Morning everyone,

I didn't know if pmpy would get on today and I didn't want the thread to run out of space for our chat housework musings so thought I would create another one.

Hope you don't mind pmpy!

Afternoon all

You have been busy for a saturday, especially swan and SC

We woke up to snow here and no grit despite warning so have a tricky drive across town to gym. (has mostly melted or been washed away now)

Had my gym session and DDs dance class, been to shopforweekly shopping (Bought e-cloths Grin ). Have also done one load of washing and helped DD with homework. Not toobad but not too much asbeen up most of night with DD.

Am just about to pack DDs party outfit and overnight back as she is off to a family outing and staying at GPs whilst myself and DH go to watch John Bishop.

Hope you all have a relaxing saturday night

missjulie · 19/02/2011 15:53

Hi all!

So, FINALLY got to sleep at 7.30am!!!!! Angry
Then, got rudely woken by the landlord hammering on the door Angry, who came to finally fit the new shower Smile & sort 1 of the electric problems Smile, but left lots of mess in doing this Angry.
Had no water due to shower being sorted Angry, so not able to do dishes or shower etc...Angry, then b**y parents arrived unnannounced Angry Angry Angry and have only just left!!!!! GRRRRRRRR!!!!!
Want to start today over!!!!!!
...................and i'm still in my pjs!!!!! :(

elliepac · 19/02/2011 16:45

Evening all!

missjulie that sounds like a really tough day in anybody's book let alone when you have had little or no sleep. Am Angry on your behalf. I have a 2 hour rule with my mother. I will not stop her coming round but I must have at least 2 hours notice! Stops those nightmare impromptu visits which she was inclined to make invariably when the DC's looked like street urchins, the house looked like a hovel and DH and I had been arguing Grin. Wish MIL would stick to the same rule. I do love her dearly and am very lucky compared to some of the stories you hear on here but she only lives 5 mins down the road and pops by all the time!

Have managed to accomplish everything on my list although DD is doing a damn fine job of undoing the tidying and making mount washmore grow some more as she has had 2 accidents. After having had no toilet training problems at all, the last few days she has suddenly been having at least one accident a day because she has been too busy playing Hmm.

Still to do:-

Cook dinner (homemade burgers and chips mmmmm)
Repair tidying damage
More washing in
More drying in
More putting away
Clear away from dinner
Bath
TV
WINE

Back later

Thanks Ellie, am still trying to calm down!!!
I should have a rule like that, but there is just no way she would still to it!! Grrrr!!!!
What a nightmare, her being 5 mins down the road!!!!! I'd be moving!!! lol!
Sounds like you are having a productive day! Sorry to hear about DD's 'accidents', thus adding to washing pile!
Enjoy the burger and chips, yum yum!!
Maybe see you later!

Hope everyone is having a good day.
Sorry about my rant! Needed to vent!

xx

elliepac · 19/02/2011 17:04

No need to apologise Grin. Hope the vent served it's purpose and you are feeling a little better Smile.

A little, be a while before i calm down. Am feeling very teary!! (tired)

OgreTripletsAreSoCute · 19/02/2011 17:22
missjulie · 19/02/2011 17:26

Awwww, thank you! [teary grin]

ColdHeartedBitch · 19/02/2011 17:44

MissJ we have all ranted on occasions. And tbf that is a good reason to be ranting.

I havent done much today but have done something i have been trying to do for at least a month if not two. I have finally bought some new bras. And ds was a saint in the shop whilst i tried them on. Helped by the prior purchase of some new books for him to read i expect. Grin

swan ds isnt supposed to move the cup from next to the kettle as i don't like him carrying hot liquids. But being 6 and a stubborn sod I knew nothing about it until he was giving me the cup. He has been trained to safely use the kettle for over a year now. Essential due to his lack of fear and impulsive behaviour. Better for him to know how to do it safely then to just do it. Plus he can rarely be bothered to make a hot drink since the novalty wore off. I have been requested to make all the hot drinks since today.

swanriver · 19/02/2011 18:30

missJ it's when they are not actually helpful but just demand attention that it is not welcome...My mum used to turn up and ask why the beds weren't made - and I used to say (in tears) if you helped me make them instead of criticising, they would be made by now [oh dear that was a while agoBlush
resolves never to argue with Parents again, or to criticise my own children [very unlikely]

Another good day.
Have cleaned ensuite bathroom
tidied master bedroom again! No slacking!
tidied and decluttered playroom again, and pointed out to dh rather too aggressively that the dcs have not touched a single toy today, but preferred to play with a balloon and read the Argos catalogue..
cooked some innovative meatballs in broth Hmm
listened a lot to classical music
now about to have supper when the football is over

swanriver · 19/02/2011 18:31

CHB dd can make cups of tea for me, just can't carry them up 3 flights I fear

Makingchanges · 19/02/2011 18:34

MissJ feel free to vent. My MIL lives 5 minutes away and used to come around and clean - she also once put all my clothes in the spare room wardrobe before I married DH (Think she was trying to tell me something) - She now doesn't come round as she says she can't stand the mess. I have a child, its just lived in.

Well DD is deposited at GPs and another washer load in. Also bought some new bath toys with DD and let her chose which ones to throw away(they are full of gunk and this was the only way she was parting with them)

Have emptied and cleaned fridge out and now just about to wash up from tea and off out.

Back tomorrow

Makingchanges · 19/02/2011 18:37

Swan I am Envy of your list. I had lots more I wanted to get done today but snow stopped us this morning and then the lure of a house without DD this evening meant we hav snuggled on settee and watched tv for an hour. I think since we are both feeling a little neglected from lack of seeing each other, this was probably more necessary

swanriver · 19/02/2011 18:38

On the other hand dh did have two tantrums today, so perhaps he is having a less good day Blush He has gone into his study in a huff a) children muddled up the Sat papers (reading sports section)
b)because dd didn't want to watch the film he wanted Shock

ColdHeartedBitch · 19/02/2011 18:38

Swan - it is the stairs that I have issues with too. Cups of coffee are supposed to be left next to the kettle from where I collect them. but to be fair i was doing the same thing at the same age so can't really get too cross. Plus it wasnt a very full cup (about 3/4 full) which i think helped.

swanriver · 19/02/2011 18:40

MC that sounds much better than me - poor dd is snuggled by herself, whilst I watch the supper cook.

Aghast at MIL! poor you, but I'm sure she is very welcoming as long as you are in her house, so that's something.

swanriver · 19/02/2011 18:41

oh misread, that MC you were snuggled with dh how lovely Smile

pushmepullyou · 19/02/2011 21:13

Evening ladies Smile

Goodness me that's a lot of flying for a Saturday, especially ellie and swan

Not much done here apart from routines, but we have had a nice but tiring day here Smile, with a few too many toddler tantrums thrown in . Went to a Japanese restaurant in Leeds for lunch with DD for probably the last time as just the three of us Shock.

Then screamed our way around Sainsbury's because a) I wouldn't buy her the horrible purple jeans, b) ditto the yellow plastic sandals, c) ditto two copies of the hungry caterpillar colouring book. And there are going to be 2 of them .

Back shortly with babysteps and roundup.

pushmepullyou · 19/02/2011 21:34

OK , so tomorrows babystep is to include laundry in your routines

missjulie · 19/02/2011 21:37

Aw!!! Thanks push! Got soo much to do tomorrow, if i can find the energy! Dad is 60 on Monday, and i have to make a cake, and tidy up the whole house suitable for parents to land on Monday!!! :(
Shall try to find some me time though! - probs on MN! lol

Dartsonwednesdays · 19/02/2011 21:58

Hello ladies, I'm sorry I've not been around for a while. It's been a combination of bringing work home, fighting dp for the pc, and feeling sooooo tired all the time that I'm thinking of visiting the doc. Today's been a better day. I have been reading MN a little, but I didn't feel like posting as I knew it would be gobbledygook!

It's ds's birthday today (he's 7), and despite a hectic party (and it was only pottery painting) I feel better than in ages.

I'm sort of managing to keep up with the housework and routines, and dp is lovely in that respect, so has been a great help.

This coming week is half term for us, so wI'll be using that to ease myself back into the swing of things.

I was going to name change a little (thanks for your ideas previously, swan) But I missed the moment for Valentine's Day. I'm sure I'll (finally) think of something witty about Darts!

I hope you ladies are fine, and I'll be logging off soon for the day, getting a few more earlier nights in is helping a bit.

pushmepullyou · 19/02/2011 22:23

missJulie has had an upsetting day with not enough sleep or hot water and too many landlords and parents Sad. I hope you manage to get an early night tonight and feel better tomorrow. How old is your DD? It is so exhausting looking after a young child on your own, particularly when you a feeling a bit down and exhausted already. I really feel for you. Can you do something nice for yourself tomorrow even if it is only a box of posh chocs or some flowers or a hot bubble bath with a book or similar?

ellie has had a very productive day flyingwise, but has not particularly been helped by her DD who has been adding to the washing pile. If you live near Wendy you can't be a million miles from me either, although we indisputably had snow this morning so presumably we're not in exactly the same direction.

SC has been ensconsed in her master bedroom, although not it would appear in a romantic way Grin

ogre has been making bread tidying

Cockadoodle and itshappenedagain both joined us. Hello and welcome to you both Smile

CHB had a good night's sleep Grin - and was brought coffee and toast in bed by her DS. What a star Smile

swan has been very busy making a Narnia costume for her DD. She has a very busy half term planned with 3 World Book Day costumes to make and 2 time machine projects to do Shock. She has very sensibly booked her DC on to a multi sports course for the duration Grin. I remember doing something similar myself when I was at school and loving it Smile

120 has managed to find us Smile (not that we were hiding... Wink

makingchanges has bought her ecloths, packed her DD off for the evening and is snuggling up with her DH on the sofa Smile. Bit Envy as mine is sitting at the other end of the living room picking playdough off his slippers and grumping about it!

It's lovely to see darts back again. I was thinking the other day that you hadn't been on for a while. her DS is 7 today. Happy birthday Smile

swanriver · 19/02/2011 22:40

Push your two year old sounds rather like my 8 year old Blush Remember, their taste gets worse and worse, then it bombs (absolute horror dress sense), and you surprisingly find they have their own STYLE (aged about five)! I love Japanese food, especially seaweed. I'm sure she will remember the outing not the yellow sandals
(though I would like some of those Envy

SC I hope you didn't move any heavy furniture/boxes in dh's absence (did he go after all?)

swanriver · 19/02/2011 22:41

P.S. am giving up on Narnia costume rapidly.

missjulie · 19/02/2011 23:41

push, she's ten months (7 wks prem). Shall try tmrw!! Thanks! She is wide awake again!!! Hope i get to sleep b4 7.30am!!!!! xxx
