Roll up, roll up. tis the month of school fetes, sports days and annual reports. In all this flurry of extra activities and with the summer holidays hurtling towards us at rapid speed, now is the time to tame the chaos before our very special chaos creators are able to help us. Fully intending to beat the Can't Have Anyone Over Syndrome so that my personal chaos creator can be occupied by others this holiday. Good luck to all to are also striving to achieve this.

Starting from the 1st of the month we shall be fluttering our way to tamed houses. If you are new to the system it is recommend that you focus on making the babysteps your main focus. The babysteps will build up to form routines to help you to stay on top of the house once you have discovered it. First step is to shine your sink. But not just half heartidly, deep clean til it shines Instructions here

For the more established flyer we then progress onto decluttering. 15mins each day in alloted zone of the week. New zones each week. and current zones and decluttering instructions can be found here Zones will automatically update for July.

As for the advanced flyer, there are missions to do each day in the current zone

We have one rule we are NOT perfectionists anything is better then nothing, real life gets in the way and we have to do other stuff other then cleaning (put it on your list, tick it off and :) ), besides the fat fairy's moto is "You are never behind"

As such take the vomit inducing cuteness of the website with a pinch of salt, and join us for wish lists formally to do lists , ta da lists and home bleurghs. Wink

See you bright and early tomo although hopefully not too bright and early.

Tbh Bartlet i think i am drinking so much ice water in attempt to freeze away the lingering headache that I might be in danger of either having to take up residency in the bathroom or evolving gills [hhmm]

Treated myself to a mid afternoon nap. feel fractionally more human. Heading off to tackle landing and bathroom. Before taking another break. The joys of ds' room.

BlueEyeshadow · 13/07/2011 13:23

Aaagh!! Just had the most ridiculously pointless and depressing row with DS1 over how many pieces to cut his sandwich into!! In the end he then took the !$%^&*T% thing apart and ate it all seperately anyway. Angry and also Blush with myself for losing it so badly!

Still, have been to music and post office with DS2, done some dusting and cleaned the washing machine and tumble drier.

Hands round Brew and [biscuits] - I'll just sit in the naughty corner and try to regain my composure before heading back to the boys...

CHBitchy · 13/07/2011 13:28

Enjoy.

Stillchuckingit · 13/07/2011 14:09

Hi everyone

Crikey! Miss half a day and you lose track on here! So much to catch up on ...

Sympathies Blue those sort of disputes can drive one potty!! Have another Brew

Bartlett wish I could write a children's book as good and popular as "Dear Zoo". It would only take one good idea like that to guarantee financial security for the rest of one's days [sighs and looks longingly in to distance]

However, with a less monetary perspective, love Silken's dd's alternative ending!!

A warm welcome to Jennie Sounds as if you are off to a v. good start!

Glad things are settling down a bit in your house PA and that horrid ex-bf of your dd is off the scene. You all deserve a lovely holiday in Greece after all recent stresses.

Sorry you have been struck by dreaded migraine again CHB although glad you've caught up on sleep. I've given up caffeine recently because of lack of iron and I must (reluctantly) admit that I've had very few headaches since then. Which is wierd because caffeine can sometimes alleviate them Confused. Currently drinking 'bio' coffee substitute made out of ground and dried acorns fennel and it is utterly disgusting!!

You are on a roll Tulipsia! (Hope your foot is ok!)

So sorry you had such a disappointing school visit Toffee. I like PA's idea of joining parental support group so you can get some backing behind you (and some personal support). Also sounds right that school should comply with psychologists recommendations. Feel so Angry and Sad on your behalf that you are having to battle like this.

Ihate Congratulations on your new job!!!!!! And enjoy your allotment harvest .. sounds like the makings of a summer pudding (yum!)

Swan Many congrats to your ds2 and his wonderful musical performance!! Brilliant stuff!! Good luck with holiday prep!!

Pamelade congrats on your lovely 18 week, 17lb boy!!

Feetheart hope our respective butterflies are still happily fluttering about somewhere!!

OFM glad the system is working for you

Huge waves to Whoknows, Pink, MC, Elliepac, Reastie and everyone else I've missed

Not much Flying accomplished yesterday apart from odd bit of tidying up. Docs appt was as expected (no firm conclusions - more blood taken) but positive overall. Had haircut (not great but neater than before) and bit of a supermarket shop.

Dh got back from foreign climes late last night only to take off early again this morning. DD and I have been out doing errands this morning. Bit of a dull, cloudy oppressive day - should be enthusiastically leading her in some creative play session, instead of which I am cleaning my oven ...

Like CHB feeling the pressure of impending visitors ....

Toffeefudgecake · 13/07/2011 16:22

DS2's sports day is over and our visitor has been and gone. All went well. Phew. House not looking bad either.

Thank you all for your nice messages about DS1's school. Apparently, the school are not legally obliged to follow any advice provided by a private educational psychologist. The Catch-22 is that you can't get that report provided by an NHS psychologist (they only do a screening for dyslexia). I'm beginning to realise that it's just one long list of delaying tactics, so that by the time you catch on to what's going on your child has left school and not cost the authorities a penny. I'm thinking of writing an email to the SENCO to express my concerns - but then I wonder if I should just wait and see how it goes for DS1. It's a dilemma.

The good thing is that he definitely seems happier at the moment - I think the Prozac may be working (it's 12 days' now). He even asked to come with me to see DS2 at his sports day, which was most uncharacteristic.

DH has come back and is pushing me off the computer. Will try and get back on later.

Tulipsia · 13/07/2011 16:55

Bah didn't get anything else done and for no apparent reason Confused I always seemed to be doing something.

I vacuumed again. But only the living room, still got the stairs, landing, dd's room, ds1's room to do.
Still got to sweep cobwebs down from corners of all rooms, may just do that tomorrow now tho.

Got mine and d 's tea on, just off to go put away the dc's bedding that I should've done hours ago, and the clothes that I've been patiently sitting on the kitchen chair all afternoon....

Feel all funny now, I've come over all tired. Really CBA anymore.

Can't remember who it was that asked about the sink reflections book? Would just like to say it's fab! The writing is a tad 'perky' for me, almost patronising, but as a whole the book has really helped me get my arse motivated. There's lots of routines and advice, as well as testimonials at the end of every chapter. I'm so glad I bought it.

Smile
CHBitchy · 13/07/2011 18:47

Oh toffee that is fabulous that he asked to come to sports day! small steps are fabulous. Anything in the right direction is fabulous.

Not got anything done this afternoon. Ds has been in meltdown mode. I have some lovely bite marks down my arm and i have had about enough of today. thankfully ds has calmed a bit, and i have a fabulous babysitter. I am getting some r&r for a bit this evening.

OverflowingMum · 13/07/2011 19:39

evening all

Apologies in advance for lack of individuals etc... I am in VVV grumpy and fed up mood. Sad
Work situation continues to be rubbish and begining to feel distinctly taken advantage of and expected to do way more than is possible due to lack of medics (not my fault LOL)
2 oldest kids being just downright horrible and foul to me and younger dc and nothing I try to do seems to help
younger ones all just generally exhausted and grumpy
DD3 (Aspergers) having approx 2 melt downs a minute due to the stress of all the "extra" stuff that is going on at school and general change to routines etc...
DH also not feeling V well and so not on top form

right....rant over LOL

have another week swan till the end. Lucky you finishing this week (mind you ds1 finishes this week, others have another week.) Good luck with last minute Eire plans
toffee schools will ALWAYS tell you that DC "wont get" a statement. It is all part of the plan to put you off. I would suggest maybe reading some threads on the Special Needs board as there is always some fab advice on there about special needs input at school and statements etc... If you feel barve enough you could start a thread as I have always got some great suggestions from folks on there.Good to hear that at least ds is seeming a bit brighter.

House not too bad though. Made lasagne for dinner (prepared before work!) washing almost up to date, beds stripped and remade. Managed 4 mile run - which I had hoped would cure my grumpiness but doesnt seem to have worked!

had things to do this evening...may get round to them, but am seriously feeling a strong case of CBA coming on...
possible need to just veg in front of TV then go to bed LOL
am trying to resist the bottle of gin I have lurking at the back of the cupboard Wink

BBtomorrow - hopefully in better spirits

Ihatecobwebs · 13/07/2011 22:53

Am tired tonight, so having a quick sit down and cup of tea before I finish making the strawberry sauce. This afternoon didn't go to plan, as DS had invite to go and play, so that was most of our afternoon gone. We went up to the allotment this evening instead, so DS a bit later to bed.

Done
Drove to DM's
DM, DS and dog into car to vet
Vet
DM, DS and dog back to DM's
Left DS with DM, to go on bus to playgroup
Drove to garage, left car
DH brought me home (complete with car seat, DS's overnight bag and cuddly toys!)
Washing on line
S/s
Make beds
Clean clothes away
A few minutes breather
Zone cleaning
Zone mission - done all for week now
Make tea
Collect DS from playgroup
Lunch
Walk to friend's house as DS was invited over to play
Start filling in my new Life Book
Finish sampler block
Tea
Allotment - dug 1 bed, didn't get the leeks in though, picked strawberries, raspberries, tayberries, currants, peas, broad beans, carrots
Get DS into bed
Evening routine
Washing on airer
Handwashing as DS managed to bolognaise down himself and the seat pad at tea time
Sorted veg
Sorted berries into freezer
Started on the strawberry sauce

Left to do if I can gather the energy
Washing in machine for tonight
Finish strawberry sauce for freezer

swanriver · 13/07/2011 23:21

[gingerly unrolls the scroll and hopes it doesn't snap shut on her fingers]

SC has wisely given up caffeine and has moved on from wormwood and lavender and apricot steeping to grinding acorns
CHB needs some marigold salve for teeth marks [applies salve] but also has found babysitter salve (the best sort of salve really)
OFM is justifiably fed up with the end of term and its effect on everyone, yet her CBA has outjunipered the gin bottle, we are all put to shame...
PA has wished for jobs for dd1, woodland walks with lovely teens, and time to herself after a very busy (and I hope fulfilling)day Smile
Toffee so glad you didn't let visitor bug you, such a balance isn't it, being welcoming and not feeling pressured by expectations/judgements. How great ds1 enjoyed sports day too. Btw, I loved the MIL being sent off to knitting! (wish someone would send me off to knitting Blush hope she was enthusiastic in the end...
Feet thinks she is not Flying but she is Wink
and is running a tea shop at Sports Day
Pamela is enjoying summer with her beautiful baby, and booking her holiday cottage Grin
Tulip has started decluttering, deep cleaned high chair, dealt with all bedding, felt much better for a good night's rest, and kept the modern day equivalent of a journal (funny, I was thinking about ths the other day, how computer/is really equivalent of all those 18th personages publc and private writing letters and pamphlets, and not so modern after all, think epistolary novels)
Bartlett cleverly got ahead and avoided stress by preparing food for evening guests in advance, and has mastered morning routines
Blue like the rest of us finds small children's reaction to our food preparation very wearing Hmm Tonight I gave ds2 2 pieces of bread and a lump of cheese, and a plate of red pepper (raw kind) and said here is your supper my darling, he was perfectly happy, whereas a more [ahem] beautifully arranged sandwich would have met howls of despair
Cobweb has started a market garden and even a school, as far as I can see (phonics already! wow!) mm strawberry sauce Smile
has driven a fair way, even if not 100 miles today and deserves several cups of tea to go with her alchoholic quilt. Fab name Smile I can imagine it now...and all the poor women who must have invented it...
(Dh had a very drunken business lunch today, so I can imagine it all too well)

Pink I hope your decorator rematerialized, and I think yesterday you were trying to get lots done, funny how some of us are thinking hols is beginning of sorting our lives out, and some the opposite...not even sure which camp I'm in.

ellie is not actually in the naughty corner but next to OFM on what should be classed as the exhausted hard working persons' cushions, but not surprisingly is looking forward to the holidays.

and Raises Glass to anyone I've Missed, SC I think you did a fabulous roundup for me already...thank you [thinks of butterflies]

[snaps scroll shut] Ow!

swanriver · 13/07/2011 23:27

Tulip hoovering is very tiring, don't think you didn't do enough, think point of flying is a little bits not everything done to perfection in one day, easy to think one has to get whole house tidy in one day (Not Possible) except after several weeks of habits, zone cleaning, decluttering etc. Especially with small children, important not to overdo it.

swanriver · 13/07/2011 23:30

Cobweb also see you were disappointed about not finishing everything, BUT YOU HAD SOMUCH ON YOUR LIST, you did loads and loads, and it was lovely for ds to go and play with his friend, very happy memories. I often think all that time socializing was very important to build friendships which stood me practical stead and saved me time in the long run; quite frankly I should have done more socializing and less cleaning Hmm

PositiveAttitude · 14/07/2011 07:38

Good morning ladies Smile.

Bit of a pain, all these issues with mumsnet! Hmm

Toffee - brilliant about DS wanting to go to the sports day. One step at a time, that?s a good start.
Lots of sports days going on at the moment. It makes me a little Sad that mine are too old for those now.
I am a bit in awe of everyone?s lists and what you are all able to get done in a day.

Day off today, so need to be organised and run round even faster than normal Confused.
Washing/put load on line/sort/iron adinfinitum!
Hoover - its never ending
change bedsheets x all the beds- just to add to the washing basket Hmm
Quick clear up in all the bedrooms
Take 4 x bags to recycling centre
Attempt to mend curtains in our bedroom so that they can be closed for the first time since we moved in 10 years ago Hmm.
Fill in a mammoth application form that really needs doing, but is going to take me soooooooooooo long.
Governors meeting this pm.

Right, after reading all that back I realise I sound more like "negativemoaner" than PositiveAttitude! Hmm

Perhaps I should go back to bed and start again today. Oh I cant, too much to do........

CHBitchy · 14/07/2011 08:30

I need coffee. A big bucket full. :( Squash and juice just doesnt give you the same get up and go kick in the morning.

Too much to do here too. Not good.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 14/07/2011 08:59

Morning all .

Too much to do, aargh!

reastie · 14/07/2011 09:15

pamela I need to do the same as you re: booking holiday cottage, prob is can't find any nice ones that are cheap and free the week we want it Hmm

ch give it a week if you can and it will get better, oh, and have some nurofen ready for the withdrawl headaches (which WILL go)

Think I need pride of place in naughty corner as I'm finding it so hard to keep up with thread. But, [proud] have ordered my flylady book from amazin and hoping it will arrive today and also have started doing lists properly. So, but belated but yesterday I:
-hoovered playroom, hall and sitting room
-dw all done
-tidied dining room
-polished wood furniture, photo frames and fireplace tiles in sitting room
-did boring paperwork/sorted pile of to do bits
-did telephone appointment bits
-cooked homemade pizza
-shined sink
-swept and cleaned kitchen floor
-made bunting for dds christening
-did paperwork for dhs business banking
--picked up a whole heap of free baby clothes ( Grin to this one) and began washing/sorting them
-hung up a load of washing
-did online supermarket order

as you can tell it was a really dull day Blush . today I am shattered as woke up at 4am after a nightmare and couldn't get back to sleep, well, I did but then DH woke me up soon after by getting ready for work Confused

reastie · 14/07/2011 09:16

of course I mean amazOn not amazIn Blush

swanriver · 14/07/2011 09:20

Whoknows oh, I left you out last night. Apologies

This morning feels like old/cold spaghetti Hmm
Ds1 has sore[conjuctivitis???) eyes from cold and swimming yest, said he had finished his project, but the last moment I realised he had not Hmm That took all of ten minutes to make the front page look less like tattered sock, but lots of tears and screaming. He is now at home till the Disco this afternoon, but I need to hand project in, or teacher will think he is at home finishing it Blush

Mess everywhere after Beavers/Brownies/pianolesson yesterday - don't quite know where to begin, whether to think about all outstanding things/errands and panic, or just quietly and steadily tidy up house for now..Decaffeinated coffee (I've run out) is not helping.

It is boootiful day though Grin perks up - washing can go on line pronto as there is a delightful breeze and the bamboos are swaying invitingly!

swanriver · 14/07/2011 09:22

Reastie that doesn't sound dull! That sounds super productive. I like the bunting too.

feetheart · 14/07/2011 09:41

Am meant to be working but need quick MN fix first :)

Also need advice on doing weekly shop online. Never done it before but can't face dragging DC round Sainsburys during summer so need to have a go - what do I need to know?

Ta Da already:

  • Run
  • All up, fed and out. DS off on first school trip to open farm place and very excited
  • Stripped DC's beds
  • 1 load washing done and out
  • S&S and 2 easy peasy bathroom missions (our bathroom is tiny so not hard to sort out)

Now need to work then will be back with To Do list, length of which will depend on when I get fed-up with finish work :)

Have good mornings everyone

Toffeefudgecake · 14/07/2011 11:46

Haven't done any of my morning routines because I have been plunged into some absurd mini-drama to do with MIL's bank account, which involves endless phone calls and me now needing to go down to pick up a letter from her which needs to be faxed to her solicitors. She was asked to fax details over to them - can you believe it? She's 81, frail and living in sheltered housing - as if she can fax something over. Plus she is totally confused by money issues, so was asking me which account she should use, as if I would know better than her Shock.

However, I was very good last night and sorted the kitchen out before I went to bed so came down to a shiny sink this morning. It does feel good, doesn't it?

List for today:

Library
Visit MIL
Fax letter
Collect DS1 from MIL
Lunch
School run
etc etc etc.

Anything else is a bonus.

CHBitchy · 14/07/2011 12:48
