I joined a thread which started in January and it made an enormous difference to the condition and calm of the household.

I have lapsed Blush and thought I would go back to basics and start again.

Anyone want to join me?

My dcs go back to school on Tuesday so I thought I would start on Tuesday morning.

Day 5, not sure what I've done but I signed up for the Big tent and flylady but so far have received no emails from flylady? Going on what everyone says maybe that's best. Haven't come up with the negative voice list as we've been to busy blackberry picking, buying new shoes and cinema maybe that will kick in later.

bad luck on the parking ticket gossip hope you get a better night to make up for your early start.

blackberries in freezer
washing done and dried (still on line, must get it in) oh oh negative voice must write down
sink shining
supper prepared just need to cook it.

suprised what a difference getting up and fully dressed to shoes makes.

GossipWitch · 31/08/2011 20:43

I am in bed to hopefully get up early that is if my darn children would go to sleep again I have ds2 in my bed as ds1 is watching a dvd before I turn it off in a few minutes.... How that will go down I don't know, ds2 is currently prodding my (covered up) breast and saying "a boobie mum, I like it a boobie, dayton hab boobie, look dare it is" oh the joys!!! but he's almost asleep yay !!!! so I got all the clothes out ready, alarm is set for six so that I can do my morning routine before school, so that I can strip wallpaper and gloss my skirts tomorrow, which will be great as I can then get kelly's mission for today done as well as tomorrows, in theory.

AngelDog · 31/08/2011 20:57

Anyone around to give me a prod? Have been wasting time on MN again Blush

DH is out. We were home late so I haven't cleared the kitchen, which I try to do before putting DS to bed, or I just lose enthusiasm. If the kitchen's tidy when I come down from DS's bedtime, I have more motivation.

Done:

  • 3 x washing loads
  • 2 x washing on line
  • 2 x washing up / dishwasher
  • looked at Lakeland storage bags
  • went to see friend
  • went to market

Carrots, IMO the Lakeland bags are fab. I've ordered a couple more. The outer is completely separate from the inner vacuum bit (think they're joined at the bottom) - so if the outer gets bashed, the inner shouldn't puncture. They've got stiff card in the sides so they hold their shape. I got a king sized duvet & 3 pillows in the jumbo one, and there was room to spare. The standard ones look tiny but hold quite a lot of clothes. The underbed one was huge!

To do:

  • clear kitchen
  • wash up
  • hang out damp washing
  • try to go to bed at a reasonable hour
Carrotsandcelery · 31/08/2011 21:06

Evening everyone.

I am posting tomorrow's http://www.flylady.com/pages/bbd17.asp babystep here as I will be up and out early tomorrow and not back until late afternoon I suspect.

It looks a good step for those going back to work and school runs etc in the next few days.

Since I last posted I have sorted the airer and folded the massive pile of clean laundry but that is about it. I got totally distracted by my exercise class. You can imagine how little got done when I worked if a 45 min exercise class throws me into chaos. Shock

I won't get much done tomorrow - I am supposed to have a night out but I am not sure if I will feel up to it by the time I get home. I will judge nearer the time.

I hope everyone has a great day.

Morning everyone, sounds like it's a good day today, glad to hear you're more rested.

acrunchieandacupoftea · 01/09/2011 09:59

My main problem is TOO much STUFF in a small flat.. I need to try to declutter but it is difficult throwing out clothes and kids toys. I am a hoarder! Sad

obrigada · 01/09/2011 11:22

Morning everyone, Day 4 of babysteps for me, which seems to just involve writing down first 3 babysteps Confused

Canistaysane · 01/09/2011 13:22

Hi, acrunchieandacupoftea Great name! Do you want to join us?

I have been out most of the morning.
My next mission will be washing up (again). My kitchen is a right mess.
I need to try to get it done cause tomorrow we will probably be disconnected from water while they try to fix the leak. Wish me luck as it's not my favourite job!
Most of us seem to be doing well so far.

AngelDog · 01/09/2011 14:09

Hello everyone.

Cani, you're right, I've made lots of progress since coming here - thanks for suggesting joining this thread! :) The house is tidier than it's ever consistently been. :) :)

It's come at the cost of taking a lot of time though so I've not been seeing friends much or doing a lot with DS. I'm feeling slightly nervous of termtime starting as I'll have 3 mornings a week out of the house, so I don't know how I'm going to fit everything in. I need to learn to be faster & more efficient at things, I think.

Good luck with the washing up, Cani.

acrunchie, have you read the hoarders thread on the Good Housekeeping board? Lots of support there for hoarders.

Gossip, sounds like you're having a good morning.

A good morning here.

Done
2x washing on
1x washing hung out
1x dry washing put away
changed sheets
rang doctor
cancelled Graze boxes
cleaned veg drawers in fridge

I'm starting to flag though as DS was up for 2 hours in the night again (although we slept through the alarm so we got a bit more sleep!)

Later:

  • go to library
  • make dinner
  • clean washing machine
  • play in garden
  • do 15 mins decluttering
acrunchieandacupoftea · 01/09/2011 14:09

Hi, thanks, yes - I'd love to join in.

I have done loads of tidying up today, making DS's room look lovely, and loads of washing, so maybe tomorrow I will be able to work out how to declutter and follow the babysteps.

(Do the babysteps include hiring a skip..? because i think it may be necessary)

Also, do you guys share photos of finished rooms and features because that would be really inspiring. Smile

Canistaysane · 01/09/2011 17:03

Obrigada Yes the first few babysteps are a bit "nothing" if that's the right way to describe them as you sort of feel like your not getting anywhere but I suppose it's to try to get you into the right habits.

Angel yes that's the hard bit isn't it. I mean if your at home doing house work you miss some of the other things you could be doing. But on the other hand if we get really good at it we should hopefully get to a stage where we won't need to do so much. That's the hope anyway!

acrunchie Hope you don't mind us shortening your name. You sound like you are making good progress.
About the baby steps - Carrots and Celery usually puts a link for them each day
or you could just go to FlyLady website and click on babysteps .
About photos - I wouldn't know how to do that (I'm not very good at technology) and my house is a work in progress any way. I think it might be a while before I call any room finished.

To do:
I will have to go and cook dinner in a minute
More washing up (still not finished)

GossipWitch · 01/09/2011 17:03

I have stripped the wall paper ready for decorating tomorrow, and all the stripped wallpaper is in the bin !!!! i think I'm getting house proud Grin, I also brought lots of bulbs for the garden so I'm going to be planting them this weekend so that there ready for spring. Grin

Carrotsandcelery · 01/09/2011 18:07

Evening everyone. Sounds like lots has been going on today.

Welcome Crunchie - I too have a serious clutter/hoarding problem so we should get on great.

Dh was left in charge today. He was working from home so didn't have much time but he seems to have cut the grass and loaded the dishwasher so that is a start. Unfortunately it didn't occur to him to put the dishwasher on Shock so our dishes will be a bit behind for sink shining tonight. He did buy me some chocolate though so I will forgive him Grin

He is off tomorrow so has decided to take me out (I was at a funeral today so need a bit of cheering up) so we are going to be decadent and spoil ourselves for a day.

I am hoping that now the funeral is over I cheer up a bit and get back my enthusiasm for flying - I have been a bit flat all week. Fingers crossed.

Canistaysane · 01/09/2011 19:07

GossipWitch We need to finish wall paper stripping in our bedroom. We started it about a month after we moved in and never carried on with it, it's nearly a year since we moved here now.

Carrots Sorry to hear about the funeral, Hope it wasn't someone close.

I must try to get on in the kitchen, Does any one else struggle to get all their washing up done?

Canistaysane · 01/09/2011 21:07

Pleased to report, all washing up done (with help from DH)Grin
Not sure what I will do tomorrow because we should be having repairs done.
I also have to go for an appointment. DH can deal with water people as he has day off.

shouldbeelswhere · 01/09/2011 21:40

Yay, well done on the washing up Canistaysane and DH :)

welcome acrunchie totally relate to the toooo much stuff. I might have sounded all chipper this morning and self congratulating but the bit you don't know is that the tent is still unpacked in the dining room. It has now moved to the table rather than the floor. :(

obrigada have you noticed the power of the lace up shoes? rather than dump stuff by the back door I have been putting it outside in the bin or the car where it lives. slow but steady progress.

I cannot believe my sink has been shining for 6 days, that is unheard of! DH can't quite believe it either.

Thank you so much carrots for introducing this, hope you are ok.

AngelDog · 01/09/2011 22:33

Well done, Cani, Gossip and shouldbe! :)

Carrots, sorry to hear about the funeral.

On the subject of photos, someone on the hoarders thread here suggested taking photos before you start FLYing / decluttering, and then some more when you've made a bit of progress. You can use them to motivate yourself to keep going as it's easier to see what progress you've made. I'm going to get the camera out soon, I think.

We are currently pretty tidy on the surface, but not very organised and there is lots of clutter in drawers / cupboards.

I really enjoyed my 15 mins of decluttering - didn't really throw anything away, but I tidied quite a bit of DS's grown-out-of stuff away.

To do tomorrow:

  • clean washing machine (hot wash is on right now)
  • wash more bedding
  • menu plan
  • revise laundry schedule
  • reply to some e-mails
missmakesstuff · 01/09/2011 23:50

Everyone has been very busy today! Carrots, sorry to hear about your day, hope you feel happier tomorrow.

I had my training day at school today, not too bad, managed to get up and out pretty successfully, even made the bed and managed a quick tidy as we had friends minding DD at ours this afternoon.

I need to get DH on board with tthe mornings though, he leaves after me and when I get home there are still drawers left open, bed unmade, everything left as he has left it when moving aroud the house getting ready, drives me mad! he starts a new job soon where we both have to leave at the same time, so he needs to get more organised. I am going to be on his case this weekend!

I am exhausted even though I got home pretty early too, which doesn't bode well for next week. I did manage to do the mission from yesterday, sort some washing and do the washing up and tidy the kitchen and dds toys though, plus have spent the last 2 hours working.

DD has been a nightmare to get to bed the last two nights though, tonight I ended up bringing her downstairs to play as I had had enough of sitting up with her crying. she played for a while and finally went to sleep about 30mins ago. It's shattering as I get no time to myself. luckily I am working from home tomorrow, so will be able to get some more work done when she naps at lunch. hopefully.

Hope everyone else has a productive day! going to look for apps for my new phone, see if there are any flying related ones! thinking I could set alerts for the things I need to do each day at the very least, to get organised.

Canistaysane · 02/09/2011 07:37

Morning all, Feel a bit "Flat" this morning. Don't know if I'm getting a bit of a cold.(dh has one). Or if I just need one of my magic SJW pills Confused.
Maybe it's just too early in the morning to feel good!Sad.
Is anyone else MNetting yet?
