping bessie?

bessie26 · 15/07/2012 22:14

shopping sorted

carrotsandcelery · 15/07/2012 22:22

Yay!

Scout19075 · 16/07/2012 10:31

Could someone give me a boot please. Rough night with Toddler and I just can't seem to summon the energy to do anything.

WM & TD are on - it's time for my weekly cleaning frenzy!

Scout19075 · 16/07/2012 14:41

I thought that was you passing in the night, bessie. Wink Toddler had me up from just after 1 until sometime after 4. I don't think I know which end is up any more.
