Took DS2 to farm party today, but he was poorly and wouldn't join in. Eventually, I had to call a taxi early to take us home again. He was fine after some Calpol - just not up to running around with lots of children at a farm on a chilly day.
I had much more energy today (maybe because I went to bed early for a change last night and had eight hours' sleep), so I managed to do a big clean up in the kitchen, shine my sink, put lots of laundry away and do some ironing. I felt quite pleased with myself until I read PA's post
.
My neck is fine today and both boys are being careful not to jump out at me again. I think I scared them a bit yesterday because I was so cross about it.
I deliberately didn't go online today (too distracting), but I have just read through today's posts.
Makingchanges - well done on the swimming certificate! (And also on writing 1000 words for your essay).
Swan - sorry to hear you were tired today. Hope you feel better tomorrow. It's a relief to hear other boys ignore their grandma too. The trouble is that DS1 and his grandma have absolutely nothing to talk about anymore. The only thing DS wants to talk about is Roblox. The only thing MIL wants to talk about is illness and the mundanities of life. It's easy with DS2 because he enjoys all the attention MIL gives him, whereas DS1 just wants to be left alone.
MissJ - the teething stage is awful. I do sympathise. I don't think it's sad that you call your DH your best friend, btw - mine is too. I also felt very isolated when I had my first child. All my friends were still working and I didn't know anyone with children. I felt so lonely, having to learn how to look after a baby all on my own. My NCT group was a godsend (one of them became one of my dearest friends - she is visiting this weekend, in fact) and I made sure I went out with my baby every single day, no matter how exhausted I was. I made myself go to playgroups and talk to people, even though it was often the last thing I wanted to do. To be honest, I was desperate for adult company. It took time to make new friends, but it did happen. I'm sure it will happen for you too. I wish I'd known about MN then - it would have been especially helpful during those long sleepless nights.
I am still puzzling over the bird. Where on earth is it? You will tell us if you find out, won't you?
Linzer - that sounds like a fantastic weekend! I'm glad you managed to see both films and that they were both worth it. Sorry your DS was wheezy again though. Re: packing - I finally finished unpacking today, four days' after our return
.
Ellie - hope you managed to get your one-to-one time with DD. I know what you mean about that. That is one of the reasons I'm enjoying having DS1 to myself again when he's not at school. Enjoy your night out at X Factor. (And tell us all about it!)
Ballinderry - congratulations on keeping up with your shiny sink. I must take note. I gave mine a proper shine today for the first time in ... well, a long time.
Still - I'm not surprised you weren't up to Flying much today - you are tired and freezing! Hope the heating gets sorted soon. You are right not to take a risk though.
Ihate - sounds like a lovely lazy morning
. I love the pancakes. I went through a phase of doing that a lot - you have reminded me. Must do it again - the boys loved it (yummy with maple syrup).
Whoknows/Ogre - thanks for offering to lead next month's thread.
Darts - sounds as if you have had quite a day. Hope your DD's ankle gets better soon. Am intrigued by the Olbas oil down the loo fiasco .
MiniMarmite - welcome back! I am also frantically tidying up for a MIL visit (mine's on Tuesday morning. When's yours?).
OverflowingMum - welcome back. Glad you enjoyed your half-term week. Mine was a non-Flying event too. To be honest, it's nice not to bother with the routines for a bit. But I don't enjoy the messy house at the end of the week.
PA -
that you paired 236 socks! And ironed 26 shirts! And managed more on your list too. You are a human dynamo.
PMPY - thanks for the fab round up. I'm glad your migraine has gone at last. It's awful not being able to take tablets for it. It was no problem doing the steps last night. Hope your last week at work goes well (and that you get a proper send off on Friday
).
CHB - another poorly head
. But sounds as if you are all set for tomorrow. Hope you get your early night.
Phew. Hope that's everyone.
Am going to do a last-minute check that everything is ready for tomorrow and then off to bed for an early night. I have put up a new reward chart for both boys to encourage them to get themselves ready in the morning. The chart (which I downloaded) includes them making their own beds. DS1 has started doing it himself since helping me with the chores, but it will be a new experience for DS2 (he's only five - is it too young?). I can but try - gives me one less thing to do in my morning routine.
Hope you all get a good night's sleep tonight. Good luck with the school runs tomorrow.
