I had a two hour nap Blush and goodness knows how long Toddler was awake after his and now it's a mad scramble to make his dinner, feed him, load the car and get to Seniors on time. EEK!

carrotsandcelery · 18/04/2012 18:00

The sun actually came out for our school run [miracle]

Sarah, Ds has been diagnosed with anxiety and depression and is in the process of being assessed for autism/aspergers. If he does have something like that then it will be very mild. He is doing really well just now, partly because he has an amazing teacher. The concern is to continue the good work as he moves to another teacher after the summer.

sarahfreck · 18/04/2012 18:09

Carrots - I wondered if it might me aspergers/autism. I work/have worked with children on the autistic spectrum so I know a bit about it. Have the school had any training in this area. Many teachers don't know much about asd and it can make quite a difference if they are more aware of the issues.

Have you come across social stories?

liveinazoo · 18/04/2012 18:11

Envycarrots and sunshine..i slopped in like a drowned rat-it was ok when i left for reading with ds at 2.30.
3.15 as we walked across the playground to get dd2 the heavens openedSad

the cats are running around madly and kids squealing.im strugglling with all the noise and activity...

cats tring to stick head in pots pasta boiling on the cooker isnt helpingSad

carrotsandcelery · 18/04/2012 18:13

I used to be a teacher myself Sarah (secondary) and had virtually no training in Autism/Aspergers, despite teaching dcs with the conditions. I don't even know what asd is, although I see it all the time on here Blush

I suspect his current teacher is very well informed and that is why she has managed him so well. She did mention social stories as something that would help him but I don't know what that is or if it has happened for him. What are they/is it?

CatsSleepAnywhere · 18/04/2012 18:28

Hi all, I have done 2 x shredders full of shredding (paperwork). I think I am getting more done by posting on here less Wink.
I have also cleaned the table and done 3 x washing up/drying up and cooked and eaten dinner.

Zoo DD does a lot of high pitched screaming when she is excited Hmm.

I sometimes wonder if she may have a special condition, as she has been awake since 5.00am today and was awake 3 times last night.
She was sat watching a dvd just now and saying the exact words as they said it on the cartoon. She is good at counting too and very good at talking although can be shy in social situations.
She is only 3.

sarahfreck · 18/04/2012 18:35

There's loads of things you could do to ease his transition into the next year at school, social stories being one. Rather than totally derail this thread, I will PM you when I can ( probably not today).

How old is your DS and what year is he in currently?

ASD= autistic spectrum disorder. If his current teacher is talking about social stories, I agree that she is probably well informed ( and will hopefully pass on some of her expertise to next year's teacher!)

Scout19075 · 18/04/2012 20:14

Home from Seniors, Toddler's in bed, MrScout is still at least an hour away and I'm having a dinner for one with another episode of my American program. Is anyone around?

bessie26 · 18/04/2012 20:21

scout hope you are feeling better after that lovely long nap? Are you waiting up for mrscout or having an early night? I've got stuff to do now, but will be back later.

Scout19075 · 18/04/2012 20:35

I'll wait up -- he should be home by 9:30.

I should do stuff but I'm having trouble mentally focusing so I'm just going to sit here, cruise the web and watch tv.

carrotsandcelery · 18/04/2012 21:59

Hello all! Thanks in advance Sarah. Smile

Scout I hope you enjoyed your nap and it made you feel better.

I have learned how to make a bracelet. I am shattered but I really enjoyed it. Dh doesn't believe that I made it Hmm

Hi Camper How old are your DC?

I have had a paracetamol and some breakfast so fx I am going to be o.k. now.
Just having a quick Brew before I get everyone dressed.

CamperWidow · 19/04/2012 08:13

Lollipop is 2.7 and Muddles is 6 months. She's doing lots of ba ba ba bwah bwah bwah noises! It's great, but I'm not looking forward to the two of the chatting away! Lol can talk for England and is not bothered about making any kind of sense! Grin She sang me a song earlier that combined about 7 different nursery rhymes and several other random bits! Should be our next Eurovision entry!! GrinGrinGrin
Hope you start feeling better soon! Fx

liveinazoo · 19/04/2012 09:51

morning everyone
today has been a mad start in the zoo house....
i fell asleep watching tv on sofa, having put kits in kitchen for the night at 9

i was rudely awoken at 1.30 by them both running over meShock

i staggered up and as i attempted to round them up one knocked stack playmobil flying, scattering it everywhere

the other got in meter cupboard that hold dcs extensive dvd collection and knocked half them out

they then proceede to jump on back sofa and lay down so i gave up and lay down again for them to kick off again 10mins later..

i manage to catch scout afterhe stopped to eat a salt and vinegar craisp and hoover up a bit biscuit on the floor

i barracaded them back in the kitchen and then spent most nigh listening to themhowling pitifullySad

today scout has slightly squippy bum

i was rudely woken at 7 by dcs-we had to be at school for 8 a dd2 has olympics sports clubShock

it is not easy to rush around a mess or weaving excitable kits

front rooms a bombsite and im not sure if im on my arse or my elbowConfused

i have unruly but very cute toddlersSmile

sarahfreck · 19/04/2012 10:01

It is a lovely bracelet Carrots, very professional, although I think it is a bit rude of Bessie to point out how well the pink bits match your eyes! Grin
