Roll up, roll up. tis the month of school fetes, sports days and annual reports. In all this flurry of extra activities and with the summer holidays hurtling towards us at rapid speed, now is the time to tame the chaos before our very special chaos creators are able to help us. Fully intending to beat the Can't Have Anyone Over Syndrome so that my personal chaos creator can be occupied by others this holiday. Good luck to all to are also striving to achieve this.

Starting from the 1st of the month we shall be fluttering our way to tamed houses. If you are new to the system it is recommend that you focus on making the babysteps your main focus. The babysteps will build up to form routines to help you to stay on top of the house once you have discovered it. First step is to shine your sink. But not just half heartidly, deep clean til it shines Instructions here

For the more established flyer we then progress onto decluttering. 15mins each day in alloted zone of the week. New zones each week. and current zones and decluttering instructions can be found here Zones will automatically update for July.

As for the advanced flyer, there are missions to do each day in the current zone

We have one rule we are NOT perfectionists anything is better then nothing, real life gets in the way and we have to do other stuff other then cleaning (put it on your list, tick it off and :) ), besides the fat fairy's moto is "You are never behind"

As such take the vomit inducing cuteness of the website with a pinch of salt, and join us for wish lists formally to do lists , ta da lists and home bleurghs. Wink

See you bright and early tomo although hopefully not too bright and early.

Grin

I screeched when I won and DS and DD4 just sat and rolled their eyes. They just do not understand the excitement! Hmm

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 12/07/2011 21:30

Well done PA, is it for you or DH?! Glad to hear the dreadful ex-BF is well out of the way too.

I really must get off this computer and watchsometelly go and do a few chores.

Wow overflowingmum! How on earth do you cope?!

BlueEyeshadow · 12/07/2011 22:00

Not much done today, and probably won't be for a while! Boys are home as CM is on holiday so hard to get the house bleugh done. Will attempt a bit of dusting and try to keep on decluttering the utility room. It probably will keep appearing on the list though as I've mainly just moved things around a bit!

Well done on the auction PA.

Wow, what an impressive list OM.

Waves to all. Night.

Ihatecobwebs · 12/07/2011 22:38

Received the job offer letter today, and I've got an induction session on Monday - panic - hadn't really thought about starting immediately, but don't want to turn it down. Really flexible hours, a few have to be in office hours during the week, the rest can be whenever the complex is open, so from 8 am to 10pm during the week, and til 9pm at weekends. Now need to do an emergency wardrobe overhaul, as jeans are definitely not allowed Sad

TWO stationery orders in today - I do love opening those, and putting all the bits away (even better when I can charge out for some of it Smile)

Done
Morning routine
Phone DM re changing vet appt
Work out logistics re dog to vet, DS to playgroup, car to garage, DH to pick me up from garage
Washing on line
DS to playgroup
Vet appt changed so phoned garage to confirm when car will be in

Pack overnight bag for DS
Clean washing away

Meet DM and DS at bus- stop, hand over DS's overnight bag and wave goodbye
Quilting course homework, chose Drunkard's Path design and cut all pieces

Washing on airer

Washing in machine

Now bath and bed

Tomorrow will be an early, busy start, and I'm never at my best then.

I Feel like Mr Toad when he first saw a car. Wow, this internet is faaast.
However, it has taken me till now to finally install, and tweak various unmentionables (which I still don't understand) but will be back tomorrow to give ROUNDUP. Mending man did a sterling job, and at £60, much cheaper than a new computer. And he has installed Office for me for a tenner (I lost Office when computer crashed a year ago - and never knew how to get it back (and anyway my printer didn't work) If only I had known there was this miracle worker lurking in the seedy internet cafe next to the laundrette Grin

Welcome to all newbies - your contribution is always much valued.

toffee glad ds went to ss with you (I think the more you do something that makes you anxious the easier it becomes, as long as it is not intrinsically horrid (like dentists Hmm or horrible children), and sorry about yours and CHB sleep disturbances. Ds2 is a very light sleeper too, luckily he is quite good at bedtime itself. Everyone went to bed at 10.oo pm tonight after watching school musical. Wired is not the word.

Ds2 had a large part. He was terrified he was going to get the giggles, or get stage fright. I was terrified too. I had to give him a long pep talk last night about method acting Confused and relaxation techniques ConfusedIn the end we had a pact that I wouldn't go (and I had to pick up ds2 from football anyway) and Dh who wasn't in the slightest bit worried about his performance would go instead. Performance went brilliantly, he didn't "corpse" (which is what I used to do on stage, it is awful Sad and we are both soo sooo relieved. He could hardly talk about it afterwards because he was so relieved. Except I didn't get to see tonight's performance (different cast from last night - where he also sang smaller solos) So will have to watch it off someone's video, luckily lots of the proud parents work at the BBC Wink For the last two years he hasn't been able to have a big role on stage because he just started laughing in embarrassment (very shy), but he is such a lovely singer and wants to star, so this time I forced him to audition, and he survived.
Practice is the answer I think.

The year 6 teachers have been truly marvellous bringing out the best of the kids for the musical at any rate, and lots of parts given to children who don't usually get a chance.

Right I have to go to bed, Dh is approaching.

Toffeefudgecake · 13/07/2011 00:52

Congratulations to your DS, Swan Smile. It sounds as if he did really well. You must be so proud!

Great news about the job, Ihatecobwebs, although the start date doesn't give you much time to prepare yourself Shock. The flexible hours sound great, though, and can hopefully fit in with family life.

CBA - yep, your son's sleep patterns are definitely much worse than my son's. I suspected they might be from what you'd said. At least once my son gets off to sleep he sleeps through for several hours and, if he does wake up at 3 or 4 in the morning, I don't know anything about it. It was harder when he was younger, of course. I do remember a joyful period when DS1 wasn't getting off to sleep till midnight or later, but DS2 was waking at 5am. I thought I was going to go mad from lack of sleep!

Hope your migraine goes soon, CBA.

Am feeling somewhat disappointed by my meeting with the Head of Special Needs at secondary school today. According to her: no, DS1 probably won't get a statement because he hasn't already got one at primary and if he didn't need one there he won't need one now Confused; no, DS1 can't use a computer to do most of his work even though this is what the educational psychologist recommended because "if he has one all the children will want one"; and no, DS1 can't have a yellow card to allow him to leave the classroom if he is feeling stressed because, again, "then all the children will want one". Apparently, the small group he will be in will provide all he needs in terms of help and support Hmm.

DS survived meeting with the EOW on his own and looking round the school again, brave boy.

Now I have to put on a brave face with him about going to secondary school when I have serious doubts about it myself.

Hypercritical relative is visiting tomorrow and instead of tidying frantically I went out for a drink with a friend. Won't have any time to tidy tomorrow because I'm out at sports day for DS2. So she will just have to take us as she finds us for once. I really cba.

Off to bed. Waves to everyone, especially those I didn't get round to doing messages to. Night all!

PositiveAttitude · 13/07/2011 06:56

Good morning everyone. Smile

Toffee - sorry to hear the school doesn't sound so good!! There is no reason for the school to say that he wont need a statement just because he has not had one yet! Have you been in touch with parent Partnership? Also, I think, if an ed psych suggests something the school have to comply. I would do some digging around and get armed with some hard facts to argue your corner. Poor DS. Sad
Good luck with your visitor today!

IHate - congrats on the job. Hours sound good. My job is "flexi" and I love it for being around in the holidays etc. Although sometimes I feel as if I have done a days work and then have a day at home when I have gone into work before 7am and wonder why I am asleep on the sofa by 10pm! Confused

Swan well done to DS!! Star in the making. Smile

Computer now going funny, so cant do any more scrolling, sorry! Hope it posts this message ok. Hmm

Right: Wish list for today:

Load washing machine
Unload Dishwasher
Breakfast
Sandwiches
Feed rabbits
Clear Kitchen tops
Sort the dried washing
Job No 2 - pop in and try to sort out a problem which has been caused by others not doing what I have asked, so very frustrating! Angry
Job No 1 - Plenty to do there at the moment!
After work - a little shopping
Make some phonecalls
Hoover downstairs
Washing on the line
Cook roast dinner
Bake a cake and bread
Help DD1 do some job applications
Hopefully I will have some work from job no 2 to do at home this evening if others have complied today! Hmm (trying to get this done before the holidays)
Forest walk planned this evening with DS, DD4 and a load of 13- 15 year olds from the church youth group.
Dh is out tonight, so feet up when I am done!! Smile

Holiday is just 2 weeks away! DS's Greek repertoire is growing by the day, but the content has me slightly concerned about what sort of holiday he thinks he is going along to! Added to his "12 beers please" he now has "Hi babe", "Your place or mine?" "you look gorgeous" and a few unmentionable ones, too. Hmm If I didn't know how quiet and shy he is around people he doesn't know, especially if they happen to be female, I would be concerned, also he hates the taste of dad's beer, so I think I am safe.

RIght, off to it.....

Have a good day everyone and apologies for not doing more personals, but waves to everyone. Smile

feetheart · 13/07/2011 07:24

Morning all, earlybird PA. Glad your DD is safely home with you now and hope there isn't too much fall out for her, what a hard thing to deal with for you all.

Been trying to keep up on here but its hard - too much chat :)
Just to say, in no particular order:

  • Well done to swan's DS
  • I feel your butterfly release pain SC, we were a few days ahead of you - ungrateful things just fluttered off over the garden fence never to be seen again Shock
  • Toffee - really seems like one step forward, one step back :( As said before friend's DS recently had statement done at secondary so NOT impossible. Sorry you might have to fight though.
  • OFM - love the casual mention of 7 mile run. I'm back running and loving it, did manage nearly 5 miles on Sunday but that's the furthest I've ever done.
CHB - hope you get some sleep!
  • Welcome to new Fliers, hope you can make system work for you.

Busy here - 3rd of 3 Sports Days today. Looks like a cool one which, if yesterday was anything to go by, will mean excellent tea and coffee sales for School Assoc :)

Looking forward to holidays now - far too many end-of-year things going on

Will slope off now before anyone notices there has been Absolutely No Mention of Flying............................:o

ColdHeartedBellatrix · 13/07/2011 08:17

I need coffee :(

Tulipsia · 13/07/2011 09:22

Good morning everyone, thank you for the lovely welcome Smile

Hope you're all well, I'm sorry that I haven't read through all the posts yet so no personals on this message but promise will read up as soon as my morning routine complete.

Done so far:

  • strip my/dh's bed (currently washing)
  • strip dc's beds
  • quick swipe of loo and sink, washed the bath completely (dh's manky water ring!)
  • opened all curtains
  • restocked loo roll
  • anti-bac'd kitchen sides/high chair tray/plastic toys+Lego box.

Still to do:

  • wash dc's bedding
  • remake all beds with fresh bedding
  • vacuum everywhere
  • sweep kitchen
  • attempt to declutter something from kitchen and master bedroom. I feel a few '27 thing fling' coming on Wink
  • write my blog (daily letters to my children, cameras just don't capture enough memories IMO)
  • peruse the next VIP sale listings. (obviously this is essential Wink)This is my halfway treat. Grin
  • start drafting the online shopping list from sainsbury's will place order on Friday for delivery next Wednesday/thursday.
  • get rid of the weeds that have rudely appeared beside my front door.

I'm sure there's lots more but that's a start at least.

WRT the weeds, this morning I discovered little plant sprouts behind my tv ShockShock. Last autumn we had our skirting boards replaced and it appears these plants have grown through the brickwork and under our new skirting boards. Can't say I'm impressed by FIL's handiwork tbh Hmm

Had a crap day housework wise yesterday - only vacuumed and cleaned fridge out (entirely tho). Dropped one of the glass shelves on my foot, those things hurt! AngryBiscuit

On the plus side, I had a lovely carvery lunch with my dsis and ds2 slept all night!! That hasn't really happened for 3.5 mths since teething began.

Anyhow must go do something. Smile

swanriver · 13/07/2011 09:51

Toffee I am so Angry on your behalf at SENCO's attitude. The responsive secondary schools I visited last Sept (was enquiring ahead for ds2(who is still only in yr4)) had yellow card system if classroom was getting too much. At the school ds1 is going to, they allow computer to encourage those with dyslexia, even when in some cases the parents want their writing to improve and don't want them to do homework on computer. I think you need to keep knocking on that door, use every weapon in your armoury, not be too cautious, and if necessary exaggerate any worry. Personally I have found the threat on my child non-attending due to stress to be a powerful motivator on the SENCO. They want high attendance at secondary, so it can be a lever on them to DO something.
On the other hand, a friend with a child with Asp has benefited greatly from a special friendship group set up by sschool, more in line with the special class your school is providing. Also things like being allowed to leave earlier for the bus journey home to avoid the crowds. I will have to ask her.

newbies don't feel you need to do personals, great thing is to concentrate on your own lists Grin, I think personals come when you have been on this thread for a while...and slightly bored with housework Blush

done
recycling
ds1 off on Coral Reef outing with lunchbox/swimming stuff (home clothes, he forgot that and had to come home again and change Blush
fielded several rows between siblings, ending with all three children being very soppy and giving me big hugs [aah - I think I had my calm face on today]
Ds1 and I now have terrible colds, no doubt the stress of performing and virtual performing Grin

feetOFM the end is nigh isn't it...Friday is the last day here. Only the
Leaver's Disco (need to find clothes for ds1 which have some pazazz), the Leavers's Mass. the teachers' presents, (one sorted, as two teachers are marrying each other] Ds1's party (trip to HP) and last but not least...

EIRE on Sat! no car sorted yet, unable to communicate any advance plans with overly busy mum who is always out, and brother who is always asleep when I'm awake, and sister who is permanently preparing for her next batch of guests..Looking forward to seeing them all.

swanriver · 13/07/2011 09:53

oh yes, and I forgot that ds1 still hasn't finished his desert island project..AngryBlush so will have to chase him about that this evening.

swanriver · 13/07/2011 09:55

PA I love your son's preparations, I think he will be snapped up!

BartletForAmerica · 13/07/2011 09:56

Tulipsia, don't worry about personals. Some people do them, some don't, some do them some of the time. Smile

CHB, hope you are feeling better. Remember small steps will get a huge amount done, even if you just do 10 min crisis cleaning, then 10 min rest.

Pamela, your DS is a good size. I've not had my DS weighed since he was 6 months old (I wanted to see what size I had got him too before starting food), so I'll be interested to see what he is when we have an 1 year review.

feetheart, hope the rain stays off for the Sports Day.

PositiveAttitude, have you got one of those phrase books? Some of the pages can be hilarious. I have one that includes things like chat-up lines and, em, more intimate language. Blush Maybe I've lived an innocent life but would you really want to be holding a phrase book in one hand while you...

Toffee, sorry things didn't go well at school. I hope you are able to sort something out.

It's nice to see that list getting shorter :)

Got some people coming this aft to collect some junk stuff that I put on freecycle - some cupcake carriers, baby bath, change mat, cupcake stand, me to you wedding cake topper. We'll see if they turn up eh?

TTFN - best get back to it!

Tulipsia · 13/07/2011 12:29

Thirsty first, think I'll put kettle on, get dc's bedding out whilst it's boiling, have a Brew, then put the bedding away and perhaps do the first of an estimated 5 '27 thing flings'. Seriously my master bedroom looks like what the inside of Mary Poppins' bag must look like! Bit's of everything in it.

Right, kettle....
