I have tried Fly but can't stick to it. I need a plan! And I need support

OP posts:
stofstg · 06/11/2011 20:34

Lucy you have been busy today. Well done. The germs in your toilet must have thought they had gotten away with it lol

I have today done:

  • Sorted some old clothes to take to the charity shop tomorrow
  • Made breakfast, lunch and tea. kitchen all clean and dishwasher on the go
  • Emptied the kitchen bin
  • Went to my Mum and Dad's house
  • Done a washing load. Will iron it all tomorrow

I am now going to have a nice warm bath and read some of my book :-)

Mackrelmint · 06/11/2011 21:44

Sounds like a plan stof!

I feel tired just reading your list lucy-good job.

And glad you're pleased with progress countess - sometimes it has to get a bit messy in order to get sorted.

Well I had a lovely day eating cake and catching up with an old friend. I am going to recommend that everyone adds some 'me time' to their to do list for next week - I have come back feeling recharged and ready for the week (except that I forgot to shop and have virtually nothing for breakfast)

as for work well I'm feeling quite on top of the laundry, the kitchen is clean and I found some more stuff to charity shop so not bad

tomorrow must meal plan and do a towel wash...

lucytails · 06/11/2011 22:38

stofstg - lol i actually still have'nt done the downstairs loo yet. I got as far as unscrewing the bleach bottle when my sister phoned!! I then watched downton abbey. i have done the ironing though. You've been busy yourself. Well done. Hope you had a nice bath!

Mackrelmint - mmm cake. Must get myself a cake tomorrow!

Ok, i'm gonna go and do the loo now. Will be back in a few minutes so i can finally tick off all my list!

lucytails · 06/11/2011 22:53

ok. Downstairs loo all bleached, wiped, and is clean, fresh and germ free :-) i have also just put the bins out for the binmen tomorrow too. I'm so glad i have got all my housework done today. I always feel better about the house when its all clean and tidy.

countessbabycham · 07/11/2011 00:22

After all my efforts today I settled down with a book.
Then got up and did some dusting.
Then settled with book again.
Then washed up and did some sewing that had been knocking around for ages.
So pleased with my efforts that I keep having to have a bit more of a go.
Perhaps this is what its like when you've finally finished decluttering, have a place for everything, and want to keep it that way...
Haven't done a late night clean of my loo lucy but it needs it and is on tomorrows list.Have finished my book though Grin.

Keep at it tomorrow everyone!

HauntyMython · 07/11/2011 09:09

The good news is DSS is out of hospital and starting to feel better. :)

The bad news is we haven't done much - uniform ironed and more washing hanging out, that's about it really. Ebay stuff selling quite well, got more to list tomorrow and heaps of stuff to take to the post office today (a right PITA with no car!).

I have a day off, in lieu of training tomorrow, so I am torn between wanting to make the most of it and wanting to SLEEP. It's our 3 year wedding anniversary tomorrow.

Mackrelmint · 08/11/2011 12:25

Hello, how is everyone?

Happy Anniversary Haunty! and hope you're enjoying your day off. Glad DSS is better too.

I am quite excited because I actually feel on top of the laundry for once. I can't ever remember having to wait until I had a full load to do the next lot. I know this is going to be a VERY short-lived state but I am celebrating it whilst I can...

next jobs - piles on stairs, and carting stuff off to charity shop.

sarahfreck · 08/11/2011 13:38

So - I'd like to join as I sometimes feel clutter gets the better of me.
I am trying to work ( I work from home) plus do some sorting/admin today but am easily getting distracted ( by Mumsnet).

I am going to do an hours work followed by a work room tidy-up (honest!). then see where I've got to!

sarahfreck · 08/11/2011 16:45

Well - done 2 hours work and had a shower and put on "working" clothes (as opposed to "slob round the house clothes") to get ready before student comes. Aiming to do another hour of lesson prep (for tomorrow morning) and at least empty bins before student arrives at 6.30pm!

sarahfreck · 08/11/2011 18:27

Bins done at least. Need to teach then do more work and at least put out washing on airer.

Mackrelmint · 08/11/2011 19:32

Hi Sarah - sounds like a busy day! Are you going to put your feet up once the washing is out?

I need to put some washing away this eve. Other than that though I think I'll have an evenng off - my back has been killing all day.

sarahfreck · 08/11/2011 21:04

Just off to put washing out, eat and put feet up!
Mackrel - bad backs can be very tiring. Hope you feel better soon.

Dawndonna · 08/11/2011 21:39

I did two shelves in one cupboard and a drawer yesterday. Have a small downstairs room to sort and a sitting room. Kids just dump stuff everywhere!
Would love to do the bedrooms, if I can get in there!

HauntyMython · 08/11/2011 22:00

Just checking in briefly to show off say I've made about £100 on ebay in the last week from selling random crap! Not including the stuff DH has sold. Tis worth the effort of listing I reckon :o

Mackrelmint · 09/11/2011 09:32

ooh well done Haunty - I have some stuff I thought I might ebay (clothes) but the effort of listing has put me off - I've never done it before. Perhaps I should try and give it a go though - if I could raise enough from the old clothes to buy a new dress for wedding coming up that would be wonderful as otherwise feel I can't justify it and should try and use an old dress of my sister's that I don't really love... hmmm - will think about it.

thanks sarah - it's a pregnancy related bad back I think (18 weeks with no 2) so it comes and goes, but sitting at a desk all day certainly doesn't do me any good!

hi dawn - good work on the shelves and cupboard. I spent absolutely ages on a cupboard recently and only managed to reduce 4 shelves worth of stuff down to 3 - quite disappointing. Am going to have to have another go I think...

sarahfreck · 09/11/2011 09:44

Hi there

Wow - Haunty - you are an inspiration. I have a load of books ( mainly Haynes Manuals) that need listing on Ebay, but I keep not getting round to it! Perhaps I should try to get on with it - might help fund Christmas!

Dawn - well done. I sorted some paperwork in my workroom yesterday but still at present can't find my business insurance documents! Blush. It's bugging me but I need to get on with other things today!

Mackrel - hope your back is feeling better today.

OK - so today I need to:
Do at least 6 hours work, including teaching, lesson prep and admin.
Go to the bank and Morrisons.
Put a load of washing on before I have a bra emergency situation.
Update tax credit people now I've finally done last year's tax return
Try and find some time to go through my Dad's finances. (He is quite ill so my sister and I are having to deal with a lot of stuff for him!)

I wish I could get beyond admin type tasks to do more housework-y type things but it so often doesn't happen. Never mind - maybe I can use the tables in my living room for multi-sensory writing practice in the dust!

HauntyMython · 09/11/2011 23:11

We've got 29 items to post tomorrow. Post office staff are going to hate us. Blush

Done fuck all apart from that, BTW, so don't be too full of praise :o

sarahfreck · 10/11/2011 10:35

Grin Haunty! I do think you are doing well.

Well you will be pleased to know that the bra crisis has been averted. I also did everything else on the list above except my Dad's finances. Today I am aiming to:
stop messing about on mumsnet get a bit of work done before I have to go out at 11.10;
back for lunch then at least 2 hours work before I go out to teach at 4:10pm
Teach until about 7:45 then go straight to my church group Bible study.

Can't see me finding much time to look at Dad's finances today either Blush

On the plus side, I did clean the bathroom sink this morning! Shock

Mackrelmint · 10/11/2011 11:18

That's the kind of thing I'm not getting round to either Sarah - not my Dad's finances but similar admin kind of things - filing, address change notifications, getting stuff ready to hand over for a volunteer role I'm giving up. I don't know why I find those things so hard to get started with; I know I will feel so much better once they aren't hanging over me.

countessbabycham · 10/11/2011 21:52

Mackrel and sarah (hi) - been so busy that not had time to pop in,but just had to agree re:admin chores. I have honestly come to the opinion that I'd rather organise turds in order of size than get on with the paperwork organisation that I need to do! I have had a word with myself though and I'm determined to really crack on with it this weekend. It's what my head says I need to do,although my heart says clear leaves and sort the bedroom shelves....
Mackrel you're so right about it hanging over you - I only tackle paperwork when I'm going to bed at night and laying in a panic thinking I haven't done something important...It's not really a nice way to be and I know once I've made myself sort out the crap I'll be able to be far more streamlined and on top of it. It's just doing it!

Haunty sounds like you're doing well. You say you've done fuck all else other than E bay - but it still counts and you're making money too!

Other than not doing paperwork,I have consolidated all my previous clearing out and found new and organised homes for some things as a result, and done a bit of painting.I'm knackered but still determined!!!!

Bossybritches22 · 11/11/2011 07:49

Hi shit-tippers all! Grin

Sorry to go AWOL but have been trying to catch up ( & failing) after last w/e 's race around.

This w/e the DD's are with their Dad so I aim to be on MN Get Things Done!

Finish lesson plan for Monday (last minute as ever)

Washing up to date & ironing-whilst watching the last episodes of the Jury on catch-up (I only got as far as Weds, don't tell me anything!!)

Give dog a really good wash brush & haircut after long walk.

Sort out some paperwork on desk-I think there is one somewhere under that lot >>>>>>>> points to random mountain of stationery in corner

Clarabumps · 11/11/2011 08:01

Morning!!I'd like to join. today my mission is....to clean the black hole under the stairs...SO MUCH JUNK!
Need to do it as i fear there may be something hiding in there!theres not a light in there so it'll be a job.
Wish me luck...if im not back in 24 hours send a search party!!

HauntyMython · 11/11/2011 09:58

OMG yes the cupboard under the stairs... Argh!!! Ours was full of crap from when we moved in in 2008 Blush we actually cleared it completely earlier this year, it was amazing though scary when the stuff all fell out avalanche-style. It is slowly filling up again though mostly it is car seats, spare chairs and boxes - so at least it's not as bad... right?!?

I think the boxes are full of stuff that didn't sell in the boot fairs we did - so even more stuff to ebay. It's really exciting but there's a deadline now, as I'm assuming it quietens down at Xmas. I want to get as much sold as possible in the next few weeks.

Laundry mounting up again :(

Also embarrassing question but do any of you cluttery people also find looking after yourself quite difficult? I need a shower...

sarahfreck · 11/11/2011 14:41

[smug emoticon] I don't have any problems with my cupboard under the stairs. ( Did I tell you I live in a flat Grin) However pick any other cupboard in my highly cupboarded flat and it is a different story! Clara - don't forget your Kendal Mint cake and emergency bivvy bag as you venture into the black hole!

Hoping to tackle some of my Dad's finances stuff today!!
Other things to do:
Write up yesterday's lessons;
Work admin;
Teach;
Prepare another lesson for tomorrow;
Clear up washing from living room ( and maybe clean and tidy a bit?!!) before student's mother comes and sits in it while I teach student!
Put a load of washing on;
Possibly, if I have the energy, do an Aldi shop!!

Haunty - I really should try and get some of my books on ebay whilst the Christmas rush is on!! It is quite low on my list though Sad. I can identify with the self-care thing. I shower every morning (nearly) but really find it hard work to get myself into the shower - it all seems such a palaver - and takes 45 minutes when I factor in hair-drying!!! The other thing I find hard is making myself cook nutritious meals rather than eating rubbish!

Countess - hope you do get some of your paperwork done. I find just listing everything that needs doing helps a bit!

Bossy - hope you have a productive day. If it is any comfort, all my lesson planning is last minute, but then I find if I do it too far in advance, I lose spontaneity and enthusiasm and the lesson is more "dead" somehow!!

Hi ho hi ho and off to work we go.......

Bossybritches22 · 11/11/2011 21:40
