Morning everyone,

I didn't know if pmpy would get on today and I didn't want the thread to run out of space for our chat housework musings so thought I would create another one.

Hope you don't mind pmpy!

x-post with swan, sorry swan Smile. Well done on your good day. I am hoping to have one tomorrow!

Toffeefudgecake · 18/02/2011 22:35

Had to laugh at your post about the 'romantic time' with husbands, Swan. I have been having a most un-romantic time actually. The background is that over the past few weeks, I have been decluttering our bedroom 15 minutes a day whenever I can. It has made a real difference, though there is lots more to do. Everytime I come across a bill or statement, I have been putting it in a large shoebox, so that all the paperwork will finally be together and ready to file. Tonight I went to get said shoebox to fetch a bill I needed - and it was gone. DH had decided to have a tidy up the other day and he has tidied away the shoebox, but has no idea where Angry Angry Angry. And he had the nerve to say that one of us had to do some tidying because the room was such a mess Angry Angry Angry.

He thinks it might be in the loft and I even crawled back in to have a look (not to make a point, or anything Hmm), but there are boxes everywhere and I don't know where to start.

Looking forward to going to my mum's tomorrow. I definitely need a break!

Happy Flying to you all.

Toffeefudgecake · 18/02/2011 22:38

X-posted with several of you! Thanks for the round up, PMPY.

swanriver · 18/02/2011 22:46

Well dh has discovered that his Jane Austen paperbacks are gone to the great pothole in the skyShock I put all the Eng Lit-ish books in the loft (at the front I may add) As he was arranging all the books (we have 10000s of books) on the landing he asked me accusingly where his books had gone. Apparently they were the very first books he bought (£2 he said with a sob) when he came to London as penniless artisan Hmm and he likes to read them all the time Shock There is always something in the wrong place alas.

Have a lovely break Toffee!

OgreTripletsAreSoCute · 18/02/2011 23:11

Evening all,

No romantic time here either, just a flaked out on the sofa sort of time really. DH has had a very busy day at work, I have been out and about with the DCs most of the day, the house has gradually deteriorated all week, oh dear. Start again next week methinks. Night all.

ColdHeartedBitch · 19/02/2011 00:23

training was nice. but shattered which makes a change so having bought milk and soda crystals on the way home I have done the shopping I needed to do later.

Hope you are all sleeping. Have good days tomo.

missjulie · 19/02/2011 01:42

Hey ladies.
Sorry not been about much today.
Had another crap day and looks as though tonight is heading in the same direction - DD STILL up!!!!! :(
Haven't had time to read the thread. Hope everyone has had a good day though, and has fun stuff planned for the wkend.

Since last posted done list:
DD & I fed, watered, all ready for bed, whenever that may be!!!
Dishes done, sink re-shiney, yet again!
Clothes looked out for tomorrow, and all DD meals prepared. More emails etc replied to.
That's about it! :(

xxx

elliepac · 19/02/2011 07:42

Morning all,

It is a truly horrible day here today. Cold and thorwing it down with rain Sad. Didn't get on much yesterday as I was too busy enjoying a solid 8 hours child free time. Tidied the whole house with DH and then sat down and finally watched Avatar.

Not sure what we are going to do today. Have still got to keep cracking with Mount Washmore although I think I am getting there. So list looks like this:-

Washing
drying
Putting away
Maintenance tidy
Pay CM
Town to put cheques in bank
Think of something to do with DC's this afternoon.

missjulie hope you managed to get some sleep in the end. It must be so tough when DH is away.

ofm no internet...how on earth did you cope Grin

sc and sr I too sympathise with the master bedroom thing. It is the one room of the house that no-one else sees and therefore the one room that always gets neglected. If fact yesterday when i said i tidied the whole house. I did, apart from the master bedroom Grin.

Better go, DD is shouting 'breakfast' in my ear!

Morning ladies,

It's a cold but lovely and sunny/bright day here (sorry Ellie) I've just finished the morning routine and the master bedroom awaits ....
so .. time for a bit of procrastination Mnsetting ...

Swan and Ellie thanks for the sympathies ... believe it or not I spent 3 hrs decluttering the master bed early in the week and it's now bedlam (no pun intended) again ...

The main probs are: (1)no bookcase and tons of books (2) everyone uses it as dressing room (including dd whose chest of drawers and wardrobe are in it as well as ours) because it's adjacent to our only bathroom, (3) we have too many clothes and not enough storage (4) 8 boxes of sewing materials also present because sewing room (to be) not renovated and (5) dh throws his worn clothes anywhere but in laundry panier (6) I'm a messy mare... Grin

Good luck with Mount Washmore!!

Pushme no probs! Good of you to round-up when you are tired. Hope you manage to get some rest over the w/e and call on Ellie and me if you need help!

Yay! Good to see you Nettie!

Hope you get some better quality sleep this w/e CHB and MissJ

Swan don't know about genius but dd is obsessed with string atm. I go to open cupboard doors and the handles are bound together ..go to pull out a chair at dining table and she's tied the chair legs together ...most of her soft toys and dolls have a string harness by which they are pulled along the floor or lowered from great heights ...and then there was the famous incident involving the teaspoons in the cutlery drawer 10 mins before a supper party ...is this normal I wonder Confused?

like the sound of your dh Swan Smile
lol at "valence of despair" and "pothole in sky"! Books (mine) and their storage are a huge bone of contention in this household ... have a great half term

Hope you find your vital shoebox Toffee

Have a good shopping trip Linzer

Any luck with the photos OFM?

Hope you are recovering Ihate

Waves to MakingChanges (am impressed by your exercise schedule) and to Ogre and everyone else

Right ...dong....time has come ...dong ... to face the gallows master bedroom ...

Have a great weekend lovely ladies!!

wendyhappysmile · 19/02/2011 09:35

Ihatecobwebs hope you are all feeling better today

Toffee that is so annoying about the shoebox and even more so DH's comments about untidy bedroom - we all need that gold star don't we?! I find it quite pathetic how I need to be praised ... why can't the happiness come from within when I've done a good thing!

Hi to all

It's really thickly snowing here Sad when we have no activities on and had a planned a day away for the first time since Baby DS born Sad. I am feeling very fed up! DS and DD both extremely grumpy and shouty and naughty. They have been Calpolled! DD has a cough so we figured they are not feeling well - DS is usually fairly OK behaviour wise!

So, what to do on Family Fun day when it's freezing, snowy and I don't like snow?!

OgreTripletsAreSoCute · 19/02/2011 09:39

Morning all,

Foul weather here too this morning. Chuckingv it down. Have just despatched DH and the DCs to swimming lessons and shopping after, so on my own till about 1.30 hopefully. I have lots of errands and lots of FLying to do.

My bedroom is a tip too, clothes on the floor, clutter on the surfaces, dust everywhere. I am fairly ruthless about books for grownups, but the DCs seem to have millions and they get everywhere and they won't let me get rid of them, sighs. Need a trip to Ikea I think, but it's half term and it would be hellish I think.

Who was it talking about Ctrl F, was it you Toffee? It's a very good tip. Alas, we switched to a Mac recently and none of the Ctrl shortcuts work, it drives me nuts I hadn't realised how often I use Ctrl C and Ctrl V for cutting and pasting until I couldn't anymore. Any other Mac users out there?

Better go and get on with my list.

elliepac · 19/02/2011 10:24

Noooooooo, it's trying to snow here too. We are not too far from you Wendy (had a peek at your profile) and it is sleet at the moment but it keeps trying. Have had more than enough this year!

Done:-
washing on
Dryer on
Maintenance tidy
Paid cm

About to go and put clothes away and do the washing up!

Back later

COCKadoodledooo · 19/02/2011 10:36

Oh hello, I think I'll join you if I may?

Was hoping to get rid of the boys (ds's 7 and 15 months and dh 37) for a few days this week so I can have a proper spring clean, have been looking forward to it actually, but they're not buggering well going anywhere.

I shall have to do it around them, which won't be anywhere near as easy satisfying Angry

Given we only have 6 rooms in the house (including hall/stairs/landing) I should be able to achieve Great Things this week. Doubt I will though Hmm

ColdHeartedBitch · 19/02/2011 10:46

Morning. I actually had a really good nights sleep. Ds has spoilt me rotten with breakfast in bed (toast and coffee) taking a lazy start to the day but have already played lots of games of monopoly deal. just about to get up and run the very exciting 60C wash. hoping that will clean the washing machine out. If not i need some ideas on how to make the machine fit for clothes again.

No idea what the weather is like here but do know that ds was disappointed that it wasnt snowing.

OgreTripletsAreSoCute · 19/02/2011 11:17

Morning COCKadoodledooo , , welcome on board. This is a good place to come for a gentle nudge in the right direction housework wise. Have you tried Flying before, do you know the principles?

Have restored the kitchen to a reasonable state, made bread, just about to declutter lounge ready for hoovering, needed a quick break.

swanriver · 19/02/2011 11:26

I have been researching Narnia patterns on the web as dd wants to go as authentic Lucy for World Book Day. I wouldn't have bothered except she kept saying - Why Can't You Just Buy A Narnia Dress? At which my hackles rose, and I thought, anyone can make a Narnia dress can't they Blush maybe not...Hmm

Boys have gone to football, dh has gone with dd to buy a new landline phone. Lazy day ahead...very relaxing as there is no catechism and no violin and no choir today! Only football.

Children have already been fighting this morning, so I am delighted to say that....

I have booked all three children onto a MULTI-SPORTS COURSE for half term (round the corner) from 9.30 till 4.30 (give or take a few afternoons off if they feel like it) Am feeling slightly guilty, but not that much..Boys will have Wednesday off, and dd will have Monday off. Grin
Also have to do 2 Time Machine Projects with the twins, think of three World Book Day costumes, sort out front garden, do loads of sewing, prepare 3 x birthday parties and visit poor SIL and baby.

swanriver · 19/02/2011 11:32

Those things for Next week.

Wendy Dressing Up, singing, dancing is quite a good game for a snowy day. It is only rainy here. Dd has already ripped up ds1's 3D glasses; she is not in a good mood.
CHB I think I need to train my children to bring me coffee in a thermos am.

LIST
sew curtains
cook lunch
ring B to see if recvd message about visiting today
tackle dressing up pile
piano practice whilst children out

Had a glass of very old cheap white wine last night (not good old, bad old) and I am still suffering from acid feeling yuk...

OgreTripletsAreSoCute · 19/02/2011 11:33

With that lot in mind Swan - the sports course sounds like a very good idea indeed.

swanriver · 19/02/2011 11:42

I am never normally so ruthless in my pursuit of free time Grin but I am beginning to realise that all they want to do is a) see other children
b) run around
and Sports Course fulfils these criteria at 20 % discount...
(also they asked to go on it Grin
Usually we spend halfterms at swimming pool or in Ireland, which ends up even more expensive.

swanriver · 19/02/2011 11:59

SC the turning point for our bedroom (which I have now tackled about 4 times but it still never quite made it to hotel status)was when a)
ordered cheapy narrow low flat against wall bookcase for all the books from SHELFSTORE (do they go to Belgium I wonder)
(quite against dh's wishes, as he thought it was very ugly but it does the trick)
forced dh to put all his shirts and suits in wardrobe in ds1 room, as ds didn't need much hanging space.
threw away a lot of sewing stuff Blush or hid it under the bed after much humming and hawing.

Stillchuckingit · 19/02/2011 12:40

lunch break

[SC emerges from under a pile of dusty clutter and whimpers ...]

Thank you Swan for much needed advice - we definitely, definitely need a bookcase ...will investigate cheapo shelving here ...trouble is, all our wall space is taken up with dd's furniture atm. Once second floor renovated and bathroom installed up there, it will move. So for the moment it is a pending situation...

.. same with sewing stuff (sewing room will also be on second floor) don't want to put it in roof or basement because I use it all the time

I've nobly volunteered that my wardrobe should go across to storage room (as I know that dh would not bother to walk 12 paces across landing to hang stuff back in there) and that bit works OK but need to declutter it because have clothes for my three different body shapes: mildly fat, middling fat and fat fat Grin

Just going to try and aim for a clear, hoovered, mopped floor, and clear, dusted, hoovered surfaces ....clean and organised drawers and storage, and see where I go from there ... [wimpers again]

Don't feel guilty about the multi-sports course Swan - the boys will love it - and as you say - once they are booked in, they can always have the odd afternoon off. Takes the pressure off all around.

Great you had a good night's sleep CHB

A very warm welcome to thread Cockadoodle
Let us know if you have any questions!

swanriver · 19/02/2011 12:48

yes "SC", it is the "pending" "limbo" malarkey which drives one to despair.
Cupboards in guest room perhaps?
I've moved the clothes round in the house so many times from room to room in search of perfect storage arrangments that I'm not one to talk really.

All I know is that my mum aged 70 still talks longingly about a dressingroom for my father's clothes. Which drive her mad. But that she can't put them in the guest room...

[Swan surveys the boxes of tiles in the hall sternly - can I possibly sneak them into cupboard under stairs and not have to think about them for a while?)

How exciting though about the SECOND FLOOR!

Our new stair carpet is so lovely I just want to curl up on it and read books all day..

Stillchuckingit · 19/02/2011 13:02

Swan Actually, guest room might work, although up a floor from where we dress currently, but could work for sewing supplies...thanks again

as for pending malarkey - couldn't agree more about frustration of it - our entire life is pending atm!!

It WILL be great when it is finished .. but it's been 8 or so years now ....

[yearns for stair carpet]
