I am going to start from scratch with Babysteps as I have got out of the routine and habits.
I'm off to get dressed in a minute Blush

New year New start!

The rest of today though will be family time.

Happy New year to you all! Smile

Morning BlackCat (well afternoon). The dcs finally left me to sleep this morning and I slept until 10 am Xmas Shock and feel a bit more myself now Xmas Grin I did eat a few Brazil nuts last night so I like Angel's theory.

I am washed and have been to Tesco again. I have also made the majority of the dessert for tomorrow (hosting family). I can't decide whether to prep everything else of leave it until tomorrow. I think I will have to leave it as I don't have much fridge space.

BlackCat I will join you on babystep revision. It sounds a good way to start the year.

I am off to hang a load of washing (best not do any tomorrow after your thread on that BlackCat) and maybe put another on.

Ooh, I was going to ask if anyone wanted to go through the baby steps again! My plan is:
Jan - baby steps & declutter
Feb - add missions
Mar - add deep cleaning
Mind you, every other time I've made a plan like that, it's all gone horribly wrong & I've ended up not even doing the babysteps, but I'll worry about that when it happens.

Glad you're feeling a bit better today carrots, I will have to get myself some Brasil nuts too!

DD2s sleep has gone wrong again Sad she's all snotty, so she must have caught a cold off someone she saw over Xmas She was only up once last night (2am), but isn't napping well today &has a temp (I'm hoping that's just teething)

I'm staying in tonight, but DH is out playing in the band & doesn't expect to be home until 230 - he's going to be all tired & grumpy tomorrow!!!

Today I have mopped the kitchen floor. DD1 seems to be having a bif of a regression on the potty training (huge wee while sat having lunch) so I'm a bit worried she's coming down with something, as the last time this happened she had an ear infection.

roastparsnipsandbrusselsprouts · 31/12/2011 15:43

bessie they often have little mishaps when they are under the weather. I had forgotten how often little ones get bugs. It seems fairly constant.

I still haven't hung up the washing. I have hurt my leg although I have absolutely no idea how. It is not dreadful or anything but very odd.

I definitely need more exercise!

Hi all, We went to town and spent our Christmas money/vouchers this afternoon so the kids are playing with their new toys. I bought a couple more cooking books. I got Jamie's Ministry of food and a Mary Berry's puddings & Desserts book.

DD woke up at 4.00am this morning then came in our bed so the sleeping all night has gone out the window.Sad

Glad your feeling a bit better today Carrots
Did you find my list of good mood foods a help?

As for the Flying I think I will just try to get better at the babysteps and start on Monday.

roastparsnipsandbrusselsprouts · 31/12/2011 17:53

Oh whoops BlackCat I got it into my head that the list was Angels. I have to say the brazil nuts did help - quite a lot actually. Thank you for that.

I made the Korma from Jamie's Ministry of food for tea tonight. It makes a lot - it will do us at least one more night (maybe a lunch for one of us as well) although my dcs don't have massive appetites.

I really hope you like it BlackCat. I usually find celeb cook books lovely to look at but rarely want to make anything from them but I love this one.

I will look forward to hearing how you get on with the puddings too Xmas Grin

Carrots That's o.k. about the list, you've had a lot on your mind lately so I'll let you off.Xmas Smile

The Jamie book looks quite good and I think there are a few things I would be willing to try. We don't eat huge amounts of meat in our house as I am a bit squeamish and fussy about it but there are other recipes in there that I think we could try.
Haven't had a proper look at the Mary Berry one yet but at a glance it looks nice.

What do you do with the food you would keep for tomorrow?
Do you keep it in the fridge or the freezer?

roastparsnipsandbrusselsprouts · 31/12/2011 18:53

BlackCat we obviously don't eat any meat at all but have just adapted the recipes accordingly.

I am letting tonight's cool and then I will put cling film on it and try to find a space for it in the fridge. If I was keeping it for longer then I would put it in the freezer in a clip lock box or freezer bag.

(for a veggie Korma, for example, I just added cooked potatoes, cauliflower, brocolli and green beans instead of the chicken as there is protein in the chick peas anyway. I also use the reduced fat coconut milk and haven't noticed any difference.)

I am just wondering when it should be wineWine o'clock ???

I might have to wait till DD is in bed. We are letting DS stay up till about 9.00pm today. I think they would be tired if we let them stay up too long.

Are yours staying up late?

I wasn't sure about later than 9.00pm because telly isn't always suitable and we like a bit of time as just adults onlyXmas Wink.

roastparsnipsandbrusselsprouts · 31/12/2011 19:12

I was just thinking the same thing BlackCat. It is becoming a bit of a habit Xmas Blush

We have let the dcs stay up in the past if we have been at a party with them and they were fine. We aren't tonight though and it doesn't seem to have occurred to them. We are having a mini family party here tomorrow so I would rather they were as well slept as possible for that instead.

roastparsnipsandbrusselsprouts · 31/12/2011 19:13

Oh posted a bit quick.

Was just going to add that I know a lot of my friends are letting their dcs stay up tonight. I think you can only judge on how good they are with lack of sleep and what you are expecting of them tomorrow.

BlackCatLookingForwardToSpring · 31/12/2011 19:16

I don't want DS to get too much out of his bedtime routine cause it's school next week but I think if we were out at someone elses house then I would let him stay up. So similar to you.Smile

BlackCatLookingForwardToSpring · 31/12/2011 19:21

I have decided to have a Brew as I don't want to drink (get drunk) too early Wink.

roastparsnipsandbrusselsprouts · 31/12/2011 19:25

Ah a Brew good call BlackCat

BlackCatLookingForwardToSpring · 31/12/2011 20:15

DD is in bed but not settling yet. At least it is exercise for us up and down the stairs Xmas Grin.

roastparsnipsandbrusselsprouts · 31/12/2011 20:40

Mine are in bed too but ds is not settling. Dd apparently told him, "scary stuff" in the bath and now he can't get it out of his head.

I have sent him back to bed with some picture books and a book on cd to listen to. There is only so long you can read a book out loud for!

OP posts:
bessie26 · 31/12/2011 20:50

Mine are both asleep, but I am expecting DD2 to wake around 10 with a nose full of snot.

I'm sat on the sofa playing with my blog & menu plan with a glass of wine, but am considering moving upstairs to do it in bed!

BlackCatLookingForwardToSpring · 31/12/2011 21:26

I was just thinking it must be wine o' clock now. Xmas Grin
Wine Cheers!

DD is asleep at last but DS is still up. He will be going to bed soon.

bessie26 · 31/12/2011 22:38

I'm in my PJs, in bed, drinking wine Grin - we don't have to shine our sink until tomorrow, right?
