Morning everyone,

I didn't know if pmpy would get on today and I didn't want the thread to run out of space for our chat housework musings so thought I would create another one.

Hope you don't mind pmpy!

Toffeefudgecake · 25/02/2011 22:02

We are one of the scariest groups on MN! See here!

Welcome back, COCKadoodledooo Smile.

NettieISroundlikefiggypudding · 26/02/2011 02:00

Hello everyone, thanks for welcome back
And sorry for delay. Well my list is as before.

I shined my sink today and almost emptied one case and tidied up after a playdate.

Tomorrow is WW start date
Routines
Lie in
Timer using day
Keeping up with thread day. Even if I have to set the timer on this too-(had quick skim)
Off to sleep now

See you guys tomorrow

Stillchuckingit · 26/02/2011 10:46

Hello,

Very quiet on here at the moment. Hope everyone is enjoying the last throes of the holidays in UK.

lol Toffee apparently we are scarily and intimidatingly efficient!! Best not to disillusion them I think Wink

Good to see you Cockadoodle and Nettie

Any sign of the bird MissJ?

Respect to Darts and MakingChanges for exercising as well as Flying (something I need to be doing but I'm not )

Waves to Feetheart, Linzer and Swan

Well it looks like I have a sewing reprieve. DD now saying she doesn't want to go as Snow White and wants to wear something I made her a couple of years back which still fits. Can't quite believe my luck! Must check it with her again today in case she has changed her mind (which she tends to do every 10 mins!!) Smile

I'm not feeling very organised this morning. Had a bit of a lie in. Slow start. It'll be lunch time before I know it ...must get cracking ...

Toffeefudgecake · 26/02/2011 10:51

Nettie - that was a late night! What is WW Confused?

Linzer - hope you enjoyed 'The King's Speech' last night.

Apart from a brief awakening to change DS2's sheets in the early hours (first time he has wet his bed in over a week though), I had a decent lie in till after 8 this morning. Have done breakfast, played with DS2, cuddled DS1, loaded and put the dishwasher on, loaded tumbledrier (with yesterday's wet clothes Blush) and put son's wet sheets in washing machine - and checked threads on MN.

I have a deadline to get the house sorted now (it's such a mess at the moment): MIL is coming on Tuesday, as she is going to look at some sheltered housing nearby. I will have to home educate DS1 in the morning and work in the afternoon, so don't quite know how I'm going to fit in being sociable with MIL too Confused and it seems a bit rude to leave her on her own.

List today:

Get dressed
Pile all the clutter into a big crate and hide it somewhere
Crisis clean
Walk into town to buy birthday presents and folders and paper for home ed
Laundry - put away
School uniform - iron and hang up
Polish shoes
PM routine
Evening routine
Wine Smile

Hope you are all having a nice Saturday so far.

Toffeefudgecake · 26/02/2011 10:54

X posted, Still. I was wondering where everyone was this morning too. Good to see that everyone thinks we are scarily efficient, isn't it? They don't know about the cba days, obviously (I seem to be having a lot of those at the moment Wink).

Makingchanges · 26/02/2011 12:27

Good afternoon all.

Sounds like a good list toffee - I like the putting everything in a crate idea.

Still a lie in last week put me all wrong as well - I work better when I get up early but I'm such a night owl, I love my lie-ins. Hope DD doesn't change his mind.

Hello everyone else

DH is still in a foul mood and being a total grump. He is stropping around the house tidying - Making hints about how untidy it is (It isn't) - I'm ignoring him as I have bitten once today already and ended up in an argument.

Been for PT session at the gym - Was worked very hard, not just finishing lunch and then off for swimming lesson.

To Do

  • Swimming
  • Shopping
  • Uni work
  • Sort out one of my drawers of clothes - going to be ruthless and toss out all the old/unfitting etc clothes
  • Parcel up some things for post office (take if time)
  • Washing x2
  • Tidy paperwork pile on top of computer desk
  • Homework with DD
  • Wii dancing game with DD

Back later

NettieISroundlikefiggypudding · 26/02/2011 13:43

toffee WW is weight watchers. Hope mil visit to sheltered goes well. How's home Ed going?
still now that is a result! Being one who cannot sew I think I'd have to eBay all dressing up clothes when I get to that stage!
mc sorry bout grumpy dh! Nothing worse well done on ignoring and trying not to bit! Think I would end up telling him to move his ass and get on with it instead of complaining.
linzer hope kings speech was good and you had a lovely night out.

Must get on so I've done something productive today. Wheres my motivation and my timer gone......

Stillchuckingit · 26/02/2011 14:31

Afternoon break

Lays out Brew and Biscuit for everyone who is in need of a me-pick-up owing to grumpy dh's, quarrelsome twosomes or sodden bedclothes!

Right, feeling slight more dynamic than I did this morning. DD packed off to party. Dh away. So have house to myself to crack on for at least 2.5 hrs.
Going to make the most of it:

Prepare urgent parcel and urgent letter for post
Other post
Laundry of doom
Sort and rearrange shoes in wardrobe
Clean out some drawers in boudoir
General tidy up of kitchen
Sort present cupboard
Decluttering in office

swanriver · 26/02/2011 15:53

dh managed to get twins to make a START on projects (he has his uses Wink) I think he was determined to show me he could do it better than me Grin
although dictating Southampton (Titanic dock etc)to ds2 nearly reduced him to gibbering wreck GrinGrin

Dd and I had a lovely morning buying loads of stationery for "projects" in Staples (she is her mother's daughter) rather than actually doing project. I then attempted to show her the joys of B & Q but that didn't go down so well (I seem to remember my own mother making this mistake in her building phase)

Dh cooked lunch, and took sons for a walk to Tesco to buy icecream Blush
done
lots of laundry away
stationery re-stock

Toffee what about getting ds to interview MIL on some subject, and write it up, and that could be his entire education for the day - my kids are always being giving homework like that and they never have anyone to interview...Blush

Nettie mine were quarreling, I think it is Spring Smile

otherwise today is quite relaxing, I think all the exercise last week as made everyone a bit more settled in some ways and able just to potter around a bit today..[famous last words]

I'm off to library to find some books on Pocahontas and Aloquin peoples etc...I doubt dd will read them though Sad I will learn loads and dd will enjoy punching holes in bits of paper Hmm

pushmepullyou · 26/02/2011 18:20

Hello everyone. I'm still here but have a horrible mnigraine. It's been threatening all week and finally caught up with me properly last night. Sorry I didn't manage to post yesterday. Will hopefully be back on full form tomorrow, but if anyone's passing is there any chance of posting the babysteps for me tonight? Would be much appreciated if so! Thanks Smile

Ihatecobwebs · 26/02/2011 18:29

I've just won the "Mean Mummy of the Week" award. I asked DS to clear up his lego in the living room, and his rail track in the bedroom - cue whining that its too difficult, need help, want snack etc etc. I held out with "you got it all out easily enough ..., snack will happen AFTER lego is packed away". Took him 1 1/2 hours to put the lego away Shock, so snack has now been given very close to meal time. He's now in his bedroom putting the track away.

Little flying done, DS and I went to a coffee morning this morning, then have been doing books and play this afternoon. Tea is now cooking, and I'm planning on getting my sewing out this evening (after I've done the playgroup pay).

PMPY i hope your migraine lifts up sonn. there must be something in the water as i am suffering with one that has been hanging about the last few days.

NettieISroundlikefiggypudding · 26/02/2011 18:54

evening all, ive had a funny old day. my dc went to bed at 5.15 Shock i was only getting them ready but they both climbed up into bed without me even saying so.

this afternoon i did accomplish some things

Still to tidy and clean bathroom-done
Empty other cases-some done
Crisis clean whole house-nope
Put ironed clothes away-nope
Pay money to friend for booking train tickets-done
Buy new dressing table and plum stool-done
Sort out student loan deferment-partially.
have also swept kitchen/dining room floors
2 loads of washing done.

still to put away clothes i stuffed on my bed and make the bed from this morning Blush

PMPY hope migrane get better, cant even take anything for it. i would love to help with links but have no idea how to go about it Blush
chb sorry you got one too, hope you feel better soon.
swan i love it dh trying to prove he can do it. esp when he ends up stressed. i love staples and ststionary too. hope dd helped a little with project
sc thx for Brew hope you enjoyed your wee bitta piece and quiet.
cobwebs love it well done on standing by it too. go supermom!

right off to tackle the master bedroom so i can get to bed reasonably early as i have a feeling dc may be up at crack of dawn and its my turn!

take care of youse all. Grin

Toffeefudgecake · 26/02/2011 19:48

I will come back and do the babysteps later, PMPY. Just getting noisy boys to bed and can't focus at the moment, but can easily do it later.

DS2 has just jumped out at me from the doorway and made me pull my neck again. I know he didn't know that would happen, but it makes me so cross. Last time it was DS1 who jumped out at me and made me pull my neck just as it was getting better. The boys seem to be going through a phase of trying to make me jump at the moment. Trouble is, they are too bloody good at it.

Back later.

Toffeefudgecake · 26/02/2011 21:39

Today's babystep was pointless for all those with the good sense not to subscribe to Flylady's emails (babystep 26: check the bottom of each Flylady email), so I'll skip it and go straight to the next one (for tomorrow), which is much more useful and is to plan what's for dinner.

Sunday is 'renew your spirit day'. Daily reminders are here. Remember to lay your clothes out on Sunday night, so you are ready to go on Monday morning.

PMPY - hope your migraine gets better soon. Poor you.

Ihatecobwebs - you are certainly setting boundaries! Well done for sticking to your word - it's not easy, but it will pay off in the end.

CHB - sorry you have a migraine too Sad.

Nettie - DC to bed at 5.15 Shock! Yes, I think you will be up early tomorrow...

Swan - thanks for the idea about DS interviewing MIL. He interviewed her a few months ago about WWII (for his school topic book). The trouble is that he finds her very stressful to be around (he can't even watch telly with her Sad), so will probably escape up to his room. I did think of suggesting they make a cake together, as this is something she loves doing, but I'm not sure if he'll want to do this either.

Still - thanks for the tea and biscuits earlier. I think I fell into all three of those categories (although I was the grumpy one, not DH Blush).

Makingchanges - crate idea good, except that I didn't get round to doing it! Will try again tomorrow.

MissJ - I don't think you posted today, but I hope you had a better day. Cross fingers that you get some sleep tonight!

Linzer - Hope you are at the cinema again tonight, as planned!

I felt all wrong today - I don't know why. I'm not on top of things in the house at all, but just can't motivate myself. Now that DS2 has managed to put my neck out again, I think the only thing for it is to go to bed very early and try to do better tomorrow. I've taken Ibuprofen, several slurps of Wine and have balanced an ice pack on my shoulders - I think a good night's sleep is the only thing left.

Am missing my Sunday lie in tomorrow as I'm taking DS2 to a 4th birthday party at a farm in the morning. As we still don't have a car, I have had to book a taxi there and back. We have to leave at 10am, so at least that should galvanise me.

Good night all.

Makingchanges · 26/02/2011 22:37

Evening all

Toffee hope neck better tomorrow

CHB and PMPY hope migraine goes by tomorrow (or is better at least)

Nettie hope DCs not up too early tomorrow

Hello everyone else.

Well I made it to the end of my intensive swimming course and got myself a 5 metre certificate which I am strangely proud of. She gave it me cos DD was going to make one for me and cos I managed 5 metres at both breaststroke, doggy paddleandfront crawl. Not bad to say a week ago I was scared of water. DD said she was proud of me too and gave me a big hugGrin - now trying to see if I can fit in a lesson a week to keep up momentum.

DH has taken out his frustration today on DD's wardrobe and cleared out all the clothes that she has grown out of. I'm so glad as it was a job that was desperately in need of doing.

I have been shopping, and written 1000 words on my essay. Now off to bed as up early tomorrow to try out a Zumba class Hmm - slightly nervous as to whether I'm gonna be able to keep up.

Jobs for tomorrow

  • DD homework (carried over from today)
  • Zumba
  • Swimming with DD and DH
  • More essay writing
  • Find where uniform was put after washing
  • Print out uni notes for Monday
  • revise for test on Monday
  • Go to in-laws to plan summer holiday
  • Sort out another drawer of my clothes.
  • Hoover bedrooms
  • Go back over weeks missions

Off to bed - back tomorrow. Night all

swanriver · 26/02/2011 23:10

MC admiring of all your PGCE work, at least it can't be boring, even if it is tiring...
Envy zumba, you will have to tell me if I should book too
Toffee I hate it when they jump out on me or on me, or pull me over, makes me irrationally furious - I think we need to protect ourselves - we are too important to have knocks and bumps. Poor you, visits from relatives do create a stress all of their own, hope escaping to farm helps. Dd loves her grandma, but I have to say that the boys behave as if she's not there when she's here, not very polite or observant or chatty to her.
Cobweb & SC I have been sewing all evening and listening to Supertramp Blush
We have such a fantastic discount fabric shop round the corner. I must sew more, I must must must! Did slightly err on dd's waistband for Narnia outfit (halved the measurement by mistake), may now have to put a zip in Shock rather than easy elastic..Blush Dd shows suprising talent in draping the fabric for me - at least she knows what she wants it to look like! Whether she will get the Lucy look is another matter Hmm

Faijitas for "easy" family supper, very nice, still have to wash up though. Which I will do now
GOOD NIGHT ALL.

missjulie · 27/02/2011 01:26

Hello lovely ladies!
Sorry not been on much the last few days. Head been real bad, and been so so tired.
DD is teething, and the last 2 nights have been hell! Poor wee mite!

Thanks toffee, I hate DH being away. I do have parents fairly close - about half an hour away, but we're not all that close. I see them once a week. This sounds really sad, but i don't have any close friends, my best friend, as sad as this sounds, is my DH. We were best friends for 11 years before we got together. My other best friend has moved to Australia!!! So am a bit lonely to say the least!!!! But have now found MN!!!! - PHEW!

making i do have a cat flap, i have 2 cat flaps, so the bird would have had to be some sort of genius in order to negotiate firstly the living room catflap, then the front door!!! Can't find it anywhere!
We don't have a chimney. The cat never eats anything it has caught. There are no remains anywhere, and no more feathers, or bird poo has turned up (after the mammoth clean up!!!)

swan, it's a nightmare!! He always brings things in live and lets us chase them!!! Birds, mice, had a bat once!!!! Blush

still - no sign of the bird yet!!! Lol!

chb & pmpy, i so sympethise with the bad heads! Mine is a little better, hope you are both soon back to normal too!

Have only just scanned the thread. Blush
Hope everyone is having a good wkend.
Sorry not been about, have missed you all.

Not got much flying done at all last few days, but am managing to shine my sink daily!!!

Hopefully chat soon.
xxx

LinzerTorte · 27/02/2011 07:55

Just popping in from my ILs - my laptop was being very temperamental yesterday and I lost a long post in the afternoon, then couldn't get online at all later, so won't risk writing too much now. Both films were excellent and we also had a lovely meal out yesterday evening. We're going out for lunch today for my FIL's 75th, although I'm not looking forward to that quite as much (11.30 is far too early for me for lunch - and my ILs will probably want to be there about 11.15 - plus the restaurant doesn't have any vegetarian dishes). I'm also feeling quite tired, not just due to the later nights but also because DD2 was up at 6 yesterday as she'd wet the bed (a very rare occurrence) and DS slept badly last night as he was very wheezy.

Apologies for the lack of personals (all the ones I wrote yesterday were lost - grr) as I haven't got time to catch up properly at the moment, but hope everyone's having a lovely weekend.

elliepac · 27/02/2011 08:12

Morning all! SOrry I have been awol for a few days, busy, busy, busy!

Not a huge amount of flying to report. Managing to just about keep on top of everything and that's about it!

Very quiet here this morning. DS was out last night at a sleepeover with Beavers, DH is still in bed and DD is happily playing with toys! It is a beautiful day here so am not sure how much flying will get done. Might take the opportunity to go to the park this morning and do something with DD. It is nice to get some time with her, brings back memories of when it was just DS, it's so much harder with 2 (pmpy close your eyes and ignore that bit Grin). If I do manage to get something done, the list looks like this:-

General tidy
Car clean out (must do this as it goes for MOT tomorrow and it is disgusting Blush)
Dinner (stew and dumplings)
Beds changed
Washing
Drying
Putting away
Master bedroom (i love calling it that a la fat fairy even though DS's room is bigger than ours!)
Have some fun with DD

Got to be organised as have a busy week. Tuesday, Dsis and I are taking DS and DN to the X Factor tour concert so that will be a late night and we are away next weekend at the caravan for the first time this year! Mum has upgraded to one with central heating so am hoping for some sunny weather, some bracing walks along the beach and general relaxation.

Am going to try and catch up with the thread now!

OP posts:
ballinderrymum · 27/02/2011 09:06

i am still here and shining my sink. have been very busy but managing (just about) to keep up with the thread. hopefully will be nice today so will get some washing dried outside - it is so much nicer getting the washing out of the house.

i hope everyones pains and aches have gone with a good nights sleep. i get migraines - you have my sympathy pmpy especially while pregnant as you can't really take anything - i find ibuprofen is the best - i should have shares in nurofen!

take care all and happy flying :)

Stillchuckingit · 27/02/2011 09:07

Morning all

Bit bleary-eyed this morning. Dh away and dd was in our bed grinding her teeth in the night really loudly and then up at crack of sparrows despite returning late from a party last night (well, late for her.. 7.30pm!) We've decided to stay at home and not go to riding or to church for once. House is cold because I've turned off central heating (wierd gas-like smell in sitting room last night). Need to get it checked. Fortunately, our hot water is on different system. Not feeling very together in terms of Flying. So dd is wrapped up in three duvets watching telly for once and I'm trying to resist the lure of my own duvet by Flying in rather a random manner. Just about to descend to laundry of doom until I can shake off the inertia and can think straight...

PMPY poor you - migraines (especially when you can't take any medication) are horrid - get well soon x

Toffee thanks for steps! Meal planning keeps me sane (or should I say, slightly less insane than I am already!) HOpe your shoulder gets better soon - it sounds really painful x

Yo Ellie Can we come to your place for stew and dumplings please? Sounds delicious!!Good luck with prep for your busy week.

MissJ sorry you are feeling a bit isolated (especially hard with non-sleeping baby!) Are there any local Mumsnet meet-ups near you? (Prob not very practical suggestion if you've been up all night but may be poss in future?) I agree anyway, it is nice to be able to natter on here!

Linzer wishing you courage with your restaurant marathon!

Swan costume sounds fab! I am interested in Zumba too (but in my case I think it will be Zumba old crone "Gold" classes Grin!

Yay MakingChanges congrats on your 5m certificate! That's a real achievement!

Nettie - dc who take themselves off happily for an early night Shock??? Please tell me your secret!!

Hope your head is clearing today CHB

Well done Cobwebs for sticking to your guns!! Best to instill these things early - I've feel as though the boat may have already sailed with dd. Hung up freshly ironed school blouses for her to choose from the other day; later found the ones she hadn't worn just flung on the bathroom floor ...[anger] Must tighten up the rules a bit I think ...

Have a good day everyone

Stillchuckingit · 27/02/2011 09:07

x posts Balinderry! Sunny here too. Just about to follow your example and hang out the washing!

elliepac · 27/02/2011 09:24

Now i feel bad as have just put my washing in dryer Grin. Will put next load on line Grin.

OP posts:
Ihatecobwebs · 27/02/2011 11:03

Lazy morning, last day of half term. We all had a lay-in (DH is still asleep), then I made pancakes for breakfast. DS loves them, and its not something I have time for on a weekday morning (well, I suppose I could if I got earlier, but I hate early mornings Grin, so its "special" days only!)

Now need to washup and semi-tidy the kitchen (DH was using it for a mini photo studio last night, and the counters and table are still cluttered with his stuff). Then, out to the garden - green bin is due for collection tomorrow and I need to clear more stuff from the garden and fill the thing.
