Roll up, roll up. tis the month of school fetes, sports days and annual reports. In all this flurry of extra activities and with the summer holidays hurtling towards us at rapid speed, now is the time to tame the chaos before our very special chaos creators are able to help us. Fully intending to beat the Can't Have Anyone Over Syndrome so that my personal chaos creator can be occupied by others this holiday. Good luck to all to are also striving to achieve this.

Starting from the 1st of the month we shall be fluttering our way to tamed houses. If you are new to the system it is recommend that you focus on making the babysteps your main focus. The babysteps will build up to form routines to help you to stay on top of the house once you have discovered it. First step is to shine your sink. But not just half heartidly, deep clean til it shines Instructions here

For the more established flyer we then progress onto decluttering. 15mins each day in alloted zone of the week. New zones each week. and current zones and decluttering instructions can be found here Zones will automatically update for July.

As for the advanced flyer, there are missions to do each day in the current zone

We have one rule we are NOT perfectionists anything is better then nothing, real life gets in the way and we have to do other stuff other then cleaning (put it on your list, tick it off and :) ), besides the fat fairy's moto is "You are never behind"

As such take the vomit inducing cuteness of the website with a pinch of salt, and join us for wish lists formally to do lists , ta da lists and home bleurghs. Wink

See you bright and early tomo although hopefully not too bright and early.

Evening all,

Wise words indeed Swan. Ellie my DS is starting to take more responsibility for himself but it is a gradual process. There has definitely been a shift recently, he had always been one to panic and flap if he can't find something for example, now he is getting better at searching. He still leaves stuff behind at school and cannot pack his own rucksack, loses stuff all over the place, but is starting to realise that it matters. I have had some success with the strategy of explaining that if he splashes wee on the floor it isn't very nice for mum to have to clear it up, also that the more clearing I have to do the less time I have for playing. We also stress the word teamwork, if I ask him to do some tidying I help him. He can be absolutely foul though, cheeky, rude, hitting (by which I mean fairly gentle swiping, he doesn't hit to hurt IYSWIM).

NickNacks ouch. Agree about Corrie BTW.

NicwNacw · 30/06/2011 21:46

Would like to join in please. Started to fly in Feb, but lots of family drama (DH diagnosed with cancer and DS 2 with diabetes) got in the way. Things are slowly getting back to normal but my house is a tip and I'm struggling to regain control. Hate, hate, hate the mess and chaos - makes me feel SO fed up Sad

ColdHeartedBitch · 30/06/2011 21:59

Come one come all jump back on board.

Flying visit just to say rl is taking over a bit tonight and it will be late before i can get fully sorted with links. Sorry.

Much progress here, but not enough to warant sitting at the computer. Steps will be up before morning promise.

Makingchanges · 30/06/2011 22:21

Sneaks back in sheepishly - Can I return please?

I've finished my PGCE so now just waiting for the paperwork to confirm I'm a proper teacher (Oh yeah and a job!!) Been for an interview this week, but without success and registered at a few supply agencies.

I really need to get on top of housework - Nothing has been done in my house except the minimum for weeks. Have started to file away all my paperwork but that is all. I also need to get back to some me time and need to get some exercise as I've put on a stone in the last 2 months of placement.

Jobs done today

  • Washed my car inside and out (Exercise??)
  • Paperwork mountain stage 1
  • Tidied out fridge
  • 3 loads of washing
  • Start another application

Tomorrow I have booked a gym session (My first since about Feb -oops) and have to pack bags for a weekend away. Only to the East coast but some time away is what I need.

I hope everyone is well and hope to catch up on what everyone is upto.

Ihatecobwebs · 01/07/2011 00:11

Not that long - promise to do better next week Grin

ColdHeartedBitch · 01/07/2011 02:14

Right, those who remember last time i ventured into linky land, will remember that generally I try to get links out before too late, however, often fail. As for roundup I can be pretty crap. Appologies.

Today has been a mixed bag, and quite frankly I am glad it is over. Demons are being dealt with that means that life is pretty tough and some pretty bad demons have been faced today. I am now feeling drained. To top it off ds has been in meltdown mode for the last two weeks.

However, I have managed to do a ta da list:
Laundry
folding
ironing
moving chest of drawers (one in my room into ds' room and vice versa)
reogranise furniture in my room
find ds' training stuff
ds to training
Sort a box of stuff
Go through half my wardrobe and cull unwanted/not worn clothes
Have a very large bonfire with pgce stuff
Deal with the destruction caused by ds this morning
Deal with ds behaviour Angry
Pack ds' bag for his contact weekend
15mins decluttering in Lounge
Confirm plans for saturday
sort out travel plans for saturday
change the calanders over to july
Remove fuse from TV plug for ds' tv ban

A pretty productive day all in all. Especially considering it would appear it has been another eventful day in mn world. Amazing what a suspect computer power connection can do for productivity. Wink

Right now to the important part, over 34 posts in and it wasnt even July. Although, judging by the time on the bottom right hand screen we can safely say "Pinch, punch, first of the month"

So roll call time:
LadyInPink, Linzer, Janey, Swan, Ellie, DWM, THACA, Toffee, Blue, Ihate, SC, Ernest, WhoKnows, Silken, PMPY, NicwNacw, Making. Right i make that 19 fledglings for the start of the month.
Good luck in chaos sorting to you all. Newbies and oldies alike.

LINKYS

Last month was 30 day so for the established here is the last of the babysteps.

For the rest of us the first babystep is to shine your sinkinstructions here

We are still in the Living Room Zone so once the babystep is achieved 15 mins of decluttering in this zone, or the mission which will update for tomo crosses fingers in hope

Just remember: You are never behind.
Dusters at the ready and i will see you all at some point tomo Grin

Sleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep. Night.

LinzerTorte · 01/07/2011 06:35

Morning all,

I've started the month as I mean to go on, and have so far:

emptied the dishwasher
made my bed (DC still in theirs)
swished & swiped
put the washing on
made DS's snack for kindergarten
put the rest of yesterday's washing away
drunk my water and taken vitamins etc.
checked/updated today's to-do list (my iPod has just changed Betriebskosten [sort of like council tax] to Bettie smidgen!)
checked the calendar

Admittedly, this has only been possible because school doesn't start until 8.45 am today and so the DC are still asleep; normally, I would be rushing round like a headless chicken trying to herd them out of the door at this time of the morning. Was just going to write that I still have 10 minutes before I need to wake them, but I think I can hear someone moving around upstairs so will go and investigate in a minute.

Thanks for the links, CHB (psst - I think we're in the entrance and dining room today as it's the start of a new month Wink).

elliepac · 01/07/2011 06:36

Morning all!

New month, new steely resolve. I have properly fallen off the flying bandwagon over the last couple of months and hoping that this month is one when I am going to get back on top of things.I am going to follow the babysteps like a good girl and hopefully get back in the swing of things.

Thank you to everyone for all your advice re DS and his behaviour. swan you are a genius and I think you words are absolutely correct. I am going to change the way I think. I suspect I am maybe guilty of mothering my golden boy a little too much and things won't change overnight. I probably have just as much of a problem adjusting to the fact he is growing up as he does Grin. In my head he's about 5 and I have probably been treating him as such.

ihate a little disappointing might i say, i didn't have to scroll down to see it all WinkGrin.

makingchanges congratulations on being a fully fledged teacher. Welcome to the madness. The PGCE is an incredibly tough year so well done for surviving and good luck with finding a job. I have to say, without sounding too cheesy, I bloody love my job. Yes it drives me insane, yes i work ridiculously hard but it is the most rewarding job and it is a privilege working with children (most of them Wink, some i need a bloody medal for Grin). Oh and the holidays are pretty good Grin.

chb if you ever need me to do a round-up or links just let me know.

nicwnacw what a horrible situation to be in. Sad.

dwm good to hear you have the all clear from the doc. I shall see you in the naughty corner in a coupleof days after the initial enthusaism has worn off. I will bring wine Grin.

husbandsatcricket i still don't really understand flylady that much and I have been on this thread for nearly two years. You have plenty of time Wink.

Better go and get readyfor work. Thank God it's Friday!

Big waves to everyone I haven't mentioned and have a good day!

elliepac · 01/07/2011 06:38

x-posts with linzer who has put my list:-

drunk coffee

to shame already Grin.

LinzerTorte · 01/07/2011 07:51

I think I may have already reached my peak, ellie. Grin

Have just dropped off all the DC, so now have around 50 minutes to myself; I think the mission might be a good place to start. Now where's my timer?

Curlyfrizzball · 01/07/2011 08:05

Forgot to say that I'm still in for this month. Friday is my day off, so try to blitz a little, but don't usually achieve much!
So far today:-
Up and breakfasted (me and dd)
Clean dishes put away
Kitchen sides wiped
Hobs wiped

To do:-
Get dressed
Meet lady about doing the garden
Go to toddler group
Hoover
Quick bathroom clean
Sort out paperwork, bills etc
15 mins decluttering
Washing up
Shine sink
1 load (at least) of washing
Get stuff ready for going away overnight tomorrow

PositiveAttitude · 01/07/2011 08:19

Good morning everyone. Grin

Already too much for me to catch up with this morning on here. Blush

Welcome to newbies and waves to oldie!

Manic week this week due to Island Games being held here. Last evening we went and watched the road bike racing . Not quite Tour De France more lap de Wight! Grin Although a little excited when I realised that the man DH was having a conversation with, stood next to us was Nigel Mansell! DH would talk to anyone, so I didnt take any notice, then looked and thought, "I know him", it was a few minutes later that I twigged it was someone famous, then a few more before my brain caught up as to who!

Today is one of those stupid days that happen a couple of times a year when I have to go to all 3 jobs and do a few hours at each! Hmm I end up with brain ache!!

List:
Washing on Line - done
Empty DW - Forgot to press "on" button last night, so will have to wait until after work.
Feed animals Done
Sandwiches Done
Organise DS with all his ingredients for cooking at school. His own recipe salmon cakes , so no dinner needed tonight. Wink
Job No1
to Job No 2
to Job No 3
Hoover upstairs (downstairs done yesterday)
Book meal for tomorrow. (Planning a surprise wedding anniversary meal out with DH - have sneaky suspicion that it could be more of a surprise than I want for him, as I do believe he has forgotten our anniversary yet again Sad )

Have a good day everyone. Smile

BlueEyeshadow · 01/07/2011 09:16

Well, DH and DS1 have gone on their adventure so I'm trying to get everything sorted while playing with DS2 who is feeling a little bereft!

Done:
Washing
washed up breakfast stuff
car half packed

To do:
washing on line
rest of packing
take Ds2 to park
lunch and wash up
get DS2 to nap in vain hope he won't sleep in the car
finish packing car
tidy up toys
pick veg to take with us
washing in
DH and DS1 home
Hit the road!

Phew...

Waves to all. Probably won't be back on here till Monday now.

swanriver · 01/07/2011 09:29

droitwichmummy · 01/07/2011 10:06

Morning!

Working from home today and finding motivation hard so before midday I will
Turn laptop on and go through e-mails
Empty & reload DW
Reload WM and hang the wet washing in the basket out to dry
Drink coffee

Back at lunchtime...

janeyjampot · 01/07/2011 10:18

Hello!

So many people! I had a look, felt scared, ran away, and then resolved to come back and post something, even if it wasn't something meaningful! I think if I'd been 30 years younger I'd have been diagnosed with Aspergers, and although I seem 'normal' to my friends all the personal stuff is hard for me to get right. I read it all and I often think about people who've posted during the day, but I just don't know what to say in response, especially to the sad things. Does that make sense? Sorry to be so feeble!

My DDs have today off school - it's one of those INSET days or whatever they are currently called. Thus everything is a bit distorted, but at least I didn't have to do lunchboxes Grin

Today's list, then:

Conference call with colleagues in Australia - done. Always feels odd that they are on Friday night and drinking wine while I am still on Friday morning and drinking coffee.
Sandwich for DH - done
Wipe kitchen surfaces and do dishes - done
Washing - one load done and on the line
Ironing
Swish & Swipe
Quick hoover around the downstairs
Feed the birds (garden is full of baby blackbirds and robins :) )
Take DDs shoe shopping Shock

I am not going to do today's mission because I did the lounge very thoroughly on Tuesday, and no hotspots have dared to develop in the interim!

Good luck with the FLYing today, especially to the new joiners. I see Swish & Swipe is the habit of the month - for me that's been the best thing about FLYlady and a real breakthrough for my house. If the bathrooms are clean I don't mind people calling in and this has helped me to get a grip on the rest. The routine is so quick and easy that I have managed to stay with it.

LinzerTorte · 01/07/2011 10:20

Back home from school with the DDs and their all-important certificates. Now having a coffee as all my momentum has deserted me and feeling a little fed up (again) about the English lessons, but have done enough moaning about them already so will restrain myself for once.

Really need to go out and buy ice cream for DD2's party. Actually, I should probably finish the ironing and get the rest of the washing out of the dryer first, but will just finish my (second) coffee...

LinzerTorte · 01/07/2011 10:26

Janey You really don't need to worry about doing personals; I don't always have time either, or sometimes - just as in RL - I'm not feeling particularly chatty. Just do them if you feel like it. Smile

Re swish & swipe, I decided I'd left it too long when I noticed DD2's friend putting down toilet paper on our loo seat the other day before she sat down on it. Shock (Disclaimer: I may not have been swishing & swiping every day recently, but our toilet isn't that bad. Grin)

droitwichmummy · 01/07/2011 10:33

Janey I rarely have time for personals and usually just whizz by with my list to give me something to focus on. Just keep popping in from time to time.
My swishing & swiping needs re-invigorating but the toilet is pretty good since I rediscovered toilet duck! I just squirt it round most nights before I go to bed (I am usually the last up) and it is sparkly in the morning. Just need to add the other bits and I will be back on track Smile

BartletForAmerica · 01/07/2011 10:46

Am I too late for the roll call? I wasn't around yesterday to enrol. Wink

Ta da
Shred - getting a bit easier
Bedrooms
Bathroom
Laundry
Singing practice

To do
Out to the shops for a couple of things (Would you believe the veg box came WITHOUT onions yesterday?! Ah, the horrors of life I deal with - and so admirably too... Hmm Wink)
Prepare dinner
Shine sink
Desk jobs
Coffee date with DH
Zone cleaning (if I have time)
Sort out receipts for Sunday school

Lots of playing and reading stories fits in around these as well! There is a little boy trying to bite my Macbook now so I had better go!
