Fledglings flying though July into the summer.

Roll up, roll up. tis the month of school fetes, sports days and annual reports. In all this flurry of extra activities and with the summer holidays hurtling towards us at rapid speed, now is the time to tame the chaos before our very special chaos creators are able to help us. Fully intending to beat the Can't Have Anyone Over Syndrome so that my personal chaos creator can be occupied by others this holiday. Good luck to all to are also striving to achieve this.

Starting from the 1st of the month we shall be fluttering our way to tamed houses. If you are new to the system it is recommend that you focus on making the babysteps your main focus. The babysteps will build up to form routines to help you to stay on top of the house once you have discovered it. First step is to shine your sink. But not just half heartidly, deep clean til it shines Instructions here

For the more established flyer we then progress onto decluttering. 15mins each day in alloted zone of the week. New zones each week. and current zones and decluttering instructions can be found here Zones will automatically update for July.

As for the advanced flyer, there are missions to do each day in the current zone

We have one rule we are NOT perfectionists anything is better then nothing, real life gets in the way and we have to do other stuff other then cleaning (put it on your list, tick it off and :) ), besides the fat fairy's moto is "You are never behind"

As such take the vomit inducing cuteness of the website with a pinch of salt, and join us for wish lists formally to do lists , ta da lists and home bleurghs. Wink

See you bright and early tomo although hopefully not too bright and early.

Welcome to the thread, Pamela. I second Bartlett's advice to scrap the Flylady emails. I subscribed, but after several days receiving dozens of emails a day, I unsubscribed. Trying to keep the house tidy whilst looking after a baby is such hard work - I sympathise. Flylady does have a help page about it. I'll look up the link for you in a minute.

Bartlett - I'm shocked that Flylady said that about cholesterol medication! My mum is on it and I certainly wouldn't want her to ditch it - particularly on the advice of someone who is not a doctor! It sounds as if Flylady's success has gone to her head a little.

Ihate - I am so, so impressed by your control journal. I'm am going to seriously see if I can emulate some of that. It's inspiring.

OFM - have a good trip today.

Ellie - good luck at "doing stuff"!

Swan - sympathies re family tensions etc. Had to laugh at your DH complaining about you cleaning though - you really can't win, can you? My DH upset me terribly yesterday by complaining that I wasn't being as focused on motherhood as I used to be, that I spent all day on MN Confused, that we didn't have enough structure for the children and also why had clothes been on the chair for several days without being put away. Turned out they were HIS clothes Angry. Very heated exchange followed, where I had to point out that maybe home educating DS1 all day and not having DH help me at weekends (he has been busy helping his mum move) has taken his toll and maybe, just maybe I'm feeling a bit weary. Grrr. He apologised later, but seemed genuinely confused as to why I'd taken it so to heart.

Right now, DS is doing Maths Whizz. I have finished toast and tea and need to crisis clean before dyslexia tutor gets here for DS's English lesson. Closely followed by Education Outreach Worker. Then Tesco delivery arrives, then we go up to school to collect DS2 and a friend of DS1s who is coming back for the afternoon and to stay to dinner, then it's dinner (spaghetti), followed by pick up for friend, bedtime routines and usual evening preparation for the next day.

No structure, eh? Confused

Waves to all I've missed out above - gotta go now!

Toffeefudgecake · 11/07/2011 10:04

Here's that link - Flying with baby.

pushmepullyou · 11/07/2011 10:26

Morning everybody Smile

Back from a lovely week away with lots of work and flying to catch up on! Back to earth with a bump quite ltierally this morning as I went to admire the garden and slipped down about 10 m of banking landing on my bum from a significant height Blush and Shock

Will have a read through the thread in a bit but lots to do so in the meantime here's my list.

Washing on done
Washing out
tidy stray crockery
Unstack diswasher done
restack dishwasher
get sausages out of freezer done
mop kitchen floor
unpack from holiday
put away clean washing
paid work
meal plan for week
online shop

reastie · 11/07/2011 10:33

hello all - I go away for a couple of days and look how much there is to catch up on Shock Wink

toffee just read the flying with baby link thanks (do'nt think it was meant for me but found it useful nonetheless). Still suffering with craps btw :(

Well down stairs isn't looking too bad at the minute clutter wise but still lots of sort out and of course clean. Main task for this week I think will be to get the bedroom sorted - it's the worst room of the house now we;ve done the dining room as we just shove everything in it and close the door when anyone comes! such a shame as it's actually a really nice room under all the clothes!

I was very impressed with myself as I have menu planned for this week - golly it makes such a difference - I used to hate mid afternoon when I'd start thinking what would I cook for dinner and look blankly at the fridge/cupboards.

Has anyone bought the flylady book? I was looking at it on amazon thinking of getting it as I find things so much easier to read in a book than on a website [old fashioned] . Just wondered if it's worth it?

off to catch up properly now so apologies for talking to you as opposed to with you...

ColdHeartedBellatrix · 11/07/2011 10:41

Right not as productive as could be but working on it slowly.

Today's Ta da List:
Sort through file, declutter, repopulate as required, transfer to larger file with better indexing
strip bedding and try to convince ds that 3:3am is not a good time to get up for the day.
repeatidly tell ds to go back to bed.
give up and get ds up for day at 5:30am when flying about to get to training
Eat pre training breakfast and Brew
2hrs training

put away few bits of clothes
speak to ex

Please? I promise to be good Smile

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 11/07/2011 13:38

Afternoon,

Welcome to Tulipsia and Pameladej, look out for the daily links to the Flylady website on here, I agree the emails are overwhelming and offputting.

Well, just back from school gardening club. I really feel like just putting my feet up in the garden and reading but must do some more washing and run the vacuum round first. And unpack my Ocado shopping.

LadyInPink · 11/07/2011 14:39

Hey ladies Smile

Murder mystery was fantastic. Guests made a huge effort with 60s booze and outfits etc and the evening was so much fun. Only thing is our decorator has let us down this week so we have to live with the bloody stains on the walls and fluorescent daubs everywhere. As it was so successful I may be asking you Blue for on of your other ones you have hidden away Wink

As we don't have a dishwasher the clearing up took all day Sunday to do and i still have the hoovering and floor washing to do. Have washed bedding and flipped mattresses but that's about it today.

DD only at school til lunchtime Wed so need to make sure house is reasonable before she breaks up as i can't keep up with FLYing if she's under my feet but will do my best.

Hope you're all okay and hi to the newbies Smile

LadyInPink · 11/07/2011 14:40

Blue I meant 'One of your other ones' - gah!

Toffeefudgecake · 11/07/2011 16:18

Tulipsia - you are very welcome here. No need to be good. We have a Naughty Corner for all those who haven't kept up with their routines. You'll usually find several of us there, particularly CHB, who is good at keeping the bar stocked up Wink.

Am intrigued by the book now. Is it worth getting, Tulip? (Someone else was asking about this today).

Reastie - Grin at your typo. Sorry to hear you are still suffering though. That can't be right. You should go back to your doc again, I'm afraid.

Pamela - don't worry - we all have our off days. Flylady says: You're never behind - just jump back in. Or something like that. I think Ihate is Queen of Lists. I thought I was a list queen until I saw hers, but I now bow to her supremacy

WhoKnows - Envy of your Ocado shop. Tesco just isn't the same.

BlueEyes - great 'ta da' list - fantastic that you managed to get rid of your old PC. Good luck with utility room - and I look forward to seeing it on your list again tomorrow Wink.

Bartlett - that's a great list - especially considering you have a baby to look after too.

Lady -glad to hear the party went so well. I'd like to know what unexpected visitors/delivery men make of your bloodstained walls!

Updated list:
meeting with EOW - went on for ages done
room rescue - our bedroom
hoover
Tesco delivery - put away shopping done
clear kitchen hotspot
lunch done
school run done
home with DS2 and friend of DS1 done
dinner - Menu4Mums recipe
bedtime routine
before-bed routine
check monthly expenses to draw up new budget with DH
bed at decent hour

Tried to read a story and have 'quality time' with DS2, but all he wants to do is watch 'Scooby Doo'. So, after a quick cuppa, I will get on with my list.

Toffeefudgecake · 11/07/2011 16:19

When do those wizard smileys start working? Anyone know?

NickNacks · 11/07/2011 17:26

[hsmile] now?

NickNacks · 11/07/2011 17:27

I don't know but i have seen them on other threads. :(

ColdHeartedBellatrix · 11/07/2011 17:37

I think they have been turned off.

I am declaring the naughty ccorner bar open!!!! help yourselves Biscuits and Brews for those who wish. Pull up a comfey chair or cushion...

Whilst i have had a productive day with more stuff to add to my ta da list (although cba) I need a shot of brandy to knock ds out (sleep meds will have to do) and hope he doesnt get up at 3:30am again tomo. I haven't slept and nothing will keep me away from my bed tonight. I got up 7am yesterday morning and sleep is very very much needed now. And i suspect sense is dwindling. So i shall post linkys whilst there is a chance of sense. shove food and meds into child and try not to kill him or cry before he passes out.

Linkys**

babystep can be ignored if you didnt sign up to the fly lady emails and if you did unsubscribe whilst you are at it

Zone - bathroom and one other room, mission will update tomo

tuesday is planning day

tulip pamela Hi

blueeyeshadow hope you managed park or distraction LOL

LIP glad murder mystery went well

coldhearted thanks for lists

OverflowingMum · 11/07/2011 20:57

oh gosh...have just seen that the "other room" is the laundry room. No way I can face tackling the Futility this week LOL Will just settle for the 3 bathrooms LOL However despite good intentions am now already a day behind as havent done more than S&S today!

School trip was fab but tiring. Went round with dd and 2 of her friends who were all very giddy and kept disapearing off at high speed and almost getting lost Shock All had a great day though, and it was nice to get back in earler than a usual working day too!
Managed only the basics today other than organising for school trip. Fells as if all I will manage for next couple of weeks is keeping track of all extra events! Have so far managed: 1 sports day and 2 school trips, still to go: 1 school trip, 2 sports days, a leavers assembley, leavers mass, 2 birthday parties, drama performance and leavers party.....will be glad if I make it to the end of term!

may try and manage the mission before bed...and need to reload WM, and sort clothes for work tomorrow.

also now need to talk VVV nicely to my boss and see if she will let me take a couple of hours leave next Thursday to go to dd leavers assembly (date of which I only got today....damn school is RUBBISH at communication!)But of course knowing my luck there will be some disaster occurring at that v moment that means I'll miss it Sad bit fed up at lack of medical personel and lack of leave right when I need it...grrrr oh well!

right...need to go sleep.....

mc hope you had a good trip. I waved randomly at any people getting off/onto coaches in case they were you (not really LOL)

OverflowingMum · 11/07/2011 20:57

oh...did also manage a 7mile run this evening though which I really enjoyed tonight...so I have doen more than I remembered LOL

Makingchanges · 11/07/2011 21:03

Evening all, being laying on the settee since I came home from Sundown with a Migraine. Just having a tidy up and then need to go tobed for an early night.

No flying donw today as on school trip all day - Managed to get to shop for a box and some packaging for my parcels that I need to send tomorrow but that is all I have done.

OFM here is a strange question for you but did you have a chupa chumps backpack today at sundown. I saw a woman that I vaguely thought looked a little familiar and wondered if it was you (I've seen some photos a while ago on your blog and website)- It probably wasn't but I wondered about that all day.

Right busy day tomorrow so going to spend an hour with DH as he has face on (After spending all weekend out, I shouldn't be wasting out time together on the internet Hmm ) Will be back bright and breezy (hopefully) tomorrow

Stillchuckingit · 11/07/2011 21:30

Evening all

A warm welcome to the thread to Tulip and Pamela. I did buy the Flylady book in a fit of madness enthusiasm but don't think it added much to the information on the site (now the site has expanded a bit). And the pages started falling out a couple of months after purchase because I am such a dedicated Flyer don't you know the glue they used on the spine was very cheap.

PA your poor dd...xxx

Arf at Reastie's typo (hope you're feeling better though!) and Pink living with the outline of a murdered corpse in her sitting room ...

Swan hope child visitor was collected promptly tonight

Toffee you are on a roll today!! Hope your dh is chipping in too ...

Whoknows Smile at your dd's dancing! Sounds lovely!! And hope car repair not too expensive.

Pushmepullyou ouch!!

Nicknacks glad clear out wasn't too bad in the end [ponders on what use you can give a wedding dress hoop : climbing support for runner beans? giant frizzbee?]

Hurrah at Neverputasockinatoaster's* oh!!

Waves glass of Wine at CHB in naughty corner

Sorry - no more personals as it's been a long day - dh away doing all the travelling he had to cancel when I was ill and I've only just got dd in to bed.

She's happy/sad tonight because I persuaded her it was time to release our butterflies ...happily, one landed on her before it took off over the garden wall

Huge waves to everyone I've missed though...

Ta da:
morning routine inc. dw emptied, wm emptied and hung in sun, s&s
home bleurrggh (can only get downstairs done in an hour)
more cooking with dd (jam tarts)
wrapped up all outstanding on-line parcel orders
wrote two letters
trip to post office and bank
bicycle with dd
30 mins gardening
cooked lovely supper (even if I do say it myself) of baby pots, glazed turnips and carrots and rib eye of steak which we didn't eat yesterday
cleaned out guinea pigs
tided up dd's bedroom
recycling

To do:
small panier ironing
French study
perhaps a bit of a walk/exercise bike

Haven't shredded a box of papers today. Must do so tomorrow.

Btw Whoknows/anyone else? I've two or three embryo pumpkins "set" on my two plants. Do I pinch out the rest of the flowers now?
