Come inside for a Brew and a Biscuit and maybe even a Wine if the mood takes you.

A thread for chatter and nonsense Grin

Great to hear you are feeling better cats Grin

arti & carrots perhaps it will take a while for your bodies to adjust to the new bed time?

Incase anyone is interested, here is my Pinterest - I've changed it so it shouldn't show my real name anywhere - please let me know if you think you see it!

educatingarti · 07/05/2012 13:59

Carrots - get him to hand over the cash I think and tell dd she can put it towards something she really wants next time you are in the city. I think the most important thing is to do something that feels like justice has been done fairly quickly.

I am psyching myself up to doing an Aldi shop. I need to decide on something to cook. Any ideas?

I like stuff that is easy to cook, something where I can make 4-6 portions and freeze some and ideally that has veg in it so I don't have to cook extra to make a meal!

liveinazoo · 07/05/2012 14:02

sweet ginger tofu is apic of your catSmile

i may have a proper look salivate later.right now i need lunch!

liveinazoo · 07/05/2012 14:04

arti-roast load veg
make lasagne, use skim milk and cornflour to thicken for a low fat sauce>
enchiladas with tomato sauce
pasties with the veg and tin beans?

educatingarti · 07/05/2012 14:22

Great ideas zoo. I've been looking at Bessies Pintrest and think I might have a try at these: quinoa burger
but I'm going to save your pasty ideaas I really enjoyed making my cornish pasties and that sounds like a great variation ( but I've had pasty for the last 3 days from freezer and can't really have it a 4th day running!!)

educatingarti · 07/05/2012 14:23

I like the idea of calling a cat "sweet ginger tofu" !

educatingarti · 07/05/2012 14:24

"ginger" for short?

educatingarti · 07/05/2012 14:24

OK - enough of this. I'm going to brave Aldi ( and Morrisons for the quinoa)

carrotsandcelery · 07/05/2012 16:56

I can recommend the sweet ginger tofu. It's lovely. I have, however, never eaten cat! Shock

Arti if I had a freezer big enough I would freeze vegetable chilli, lentil hot pot, loads of soups, bolognaise, goulash...

Hello everyone. I keep trying to come online and things keep happening. Dd is out so I am ds's companion for the day. We have been building a lego robot factory. It's very hard to know what is in his imagination! (Help!)

I have made lentil soup for tea as it is possible that we will all have to eat at different times and it is the easiest to serve that way.

I haven't done much flying today but I will post my (shameful) list in a mo.

I might disappear into bessie's pintrest for a while first though.

I have that "day before school" feeling. A feeling of "Oh cr@p! I have to get everything ready!" and also a feeling of "I don't want to get up and get them ready for the school run" Sad.

I am still fairly alright though, Smile just a bit unsettled.

I haven't been able to get on here much today as DD has been playing games on here. I will be off to sort dinner in a mo.

educatingarti · 07/05/2012 17:44

Cats, I'm glad that you've felt better today. I know that unsettled feeling. I think you probably will go up and down a bit emotionally, but it should be just a little bit rather than extremes iyswim!

carrotsandcelery · 07/05/2012 17:45

I might go slightly insane. Ds has been talking AT me all day long. It does not end Shock

He is also refusing to eat the soup I have made. Would it be awful to leave dh to feed him once I am out? I don't think I can face it!

Advice needed!! Shock

Have made quinoa burgers as featured in Bessies pintrest. The mixtrue seems to be quite sloppy and hard to keep together. Tried cooking on lowish heat as advised but they still fell apart! Finally got bored on low heat and finished it on higher and stuck in roll to eat like traditional burger.

How can make them less sloppy/hold together more? More four in mix?

Also, if I want to freeze them. am I better freezing uncooked mixture or cooking them before freezing?

btw it tasted really good - just messy to eat!. Also when frying bits of quinoa kept exploding and firing at you ( like popcorn) - but tha twas kind of fun!

Off to finish eating before I get my keyboard any more oily!

educatingarti · 07/05/2012 18:56

four - should be flour of course!

educatingarti · 07/05/2012 20:09

Reporting back

I put a lotsome more flour in mix and dusted with flour before frying this time. It stuck together much better, still tasted good (I had put in a little bit of chilli powder for extra zing) but I think wasn't quite as cooked as it should have been in the middle.

So I have decided2 eggs not 3 next time and that when it is sticking together better it is OK to fry it for longer ( on lower heat. I am also experimenting with cooking 4 in an oiled yorkshire pudding tin. I've put them in the oven for about half an hour. Just off to go and get them out but you may have to wait for taste test as I am no longer hungry enough to eat another one!

educatingarti · 07/05/2012 20:39

Ok, they have cooked fine in yorkshire pudding tin but stuck quite a lot to the tin. I think I should have oiled it more and used baking parchment and possibly WD40 !

I have made a few inroads into spare room ,but it still looks like a tip!
Need to do more everyday things like sort out washing and tidy ironing stuff from living room before student and parent come tomorrow.

bessie26 · 07/05/2012 20:58

how did they taste arti? (I haven't tried any of the recipes I have pinned on pinterest!) I have made these black bean & quinoa burgers before & they stuck together beautifully.

educatingarti · 07/05/2012 21:05

Haven't tasted the baked ones yet Bessie. I'm too full! I'll let you know tomorrow. do you think they would freeze better cooked or the uncooked mixture?

bessie26 · 07/05/2012 21:30

I would guess cooked, but that is a complete guess!

educatingarti · 07/05/2012 21:53

Ok - I'm off to bed now as I still feel totally shattered!

Goodnight all!

carrotsandcelery · 07/05/2012 22:05

Arti I have always cooked things like that before freezing and just reheated them in the oven after defrosting them. I freeze them between layers of baking parchment/grease proof paper so they don't stick.

It is very quiet here tonight! I have been out to the beading group I was invited to. I have learned a new pattern/stitch and made another bracelet! Smile

While dd was out at her friend's another calf was born. How amazing is that? She got to see it just after (they left her in peace for the birth). She had a fabulous day and was totally shattered. When she realised I was going out she burst out crying Shock

bloody bloody tescos. where's my f&^&g food! I booked it for 8-10. got txt this morning saying it would be here between 8-9. Just checked website & it says it's been delivered. No-one on the phones coz it's bank holiday monday. I want to goto bed!

The baby calf sounds wonderful carrots. Is your beading group a continuation of your course? How's the commisioned piece going?

carrotsandcelery · 07/05/2012 22:41

bessie that sounds very dodgy. Not meaning to put the wind up you but did you read the thread a while back about the neighbour who took delivery of the mumsnetter's supermarket delivery. Eeeek! Shock

If you go to bed they are guaranteed to arrive just as you drop off so I recommend getting to bed quick smart [sod's law emoticon]

The beading group is at the same place that the class was but is just an opportunity for local beaders to come along and chat while they work, share ideas, help each other etc.

The lady who was teaching our class did teach me another stitch though so it was a little like a class as well Smile

I haven't started the commissioned piece yet because it is my friend's birthday and I was making her a bracelet. The first one I made wasn't quite right and I didn't know what was wrong (I took it tonight and got advice) but I made her a different one tonight. I have also made her a bangle as most people (myself included) like them better. This friend has seen the bead weaving stuff though and really liked it (she is very honest so she wasn't just being polite) so I feel a bit safer giving her a piece I have made. (I am giving a "proper" gift too!)

I am hoping for a better light for my birthday so that I can work more in the evenings.

glad you are finding a useful place for your creations carrots

We do have a very similar sounding road name to another one near us, but the lady who lives at the same number as us has often come round to deliver post & parcels to us. I sent tescos a msg at 10:20, but doubt anyone will be there to reply. I decided I would wait until 11pm, so am going to bed now.

CatsSleepAnywhere · 08/05/2012 09:23

bessie Hope you can track down your Tesco delivery. Shock

I'm just off to have breakfast as I couldn't face it earlier.
