Hi Carrots That's a long way away for your DH to be Shock, does he often go abroad? OR are the people from New Zealand that have come to Scotland?Confused

I could have a go at the links if I'm on here early, (please forgive me though if I get it wrong).

For now though anyone new - there is a link up there in Carrots first post explaining what the babysteps are. We will try to link each one daily but if you have anymore questions, please ask. Smile

carrotsandcelery · 29/02/2012 19:04

BC the people from New Zealand are in Scotland so dh just has to take them out for dinner. Some others from his work are going too so he doesn't have to do it all alone.

Dh sometimes has to go to Norway and has been to London, Argentina, Chile and the Falklands before with his work but these days it is rare for him to be away for more than a night.

Where we live the majority of husbands work offshore, or often go abroad. Many husbands actually live abroad. I am relatively lucky as I only have to cope with dh's long hours and do get to see him eventually most nights.

When MrScout started with his current company he spent nine months in Scotland, so I only saw him on weekends. He still travels but now it's mostly within England, and he's home at night, and the US (where obviously he's not home at night). We did almost to go the US for 3-4 months last year but he had problems getting his visa in time so we didn't go. (Note I said "we" because I put my foot down and said TS and I were going, too. TS has dual citizenship, as do I, so he doesn't need a visa for an extended trip.)

Is it sad that I'd really like to go to bed?

bessie26 · 29/02/2012 20:33

scout bed sounds like a fine idea to me! (football is on here )

I'm copying all the feb photos onto the PC, will then choose a few of the best ones to share with the GPs - this always takes me ages because I have to say "ahhhhh" at every single one of them [soppy]

Parent's evening went well, DD1 is a good girl (like her mum [square]). Just need to think of ways to build her confidence to talk more at pre-school. We have also been warned about the class bear!

DH was away mon-fri last week for work, but he doesn't do that often. He maybe has 4 trips of 2-3 days away every year. We all have breakfast together & he is almost always home in time for bathtime.

carrotsandcelery · 29/02/2012 21:00

When dd was born dh worked in London and only came home at weekends. It was horrid. His trip to the Falklands was 5 weeks long and he could only phone me once a week. Dd was only about 5 months at the time and I only knew 2 mums then. Everyone else I knew was either at work or asleep because they worked the night shift. It was awful.

It is sooooo much better now. I know more people, I am more confident as a Mum, we have a bit more money to go and do stuff, dh is rarely away... So, so, so much better.

I have finally managed to do the dishes and clean the worktops. I have also burnt my pinkie [pathetic] so have had to make myself a Brew to recover from the trauma Grin

bessie - not wishing to lead you astray but Green and Blacks is on offer in the co-buy thing mumsnet has started up. There is a link to it in the sticky near the top of Active convos Grin

Reading further into it I think you have to know your prices bessie.

BlackCatTryingToFly · 29/02/2012 21:50

Anyone still here??

Although I will be off to bed soon.[tired emoticon]

carrotsandcelery · 29/02/2012 21:56

Hi BC. I am fading too. I am just waiting for the dw to finish so I can go to bed too.

Dh is still out but I can read and snooze - the dogs will wake me when he comes home.

BlackCatTryingToFly · 29/02/2012 22:01

My DH is watching the football.

Hows your finger?

carrotsandcelery · 29/02/2012 22:04

It's a bit nippy but not life threatening Grin

Ds nearly made me cry as I was hopping around the kitchen trying not to say bad words and he came and gave me a hug and presented me with the best ever eye he had ever drawn. It was indeed an eye, neatly cut out and everything, about the size of a 5p piece.

I had better blu tak it to the gallery before dh comes in and throws it out.

The dcs drive you mad and then melt your heart - all in the space of a minute Grin

Aha! Dh is home!

BlackCatTryingToFly · 29/02/2012 22:08

Aww! That's cute! (DS)Carrots

I'm going to bed now, "See" you tomorrow.

Sleep well all.

carrotsandcelery · 29/02/2012 22:25

Good night BC. I am off in a minute too.

I had sausage, chips and beans for tea. Dh has been telling me all about the poncy foaming soup he had and fancy desserts Envy

He also met someone who trains with Hussein Bolt Shock Envy

And I was doing the dishes. Gah!

OP posts:
carrotsandcelery · 29/02/2012 22:27

He did make me a fresh Brew though and I am leaving him alone and going out for the next 2 nights so I'd best not make a fuss Wink

bessie26 · 29/02/2012 22:45

Out for 2 nights??? In a row???!!! Shock I was supposed to be going out tonight, but it all got cancelled yesterday Sad

I had a quick look at the G&B thing. In sains it's about £2.10 a bar, they sometimes have a 2 for £3 offer on (in my defence, I had NO idea it cost THAT much until last month) So it does look like it might be a good deal. Will investigate properly tomorrow. And then invent a body shaping suit thing that turns all my wobbly bits into boob Grin

BlackCatTryingToFly · 01/03/2012 06:49

Babystep one

BlackCatTryingToFly · 01/03/2012 06:53

Morning all, The first babysteps is to Shine your sink, you will find it further down the page on the link ( on my previous post).

bessie26 · 01/03/2012 07:06

Thanks BC!

MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 01/03/2012 08:06

My sink is stone, so no 'shining' going on here, but will scrub it while I'm waiting for the kettle to boil.

Thanks for the tip

CamperWidow · 01/03/2012 09:11

St Davids Ok, so I managed to keep this one going from last time! Hurrah! My Mom is coming over to see us today so I will have to do a quick 'panic clean'!!! i.e. pick up everything in the three rooms she is going to see and cram it into ones she won't! Grin I will get tidy one day :)

Having read all your posts about DH/P it's kind of warming to know I'm not the only one and it is possible to have a clean house and two under the age of 3! I may need that pointy stick quite alot though, I am also about to try that Shred DVD which may take up a chunk of already flagging energy!!!!!

bessie26 · 01/03/2012 09:14

My sink is matt black, so the only bit I will be shining is the taps! I have sprayed cleaner all over it ready for me to scrub in a bit.

You know the sealant bit between your worktops & your wall? Well ours started to peel off a few months little while ago, so DH scraped it all off intending to re-do it. Unfortunately he CBA hasn't quite found the time to complete the job, but assures me he WILL do it this weekend (yes, I am more than capable of doing it myself, but he said he would do it, so I'm leaving it to him!) So, I need to clean it all up (again) - what would you use? I have some evil Dettol mould & mildew remover stuff (I am generally an Ecover girl) that I used before, but there were still some yucky black bits left - perhaps I just need to leave it on for longer?

bessie26 · 01/03/2012 09:28

Camper have you ever done a Crisis Clean? I haven't, but I've heard it's quite good!

Let me know about the Shred thing. I keep meaning to buy it [lazy]

Scout19075 · 01/03/2012 09:29

(New) Swimming Day! YAY! TS woke up Tuesday (our swimming day for two years) talking about his friend (who we take class with) ALL DAY. I think it will take him a while to get used to the new day.

I refuse to give in to the urge to nap when Toddler does and will crack on with babysteps and jobs.

Ta Dahs so far:
washing up from last night Blush
packed swimming bag including snack & drink
put dinner in slow cooker

I'm off to get us dressed in a few minutes and then out the door for swimming.

Happy March, ladies!

BlackCatTryingToFly · 01/03/2012 09:43

Smile.

I still have quite a big list of things "to do" apart from my sink shining which I'm hoping will occur some time today.

I have to try and break my "Avoidance" habit and just get on with what I need to do. So I am hoping to spend less time on MNet today and a bit more time "doing stuff".
Wish me luck!

I will now try and turn the computer off till at least 11.00am. If you see me here before then "Kick my a**e"!! Wink
