Anybody interested in joining me for a flylady thread, starting with the babysteps?

I joined a thread which started in January and it made an enormous difference to the condition and calm of the household.

I have lapsed Blush and thought I would go back to basics and start again.

Anyone want to join me?

My dcs go back to school on Tuesday so I thought I would start on Tuesday morning.

Yes, although would rather be in bed! DD had us up till midnight, then was awake again at 5am, she is teething again I think.

I really should be getting on with something now she has gone back to bed but I am just sitting here wasting time!

Hope you feel better - I think I need more coffee and a shower whilst I have chance.

Robotindisguise · 02/09/2011 08:04

Morning Carrots, sorry to hear about your loss.

Up since 6.30, and so far have emptied the dishwasher. DH watched me do it while having his breakfast, then left his dirty cereal bowl on the side Angry

I'm trying to stay on top of things but it's feeling like a losing battle at the moment

Canistaysane · 02/09/2011 08:08

Hi Missmakes, Sorry to hear about your lack of sleep, It's horrible isn't it if you don't get enough sleep. How old is your dd now?

I need to try to make myself get on with stuff this morning I think. I'm off to get dressed and make my bed.

shouldbeelswhere · 02/09/2011 09:17

Come on everyone, you can do it. Have a Brew and get on even if it's a 2min hot spot.

DC in car so must dash, love the idea of an app to give you a prod. My phone's on its last legs.

is your sink still shining? Catch up later

Canistaysane · 02/09/2011 09:49

Have had another coffee and feeling a bit better.
Have done:
Get dressed
Breakfast
make bed
wash up
Cleaned worktops
phone doctors

GossipWitch · 02/09/2011 11:17

I am exhausted from yesterdays hard work, after I last posted I mowed the back lawn which took 2 hours and 2 mowers, I then glossed my living room, which took 3 hours, its still tacky so I am now at a friends house being waited on while I sit on my big fat bum waiting for the paint to dry, wilko's still haven't rang me about the wall paper, so I'm waiting on them too.

obrigada · 02/09/2011 12:16

Morning everyone, today should be babystep number 5 for me but am going to skip to babystep 6 as babystep 5 doesn't seem to really move me on, if that makes sense, so today I will find my hotspot and spend 2 minutes on clearing it. Hope everyone is still motivated, my house is a mess and I really want to get it in order, and hopefully this will work for me:)

Canistaysane · 02/09/2011 13:23

Not much going on here. I have the workmen digging a hole in back street.
I got into helping dd making another traintrack

AngelDog · 02/09/2011 14:09

missmakes, that sounds like a miserable night. It could be developmental - there's a developmental leap at around 75 weeks (16/17 months I think) and sleep is often messed up ahead of it.

I bet your DH doesn't even realise what a state the place is in when he's left. Could you try taking a couple of photos of what it should look like & how he leaves it so he can see what you mean?

cani, sounds like you've had a productive morning. Hope you're feeling a bit perkier.

Gossip, enjoy the rest after your hard work. :)

Carrots, how are you feeling today?

Robot, my DH does the same thing with the dishwasher. He doesn't even realise he's doing it!

Feeling a bit low today but DS slept a bit better which was nice.

Done:
collected home grown fruit & veg from nice Freecycle lady
loaded dishwasher / washed up
put breadmaker on
cooked rhubarb for crumble
planned dinners
cleaned washing machine door & seal
2x washing in machine
1x washing on line
put DS on toilet (he has started asking to use it from time to time)
gave DS lunch

To do:

  • plan lunches for the next few days
  • clean WM filter & detergent drawer
  • update laundry schedule
  • reply to some e-mails
  • cook dinner
  • roast squash / aubergine for tomorrow's dinner
  • skim fat & freeze dinner cooked yesterday
Canistaysane · 02/09/2011 14:34

I don't know if the weather has anything to do with how people feel?
I find when it's Grey like it is here today I feel less happy than on a sunny day.
I'm o.k. though just not quite as happy as I felt yesterday.Confused
I think when you have strange people doing work at your house, (as I have) you don't feel like you can carry on as normal. I will be happy when it is fixed!

Canistaysane · 02/09/2011 15:00

We have a new water pipe in the back street so fingers crossed all will get back to normal(cautious Grin emoticon)Grin!
Yay!, We hopefully can now have baths and showers at home again!Grin

Carrotsandcelery · 02/09/2011 17:17

Evening everyone.

This is today's babystep I was about to dismiss it but decided to read it and actually think it is a pretty good list of commandments. I know flylady can seem a bit cheesy sometimes but I think her general philosophy rings true.

I am very sad today and very weepy. Dh took me to the cinema to see Fright Night, which was a bit rubbish but I have to admit it took my mind off things. Colin Farrell can't sort it out but he can distract for a wee while Grin
Thanks for your messages everyone. I am working on the theory that keeping busy and doing the housework will be very good therapy while I come to terms with this.

Cani fingers crossed on the water pipe - I vote we all celebrate with copious Wine when you get your first bubble bath.

So far today I have:
Put on a load of washing
Got dressed to knee high leather boots (which seems to have pleased dh Wink)
Dh made packed lunches, loaded dishwasher and got dcs to school (Note to self - must wear nice boots more often!)
Have been to cinema and out for a cuppa

Still to do:
2 x 2 min hotspots
5 min room rescue - kitchen again as it is a midden
15 min declutter
Kelly's Mission
Make something for tea
Dishwasher/sink again
Toast my much missed love one with a wee glass of Wine or 3

OP posts:
shouldbeelswhere · 02/09/2011 18:09

Is your water working Cani? Have you tried it out?

OP posts:
Canistaysane · 02/09/2011 21:58

Yes, it's GREAT! [Grin] Gave dd a bath tonight as she smothered herself with some chocolate cake we had for pudding.
Will give ds a bath in the morning. They both took a long time to settle tonight.
I think it's going to be hard getting them back into the school bedtime routine.

bessie26 · 02/09/2011 22:30

miss get the home routines app - 'tis very fly!

AngelDog · 03/09/2011 00:14

Can't be bothered to write my done list but I've clearly failed to go to bed on time.

Tomorrow:

  • put out bins
  • change bath mats
  • wash more bedding
  • clean washing machine
  • plan lunches
  • update washing schedule
  • reply to e-mails

Carrotsandcelery · 03/09/2011 11:55

Morning everyone!

In breaking news: I slept ALL night! I could not tell you the last time I did that. I am not gloating btw - just offering hope to the rest of you who have as little sleep as I usually do. On the downside I had funny episode just after I got up which involved being passed out on the bathroom floor for a while, frightening the kids. Hmm This is a trick I used to perform on a regular basis but which I haven't been doing for a few years. Poor dh - as if this week hasn't been strange enough.

Anyway I am fine now and much less weepy so I am ready to get going.

So far I have:
Washed and dressed (trainers again so I doubt dh will be as indulgent!)
The dishwasher has been on
Made dd her packed lunch as she is off being sporty for the day
Taxied (sp?) dd to her sporty activities
Collapsed on sofa with laptop

Still to do:
2 min hot spot: sideboard
2 min hot spot: top of keyboard
5 min room rescue: bathroom once boys are out of bath
15 min declutter: ds's bedroom, with ds, as he has ASKED if he can tidy his room Shock
Today's babystep: which is here
No missions at the weekend but there is the option of doing any you missed during the week
Make my bed
Make some food for everyone
Reload dishwasher no doubt and clean worktops

I am so chuffed for you about your water Cani - I hope you get to lounge in a bubble bath soon.

Angel 'tis very easy to get sucked into the vortex called Mumsnet - hope you have a relaxed day.

shouldbeelswhere · 03/09/2011 13:54

Morning everyone or should I say afternoon - on a bit of a go slow today but have managed to write out morning and bedtime routines and got DS to read the back to school thing on flylady.

The tent is in it's bag! (now exposing all the junk piled up on the dining room table) a hot spot challenge!

Glad you've got hotwater Cani

Canistaysane · 03/09/2011 14:43

Have done so far:
Breakfast
ShowerGrin
get dressed
make bed
ds went for trim with dh
ds bath
cat litter tray
been shopping for school stuff
had lunch

To do:
Wash up/dry up
clean worktops
cook tea?(not sure what we are going to have yet)
Do washing?(not sure whether to as it is really rainy here so I would have to dry it indoors)
Also have to go shopping as we are short of nappies.
Feel a bit like I CBA.

Carrots glad you slept well but hope you are o.k. after your funny turn.

Canistaysane · 03/09/2011 14:49
