Anybody interested in joining me for a flylady thread, starting with the babysteps?

I joined a thread which started in January and it made an enormous difference to the condition and calm of the household.

I have lapsed Blush and thought I would go back to basics and start again.

Anyone want to join me?

My dcs go back to school on Tuesday so I thought I would start on Tuesday morning.

Spent the evening cooking dinner to take to a friend who's got no kitchen at the moment, so not lots else done. But I've washed up & wiped down the surfaces, and the floor is tidy. And I did my first 2 mins on a hotspot - it looks much better!

miss, I'm exhausted just looking at the list of your day! Your small steps ideas sound sensible.

cani, hope you're feeling less tired now.

To do tomorrow:

  • market shop for fruit & veg in morning
  • pack up dinner for friend
  • cook our dinner
  • visit friend
  • put away dry washing
  • change bed sheets
  • try out duvet storage bags - I really must do this!
bessie26 · 30/08/2011 23:30

miss & robot - i used to have a different list for work & non work days & even now I'm on mat leave I have a much smaller list on the days I am at home with both DDs.

I also find doing ad much as possible the night before like should suggests makes life alot easier. DH always thinks it's pointless doing things like laying out the DDs clothes or pscking the bag for nursery, as "it only takes a couple of minutes" but IMO all those 2 minutes add up & I would rather spend them in bed drinking tea than rushing around!

  • got both DDs bathed & in bed
  • wrote meal plan & shopping list
  • did laundry
  • abandoned all dirty washing up for DH to do when he got home from golf
  • had a bath
  • shined sink

Morning all, I tried to get an early night last night (9.30pm) but ds didn't go to sleep till 10.00pm and he likes his light on until he is asleep. Then dd had a disturbed night as she wanted her nappy changing at 2.00am she then took an hour to go back to sleep. Up at 7.00am today so better than yesterday.
I have a lot of respect for those of you who manage to work with young dc.
I just don't think I would get everything done. And it must be really hard if you get woken up in the night.

GossipWitch · 31/08/2011 08:40

cani for the last year or so I have had to deal with interrupted sleep due to ds1, the child doesn't sleep! so you often hear a sleepy me saying "get back in bed" at 3 in the morning in my home, and that teamed with ds2 coming into my bed at any time of the night because he's been woken up by ds1, and sleeping sideways kind of makes me a knackered mummy, so I totally know how you feel, things are so much harder to do when your tired, and the little things tend to nag you more don't they! I find coffee and a lot of it gets me through my day. It is really hard, especially if your like me and rely on a good amount of sleep to keep you going.

shouldbeelswhere · 31/08/2011 08:41

Morning Canis my house was even worse when DC where babies. I was so much more relaxed with my 2nd as I knew that once I had a full nights sleep I could do so much more. So all you with babies out there, I'd just say it will get easier be gentle with yourself if you haven't had much sleep!

Hope you schedule in an afternoon siesta Canis. All this up at 2am lark takes it's toll.

obrigada · 31/08/2011 09:30

Morning everyone, sink still shiny:) As I said yesterday I changed babystep 2 to ensuring I shower before work in the mornings rather than swish and swipe at sink Blush. Had my shower this morning so that's first 2 babysteps done. Going to look back through the thread to find out what babystep 3 is.
Sympathy for all of you with young children, my youngest is 16 so it's been a long time since I had to wake up with a baby ... old emotcion Wink

bessie26 · 31/08/2011 09:42

cani & gossip copious amounts of (decaff) tea & chocolate are the only way I cope! DD2 only woke once last night (4am) and thankfully went back to sleep ok after a feed. I think I need to take her for more vaccinations, she sleeps so much better after them!

Canistaysane · 31/08/2011 09:45

Todays To do list:
Hmm
Breakfast
Get all dressed
2 min hotspot
15 min declutter
Look at Kellys missions (maybe do one)
make beds
wash up/dry up

obrigada · 31/08/2011 11:05

Had a look at babystep 3 and it's to continue with first 2 babysteps but it also says something about bigtent Confused and daily lists, can anyone tell me is there something else I should be doing today?

Carrotsandcelery · 31/08/2011 11:09

Morning everyone! Sympathy to all who had a bad night's sleep. Ds went to dh not me last night so I feel a bit better today. I agree with bessie - I used to drink Pepsi Max to see me through but have switched to decaff tea instead. It seems to do the trick and makes me feel like I am being kind to myself too.

So far I have:
Made packed lunches
Washed and dressed
Got dcs to school
chatted to friends again
Sorted out tonight's tea
Loaded the dishwasher
Cleaned the worktops
Put a load of washing on
Made my bed
Polished my winter boots (it is that sort of weather here already)
Cleaned out a guinea pig cage - little guy seems to be on the mend Smile

Still to do:
Room rescue the kitchen
2 min hot spot - clothes airer
2 min hot spot - pile of laundry from tumbler
15 min declutter - not sure where or when
Exercise class is today instead of tomorrow so I will be off to that later Grin
Still have ironing on my list - will see how I get on Blush

Today's babystep is a very easy one.

Today's mission is here - I think I will manage that along with my room rescue.

I hope everyone has a good day - keep us posted!

Have stopped for a coffee( Not that I really got going yet!)
Cyber kick coming your way GossipWitch
Have done:
Breakfast
Get dressed
Make beds
Put one load of washing on

ObrigadaI will have a look at Babystep 3 for you. I don't think you are missing anything but if I find anything will keep you posted.
I think most people advise against signing up(dont' fill in form) at big tent. I didn't sign in but still watch the odd video at big tent if I feel like it. If you sign in you get loads of emails from FlyLady. Or so I've been told by other people.
If anyone did sign in what happens? I'm just curious!

Canistaysane · 31/08/2011 11:34

Crossed posts Carrots GossipWitch.

GossipWitch · 31/08/2011 11:38

you get to go into the site catch up on the news watch the video, have a calender thing etc, don't really take much notice I generally skip it tbh lol. bum got kicked I'm off to get dressed.

obrigada · 31/08/2011 11:43

Thanks again CanIs, don't want to sign up for e-mails, just noticed that it said something about daily lists, so if you find out anything you can let me know. Cheers again:)

GossipWitch · 31/08/2011 11:47

Still here ...

GossipWitch · 31/08/2011 11:54

I am finally dressed, beds made, washings in, just need to get ds2 dressed then off to town for my refund mission, should be fun!

Canistaysane · 31/08/2011 11:58

Obrigada I noticed it says about daily Flight plan.
At the side of the screen it has a list (in purple). Click on "Fly zone" and you should find the Flight plan.

obrigada · 31/08/2011 11:58

Best of luck on your refund mission Gossip Grin

Carrotsandcelery · 31/08/2011 12:06

Obri this is babystep 3

I think you can sign up to just one email a day if that is better.

I wouldn't get into looking at the flight plan stuff as you may frighten yourself right off the whole thing. It works better if you just build up gradually.

I seem to have got stuck.

AAAAArrrrrggggghhhh mumsnet is taking over my life!!!!! I'm actually going now. Will tell you how I get on later.

Canistaysane · 31/08/2011 14:38

I know what you mean Gossip. I go on here when I stop for a drink. It's hard not to get sucked in. I think it's cause I have no adult company for most of the day.
Here's my update:
both dc dressed
Emptied bin in living room
sorted a small amount of paperwork
Just having late lunch as dd threw a big strop and is now asleep.

GossipWitch · 31/08/2011 14:48

I got my replacement !!!! they said that it shouldn't only last twelve pages even in block colour as it's supposed to do over 300 here's your well deserved replacement Grin so after I have done my getting ever longer morning routine think i might miss the breaks I'll be getting on with a friends recipe box. Grin And then making more mess as per!! Things I need to do today :-

put out hotspot -kitchen side
5 min room rescue -kitchen
15 min declutter- lounge
gather rubbish
kellys mission

tonight after dinner and recipe box done
shine sink
lay out clothes
put out hot spot - edge of sofa
read email
delete emails

missmakesstuff · 31/08/2011 15:09

Well done gossip I have a long list of things I need to write off about or get refunded etc, never seem to get done.

I had a bad start to the day when I got a parking ticket for £35, not best pleased. Got a new phone though, very happy about that, as was due n upgrade anyway.

I have done a fair bit today, washing mostly done, been sorting through work clothes, so now have a pile of ironing and mending to do, plus know what I need to buy to see me through the year I think.

I have done my hotspots and 5min bathroom clean, 15mins was doing clothes, just have to do the mission, which I can do in front of TV, plus try and work out my phone!
Just need to do the food shopping, I have been very good and planned a menu for the week until my next day off, so hopefully it should all last us, that is if DD stops taking one bite out of things then spitting everything out again, think she is teething again, but there are only molars to come through now, and it's a bit early for those I think.

my only plan for this evening is dinner, mission, bath then early night, have to be up at 6am....boo!
