Morning everyone,

I didn't know if pmpy would get on today and I didn't want the thread to run out of space for our chat housework musings so thought I would create another one.

Hope you don't mind pmpy!

Still its useful IFSWIM when DS plays up at the weekend, as there is time for me to stick to my guns, less easy when time is an issue (and he knows it).

Balinderry sunshine Envy - the best I can say its that its not raining here. Spoke too soon, its now chucking it down and I'm going to sulk.

ellie Car clean out - I was trying to "forget" that mine needed doing, and now I can't pretend that it shouldn't be on my list Blush

Missjulie have you checked behind/underneath your cupboards, sofas etc? It always surprises me how they can get into the smallest of places. My two hunt, the boy brings them back dead, the girl tends to bring them home live to me (which I have to accept with a beaming "thank you" Grin and take them from her - exchange for a treat, and take it outside again. We've had birds, mice, voles, shrews and bats - how they catch bats I have no idea!

Swan Envy the discount fabric shop - I have to go miles for fabric, then usually pay full price, unless there's something good in the sale. (Have been known to buy sale fabric "just in case", so have a fabric stash hidden in the bedroom).

swanriver · 27/02/2011 17:00

feeling unbelievably tired today

have not been to church Blush
and one walk to the shops with dcs in tow to buy gold braid has been enough to knock me out

Done
washed some smelly bathmats
vaguely kept on top of laundry but now cba
made a delicious lunch very quickly despite both dh and dd being most tiresome about the main element Hmm a small garnish of tesco's finest chicken bake Blush with lots of lovely extras i MAY add [DH suggested we go out for a pizza [grrr]
have done sewing with dd
dh has continued with projects and drew a canoe for dd, is sailing Titanic singlehandedly away from icebergs Grin but now had a nervous breakdown over angles on parallelograms with ds1

dd is watching Pocohantas, dss and dh a football match so I am going to join her and do some more sewing an dhope I don't fall asleep in bed.

SC we had that funny gas smell, and it was a hairline leak, although not a dangerous one the man said. Hope dh returns safely.
MssJ my best friends were all in different parts of England, as baby grows you will find kindred spirits I Promise. Hope teethng is over soon, poor baby.
Cobweb we are near parts of London where everyone historically sewed their own clothes, so there are still loads of fabric shops, and sewing machine shops too! Unfortunately our local sewing machine shop has turned into newsagent but has a large backlog of haberdashery supplies and wool, and exceedingly dusty looking knitting patterns. No sewing patterns though Sad anywhere near..and John Lewis is a distant memory

LinzerTorte · 27/02/2011 18:04

Now back home - still haven't finished unpacking (you'd think we'd been away two weeks, not two nights), but I have changed the sheets on our and DS's beds so that I don't have to do it tomorrow. DS is still very wheezy and not his normal self; we've decided that one night at my ILs will probably have to be our limit in future (I think we realised that after our last stay, but me selfishly wanting to go to the cinema twice meant we had to stay two nights this time). Have just given him some of his medicine and he's much brighter now, fortunately.

missjulie So sorry to hear you're feeling isolated. I found it very difficult when DD1 was born, as we'd just moved to the USA so were thousands of miles from both families. Although I did meet some lovely friends over there, I hadn't known anyone for longer than three or four months when she was born. It does get much easier once the baby is (and you are) sleeping better and can get out more, but I can understand how lonely you must feel with your DH away.

DH has just called down that he needs help with bathtime, so must go...

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 27/02/2011 18:35

Ogre here, decided I was getting a bit fed up with that name, so time for a new one again.

Been away for a few days to the ILs, so haven't really kept up with the Flying or the chat, I will start again on Tues for the new month. Is anyone taking over? I don't mind doing it if no one else is lined up.

DartsRus · 27/02/2011 20:38

Evening all,

Aside from ds pouring olbas oil down the loo (in Chat), today has been quiet. DP at work, rubgy watched, kids for once behaving nicely, especially after ds accidentally caused dd to trip & hurt her ankle. She's fine now.

So washing done
Shopping done
dinner done
bins empied ready for tomorrow's collection
stuff's ready for back to work/back to school tomorrow
the painted pots from ds's birthday party are collected and bubble-wrapped ready to take to school

And I have a moment on MN before Hawaii 5-0 starts.

MiniMarmite · 27/02/2011 20:45

Thank goodness you are all still here! Can I come back please? I miss you all but haven't had time/energy to post/clean etc recently...but now the Royal Visit has been announced (coincidentally around the same time as The Royal Wedding) - MIL is coming to stay.

Hope you are all well.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 27/02/2011 20:56

Hello MiniM, welcome back (Mrs Dinky here a couple of name changes down the line). We'd love to have you back. It's been very busy on here this month, we have lots of new posters.

OverflowingMum · 27/02/2011 20:58

evening all...
have been very terrible FLY friend over half term Blush
Just about survived the week! Totally negected FLYing though, which combined with 6 DC around to mess the house more than usual resulted in a total tip by today! Hence I have just spent 3 hours blitzing it (in very non FLY style..ooops) and now is vaguely manageable again...
All back to school and work tomorrow...sigh..
However I am resolved to stick to better FLY routines starting tomorrow, so will be back tomorrw eve.
Hope you're all OK and have had good half terms Grin

PositiveAttitude · 27/02/2011 21:32

Evening all.

Welcome back MMM

Well, I have something to report tonight, so I dont feel too embarrassed to post!

DONE TODAY:
Paired 236 socks, thrown out 56 socks with holes in, still have 79 odd socks. Hmm Blush Perhaps I could ebay them - special offer for one-legged person.
Why do we have so many socks????
I have ironed 26 shirts
Shoe cupboard is tidy, sorted and 21 pairs of old shoes thrown out!
Hallway nicely hoovered
Landing nicely hoovered
Back lounge nicely hoovered
Kitchen cleaned and tidy
Dishwasher unloaded and loaded x 2
Washing machine doing overtime - in negotiation, but looks like it could be working itself up to going on an imminent strike.
I have discovered the colour of our bedroom carpet when it is minus so many hairs. (4 females all with long hair and 2 cats = not good for carpets when you have a crap hoover)
As you may have guessed I am obsessively in love with my Miele hoover

To sum up the house is looking pretty good, even though I do say so myself! Grin

Sorry not to have caught up with you all. I will try harder in March!! Smile

pushmepullyou · 27/02/2011 21:32

Evening all Smile

Feeling much better today, although still rather tired. One more week at work to go unless the baby has other ideas (please baby get out now!!)

toffee thank you so much for posting last night - I really couldn't face a glowy screen with a headache. Sorry to hear you're feeling a bit under the weather as well. Hope your neck is recovering today.

CHB sorry to hear you have been suffering with a migraine too. Hope you're feeling better now.

missjulie has had a headache over the last few days but has still managed to shine her sink every day Grin. She is feeling a bit better today.

Linzer is staying with her inlaws for her FILs birthday. Her laptop is playing up and she is very tired.

Ellie managed a quiet morning and is having stew and dumplings for tea. Yum Smile. La la la ellie - I can't hear you!! Grin I am sure a tiny little baby can't really be any more work

Balinderry is still around and shining her sink. I like ibuprofen too, but not allowed it in the 3rd trimester Sad.

SC has no heating due to a worrying smell of gas. Brrr.

ihate has had a lie in and pancakes for breakfast

swan is very tired today and has cooked her somewhat ungrateful brood a lovely lunch.

whoknows (formerly known as ogre) is giving CHB a run for her money with name changes Grin. She has very kindly volunteered to run the March thread. Thank you whoknows, I was wondering what we should do about it. I've really enjoyed this month, although I haven't particularly sparkled with quite a few missed posts Blush. More than happy to do another month in future, but with the best will in the world I don't think next month is the month Grin

darts has had a quiet day apart from an ankle injury (DD) and an olbas oil down the loo moment (DS).

MiniMarmite is back - yay Grin. Very nice to 'see' you! I think your DS is about 3 months old now, so I guess you are just emerging from the newborn brain fuzz? Have to admit I am not looking forward to the next six three months myself. I didn't enjoy the baby stage atall much last time, so I'm feeling quite apprehensive.

overflowingmum has had a fly-free half term with 6 Shock DC. She has had an emergency 3 hr clean today and will be back tomorrow with her routines

ColdHeartedBitch · 27/02/2011 21:32

evening. head still bad but dosed up on stuff. Plus have a cool and sooth.
Not much flying been due but school uniform and bags are ready for school. Curled up in bed and about to crash for the night. So will manage the early night thing.

pushmepullyou · 27/02/2011 21:33

x-post with PA, who has had a good day and will be back in March Smile

pushmepullyou · 27/02/2011 21:34

...and with CHB sorry to hear your head is still bad. Hopefully the early night will fix it!

pushmepullyou · 27/02/2011 22:09

Right then - my last set of links Smile Sad Grin

Tomorrow's baby step is to eat good food, drink water and get rest. As we've only got 28 days in February we're going to miss the last three babysteps, but if anyone's feeling deprived they are make time for the weekly pamper mission, check your calendar for next months events, and finally, a life-affirming testimonial from flylady who is so proud of you Hmm Grin

Tomorrow's mission is here. Have to admit I can't remember which zone we'll be in tomorrow - maybe the living room? We shall see!

NettieISroundlikefiggypudding · 27/02/2011 22:15

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 27/02/2011 22:37

well, experiment here, posting from Amazon Kindle, been trying to get to sleep for an hour unsuccessfully, so I am experimenting. It is verry fiddly. Night all.

Makingchanges · 27/02/2011 22:38

Evening just off to bed - Can't catch up with thread cos DH is looking exasperated that I'm not ready yet.

swan - Book Zumba, It was fab. I was ignored by the organiser but just threw myself in and loved it, even though I got myself in knots at times.

OFM I was wondering how you are - glad you survived half-term

Hello to others

Anyway - Zumba done, went swimming with DH and DD for the first time in my life and managed the perfect breaststoke (according to DH) for a couple of strokes. Also managed to swim without another persons hands within grabbing distance.

All uni work done, uniform located and DDs homework done.

Will be back tomorrow - first day off exercise for over a week but a full day in uni to compensate Hmm

Night all

Toffeefudgecake · 27/02/2011 23:01

Took DS2 to farm party today, but he was poorly and wouldn't join in. Eventually, I had to call a taxi early to take us home again. He was fine after some Calpol - just not up to running around with lots of children at a farm on a chilly day.

I had much more energy today (maybe because I went to bed early for a change last night and had eight hours' sleep), so I managed to do a big clean up in the kitchen, shine my sink, put lots of laundry away and do some ironing. I felt quite pleased with myself until I read PA's post Wink.

My neck is fine today and both boys are being careful not to jump out at me again. I think I scared them a bit yesterday because I was so cross about it.

I deliberately didn't go online today (too distracting), but I have just read through today's posts.

Makingchanges - well done on the swimming certificate! (And also on writing 1000 words for your essay).

Swan - sorry to hear you were tired today. Hope you feel better tomorrow. It's a relief to hear other boys ignore their grandma too. The trouble is that DS1 and his grandma have absolutely nothing to talk about anymore. The only thing DS wants to talk about is Roblox. The only thing MIL wants to talk about is illness and the mundanities of life. It's easy with DS2 because he enjoys all the attention MIL gives him, whereas DS1 just wants to be left alone.

MissJ - the teething stage is awful. I do sympathise. I don't think it's sad that you call your DH your best friend, btw - mine is too. I also felt very isolated when I had my first child. All my friends were still working and I didn't know anyone with children. I felt so lonely, having to learn how to look after a baby all on my own. My NCT group was a godsend (one of them became one of my dearest friends - she is visiting this weekend, in fact) and I made sure I went out with my baby every single day, no matter how exhausted I was. I made myself go to playgroups and talk to people, even though it was often the last thing I wanted to do. To be honest, I was desperate for adult company. It took time to make new friends, but it did happen. I'm sure it will happen for you too. I wish I'd known about MN then - it would have been especially helpful during those long sleepless nights.

I am still puzzling over the bird. Where on earth is it? You will tell us if you find out, won't you?

Linzer - that sounds like a fantastic weekend! I'm glad you managed to see both films and that they were both worth it. Sorry your DS was wheezy again though. Re: packing - I finally finished unpacking today, four days' after our return Blush.

Ellie - hope you managed to get your one-to-one time with DD. I know what you mean about that. That is one of the reasons I'm enjoying having DS1 to myself again when he's not at school. Enjoy your night out at X Factor. (And tell us all about it!)

Ballinderry - congratulations on keeping up with your shiny sink. I must take note. I gave mine a proper shine today for the first time in ... well, a long time.

Still - I'm not surprised you weren't up to Flying much today - you are tired and freezing! Hope the heating gets sorted soon. You are right not to take a risk though.

Ihate - sounds like a lovely lazy morning Smile. I love the pancakes. I went through a phase of doing that a lot - you have reminded me. Must do it again - the boys loved it (yummy with maple syrup).

Whoknows/Ogre - thanks for offering to lead next month's thread.

Darts - sounds as if you have had quite a day. Hope your DD's ankle gets better soon. Am intrigued by the Olbas oil down the loo fiasco .

MiniMarmite - welcome back! I am also frantically tidying up for a MIL visit (mine's on Tuesday morning. When's yours?).

OverflowingMum - welcome back. Glad you enjoyed your half-term week. Mine was a non-Flying event too. To be honest, it's nice not to bother with the routines for a bit. But I don't enjoy the messy house at the end of the week.

PA - Shock that you paired 236 socks! And ironed 26 shirts! And managed more on your list too. You are a human dynamo.

PMPY - thanks for the fab round up. I'm glad your migraine has gone at last. It's awful not being able to take tablets for it. It was no problem doing the steps last night. Hope your last week at work goes well (and that you get a proper send off on Friday Wink).

CHB - another poorly head Sad. But sounds as if you are all set for tomorrow. Hope you get your early night.

Phew. Hope that's everyone.

Am going to do a last-minute check that everything is ready for tomorrow and then off to bed for an early night. I have put up a new reward chart for both boys to encourage them to get themselves ready in the morning. The chart (which I downloaded) includes them making their own beds. DS1 has started doing it himself since helping me with the chores, but it will be a new experience for DS2 (he's only five - is it too young?). I can but try - gives me one less thing to do in my morning routine.

Hope you all get a good night's sleep tonight. Good luck with the school runs tomorrow.

ColdHeartedBitch · 27/02/2011 23:06

sorry got side tracked.

Ihatecobwebs · 27/02/2011 23:07

swanriver · 27/02/2011 23:07

MC I have been practising some ballet instead Blush in the privacy of my own home
OFM have a good day tomorrow!
PA I do love a little sock sorting, they are so easy to chuck in comparison to most decluttering decisions..if in doubt I use them as dusters then throw them in the bin
Push ah but so sweet, and an excuse to do less housework giveupcompletely and eat chocolate

dh and I have been arguing about highsleepers for ds2 (do children ever sit at those little pokey desks or just bang their heads - could ds2 ever be persuaded to hang his clothes up in a real live wardrobe etc etc), not very heatedly, after watching South Riding.
I hope it is not PE tomorrow, as I have not washed their kit Blush - in fact tomorrow, is, catchup day.

swanriver · 27/02/2011 23:12

Cobweb good luck with party planning. I have given several parties. My hair is snow white from party planning. No, it gets easier when you realise they just like to play a few games then run around in the garden in a not particularily structured way Hmm - that's if you have a garden.. which I think you do? I think boys need less organising than girls funnily enough, ds2 parties have always worked better than dd's.

swanriver · 27/02/2011 23:15

And ds2 has always absolutely loved having a THEME to his parties, Space, Cowboys, that sort of thing. And they still just "played" but I think they liked dressing up a bit... Maybe that was when he was older..I can't remember now...

Ihatecobwebs · 27/02/2011 23:17

Swan we have a garden, but unfortunately it is not very big, and neither it, nor the house is particularly "lots of little children" child friendly. I am pondering on using the village hall. It would be £8/hour, and I would have access to the Mother and Toddler equipment.
