Morning everyone,

I didn't know if pmpy would get on today and I didn't want the thread to run out of space for our chat housework musings so thought I would create another one.

Hope you don't mind pmpy!

Where are you all this morning Confused?

We've done breakfast, about to get dressed, then starting on a crisis clean before visitors arrive at 10.30. DS2 will have a playmate. I will have an adult to talk to. And DS1 will probably hide in his room.

Very proud of DS2 this morning, as he managed to sound out and read all the words on the list sent back from school, having first told me it was far too hard for him. He was obviously surprised at himself, but he looked all pleased.

It sounds as if they are drilling through our wall from next door, where they are having the loft conversion done. I keep expecting the builders to break through. I hope they are not going to be as noisy all morning Hmm.

See you later.

Stillchuckingit · 25/02/2011 09:04

Morning all.

Back to counting paper-clips, shredding and filing this morning. I don't think my brain can take the intellectual stimulation [zombie emoticon]

Pushme lol at Fat Fairy not bathing for six months!!

Hope you feel a bit more rested today Toffee

Swan it's Blanche Neige this year (well it will be if I get my act together this w/e)

Speaking of which, I'm spoilt for choice re: Flying tasks over the next three days - too lengthy a list to write here (wrote it down on hard copy at 4am this morning having been woken by dd very anxious to tell me her dream!!)

Duty calls. Have a good day everyone!

Stillchuckingit · 25/02/2011 09:06

x posts Toffee
bravo to your ds!

Toffeefudgecake · 25/02/2011 09:13

Hi Still - am I glad to see you. Was getting a bit worried there. Thought I'd killed the Flying thread Wink.

LinzerTorte · 25/02/2011 09:18

Another stressful start to the day here - I overslept by half an hour and am still trying to catch up. The fact that I didn't get back from doing the weekly food shop until 9.15 am (I'm normally back from the school run before 8 am) hasn't helped either. Nor has the fact that my laptop has been playing up so I lost two lengthy posts that I wrote on another thread (have just managed to post a third, condensed version) and goodness knows how much time.

Am not going to spend time posting my list; will just rush round like a madwoman instead (against all Flylady's principles, I'm sure). I have 1.5 hours to get my morning routine, mission and decluttering done, plus pack for our weekend away, do yet more laundry (despite wearing a nappy, DS has managed to wet the bed for the fourth night in a row and I'm drowning in washing) and get various other bits and pieces done. We then have to rush off to DD1's dyslexia lesson straight after lunch, but I hope to get a few more things done afterwards as DD2 and DS will both be out.

Toffee Have a lovely time with your visitors and well done to your DS!

SC Counting paper clips and shredding sounds like quite a relaxing option to me this morning...

Must get off the Internet and on with things.

swanriver · 25/02/2011 09:19

children are getting dressed to go to Sports, I think I am cutting it a bit fine today [slack mum emoticon] in three minutes they need to be THERE!
must also get dressed myself!

swanriver · 25/02/2011 09:21

well ten minutes..my kitchen clock must be fast - has dh reset it [evil punctual husband attempts to outwit wife who is always late??]

feetheart · 25/02/2011 09:51

Morning all!
Need a quick list to get me back on track - 2 birthdays and half-term are having quite an effect. It has been lovely though :)

  • Morning routine
  • DD showered
  • Me hair-wash - this short hair lark means a bit more work doesn't it, no more just shoving it back in a hairband Hmm
  • Menu-plan for next few days from freezer (will try for the whole week if I can)
  • Shopping list for above (just fresh stuff if poss)
  • Out to Play Rangers in park for 11am
  • Appointment at bank for DC to open their own accounts - they are very excited :)
  • Simmons bakery for lunch

That should do for now, will update and catch up later.

Happy Flying/work/etc

swanriver · 25/02/2011 09:57

There, two children off the premises Grin

Ds2 is still here though!
Feeling slightly hungover and bleugh. Evening out was interesting - a slightly strange mixture of people we didn't know, quite riotous really. Dh and I felt like old fogies although we were the same age (mid-forties) as the others Hmm The dining table and chairs were made of perspex - am I out of the loop, is that the fashion now???

What is "Blanche Neige" SC ice queen? or a a queen from history? or fairy tale personage..

Toffee Park and baking is a busy day to me Smile I think you were most energetic.
Cobweb glad the day went well, my ds2 loves train trips and museums Smile

done
a bit of crisis cleaning last night for babysitter seems to have worked wonders Smile not too bad this morning
I am dressed...

todo till 12
buy some food with ds2 (take car)
prepare lunchboxes, take them in with ds2 at 12.ish
make beds
tackle ds2's clothes mountain
try and get him to start writing something for the blooming project [aargh]! We have looked at the Titanic book, discussed it, thought up a plan, but getting him to put pen to paper is another matter Hmm

Makingchanges · 25/02/2011 10:02

Morning all

linzer back from the school run by 8 Shock what time does school start?? If DD had to be there any earlier than 8.40 I think she'd go into meltdown.

SC I'd swap you for counting paperclips this morning

Swan hope everyone gets to sports on time. Good idea about the clock though, DH is always late, may have to try that.

Toffee hope you have a nice day with your visitors.

Well have played for 3 hours straight this morning at school, buses, shopping, cats and dogs and doctors. Now about to drop DD at GPs and off swimming. Then doing my good deed and helping my grandma with some jobs before back here to have a whizz through the downstairs and more essay writing.

Really I just want to go bck to bed - My body is groaning at the extra exercise this week and my legs are really suffering for it - 2 more lessons then a day off from swimming - yippee

Have a good day all

LinzerTorte · 25/02/2011 10:12

Still on the computer - I think I've given up on getting anything done this morning, which really isn't ths spirit - but just finishing my second cup of coffee and then I really will get on with things. (By then, I will probably have all of about 10 minutes before I have to pick up the girls.)

DH has just e-mailed me a job description (there's a job going at the university where he did his PhD), describing it as "interesting" - although the salary isn't great considering that it's in London. I wish he wouldn't do this; I get all excited thinking about a possible move back to the UK (even though I'm perfectly happy in Austria), only for him to say that he wasn't seriously thinking of applying for it. He does get very nostalgic when we go back to London, though.

Have just realised that, for once, we'll manage to have a date night tonight as we're going to see The King's Speech. I may need to have a coffee or two beforehand, however, as it doesn't start until 9 pm - we can't go to the earlier showing as DH has a meeting this afternoon (theoretically, he doesn't have to work on Friday afternoons; in practice, he normally does), so we won't be able to leave for my ILs until late afternoon.

swan Blanche Neige is Snow White - I was going to say it's one of the few things I remember from my French degree, but I don't actually remember studying any fairy tales. Smile

Makingchanges School starts at 8, so I drop the DDs off outside kindergarten (where they meet friends who they walk to school with) at 7.40 and then take DS into kindergarten, so am normally home by 7.50 am. On the downside, DD2 finishes school at 11.50 am most days (DD1 an hour later), so the school day isn't really even a whole morning.

swanriver · 25/02/2011 10:31

Linzer I'm also in need of booting off computer, various local issues and googling SIL ailment (and possible help)pondering whether to write witty replies to friend's emails...and the morning's gone!

I find the only solution is to put computer on very very high shelf out of reach. Which I am now doing!

Makingchanges · 25/02/2011 12:50

linzer not sure id like DD to only be at school in the morning, not enough time to waste for me and as i'm a night owl she'd never get there.

Swimming done - learnt breast stroke - good lesson - gone to pick DD up but they are not in and fil phone switched off so now hanging around until they re-appear. (glad i brought spare keys and book)

Back later

Toffeefudgecake · 25/02/2011 15:21

Very nice morning with my friend and her two young children. The boys played well together for three hours, with only a few interventions and some lunch required. I have managed to tidy up DS2's bedroom and now have the kitchen to tackle. I really can't get into the swing of housework at the moment though - it's so boring!

I need to use my timer again, don't I?

Linzer - I hope you are not still on the computer! Enjoy your date night tonight.

Swan - hope the hangover is better now. Sounds like an intriguing evening, if not a relaxing one. Don't know about Perspex chairs - I must be out of the loop too. Wooden is fine by me.

Hello to Feet and Makingchanges.

Must get up off my arse and do some work now. Washing up needs doing, dinner needs cooking and there's laundry everywhere.

Maybe I'll have Brew first....

swanriver · 25/02/2011 17:36

oh dear, hope you find the gps MC well done for mastering breaststroke!

done
lunchboxes
dropped off ds2 (no project Sad
food shop for weekend
decluttered and cleaned ds2's room and sorted drawers/outgrown books
picked up dcs from final day of Sports and went to presentation ceremony - unfortunately my children then all complained bitterly that their team hadn't got medals (not good losers Wink
and then dd then complained bitterly that she hadn't done her project Shock I knew it would come to this!!!!!!

hey ho
also found an outgrown nightie of dd's that I could possibly attach Narnia sleeves to, and skirt....Grin

house looking quite tidy for once

have bought a lot of easy food, so pizza and salad for tea.

swanriver · 25/02/2011 17:38

todo
after lots of walking and heavy bags, wrestling with overtired dcs, I think I need a cup of tea Grin

unload and reload dw too
recycling - keep on top of it
sweep front path - ditto

missjulie · 25/02/2011 17:52

Hello all,
So having a really crap week. So tired, and no motivation at all. Hardly getting anything done at all, except basic stuff, and sink shining!
Did manage to go for a walk with DD again today, to see the chickens and horses, was nice. One of the horses got so close, and cheeky, he stuck his head right in the pram!!!!! Happened so quickly!! lol! DD wasn't bothered at all! Took it all in her stride!
My headache hasn't shifted. :( I am prone to them, but not had one this bad for months and months, so feeling bit down with it.
Didn't help that last night, DD did sleep better, but got woken up at 3am by the cat, who had taken in a LIVE bird, which was flapping around the whole house, feathers everywhere! GRRRRRR!!!!
Got up, tried to help cat catch bird, no luck. Got back to bed, couldn't sleep for noise of cat trying to catch bird!!! GRRRR!
Got up again, tried to help cat, no luck!
Cat and i both gave up!!!
Both went for sleep!
Woke up, had to hoover whole house to get rid of feathers, and clean bird poo from everywhere! What a start to the day!
The Blush thing is though, that now, there is no sign of the bird!!!!! Weird!!!

Hope everyone is having a nice day. Sorry, haven't managed to read the thread.
xxx

swanriver · 25/02/2011 17:56

path done
dw done
recycling done
laundry upstairs, and another load in done

now pressing on with 15 mins of project supervision as dd has appeared looking enthusiastic Smile

DartsRus · 25/02/2011 20:33

Evening all!

Didn't get a chance to MN earlier, cos of so many things to do (and I got some unacustomed exercise as well. that'll do me some good Grin)

Got up and left at 0815 to drop car off for service, and walked back. 1 mile of extra exercise, walked fast to beat of music on mp3. Whew!

DP was working late tonight, so he was with dcs until I got back about 0900.

Then:
Dishwasher,
hoovered
sorted clean clothes
SHINED SINK!
walked into town (another mile+) for shopping and new school shoes for dd (none available in ds size)
walked home,
lunch
and we all walked down to fetch car (needs new indicator stalked, but it won't cost, because I reminded the nice man it's covered by a warranty - he looked disappointed Grin)
Sadly also need two new tyres soon - not covered by warranty....
Filled up car with stuff to go to recyling depot, and duly delivered it all.
Bought water and paracetamol while out because blasted tendonitis in shoulder has flared up again - have to be careful driving because it really hurts. Tabs are working at the moment, so not too bad now.
Took kids to Macdonald's for rare treat - I stuck to coffee
Cooked dinner for dp and I - came up with a way of using up some stuff in the fridge and it wored really well (If you need to know I cut a pocket in chicken breasts, stuffed in some garlic & herb philly, wrapped in bacon, and a light sprinkle of parmesan on top, roasted and served with chips and steamed veg)

And finally.....am sitting here with a Wine! Although I won't be able to for long because the angle of the keyboard and mouse will play havoc with shoulder so I thought I'd come to this thread first!

Tomorrow is going to be a laid back sort of day - especially as the rugby's on.......

Toffeefudgecake · 25/02/2011 20:53

Am on the Wine now, so really not going to be very productive from now on. Have done the washing up (several times Confused) and cooked a very nice chicken casserole which we have just eaten, so I am not a complete failure, anyway.

The car is not going to be ready till Monday, which means poor DH has to catch two trains into work again that day and I have to work out how to get DS to a party at a farm several miles away on Sunday. The garage say they have had to send off for a spare part which won't be delivered till Monday. We are getting worried that this is going to be expensive.

Makingchanges - well done on the swimming lesson. Remember how scared you were before the first lesson? And now you are learning breast stroke. Fantastic! I have a friend who learned to swim in her 30s. She swims every week now and really enjoys it.

Swan - I like the easy dinner idea. Am all in favour of easy dinners.

MissJ - oh, that bloody bird and cat! You poor, poor thing. That's really all you need, isn't it? Do you think the bird went up the chimney to get out? (Or the cat ate it, maybe Shock). It must be really hard to deal with all this without your nearest and dearest at home. I do feel for you. I hope you have family and/or close friends you can turn to. And there's us, of course! This difficult phase with your DD will pass, if that is a small comfort to you. I was describing my routine with DS1 in the first year of his life to a friend today and it brought back how bloody hard it was. Up at 5 every day, busy, busy, busy with child and associated duties (meals, etc), then up half the night with said child as well. It is such hard work and must be extremely hard if you don't have your DH there to commiserate with you. I think you are doing fantastically.

Darts - well done on fitting exercise into your Flylady routine. That is an area where I am sadly lacking.

DS1 is watching an episode of 'Voyager' with DH. DS2 is excavating our messy 'arts-and-crafts' cupboard. Have just noticed the time... it's long past his bedtime.

Enjoy your Friday night everyone (how many of you are having a 'date night'?!)

Makingchanges · 25/02/2011 21:03

Date night, date, he'll be lucky if I've not gone to the pub in a minute. Hes stropping round cos DD had some friends around and made a mess. They were still here when he came and I'm doing uni work so he has been left to tidy up. You would think from his reaction that I have been sitting on my bum drinking tea all day. Seems like he is in a mood.

MissJ have you go a cat flap - did the bird escape through that?

Darts well done on the exercise and I hope that the car isn't too expensive Toffee

All jobs planned have been done as well as a complete clean up of kitchen whilst house was infiltrated by mini people. Am now going to have a non-alcoholic beer Hmm (on meds) and finish my uni reading before watching something I don't need to use my brain for and then bed.

Early morning tomorrow, DDs dance, I have PT session at gym then swimming lesson. Will be back tomorrow afternoon no doubt

DartsRus · 25/02/2011 21:26

The Wine is having an effect. I've been dancing! when was the last time I did that!!!!!! Grin

Think I should quit while I'm ahead and rest my poor shoulder with a microwave heat pouch.

swanriver · 25/02/2011 21:35

Darts I heart warranties...the first years with a newish car when it doesn't matter what goes wrong, and they have to pay for it Smile
sadly ours is heading for seven year itch now

MsJ my parents' house is a magnet for birds - I hate it when birds fly in and just fly round and round desperately. Hope you find it eventually Sad

oh dh here.

swanriver · 25/02/2011 21:38

he's gone again...Wink

horrendous time with projects, I threw first page of ds2's in the bin, ds2 then tore up dd's first page. All calm now, with dd obsessively researching Pocahontas who she is visiting in her time machine. Well, I don't know if listening to Disney rendition of songs counts Hmm

house still tidy though!

COCKadoodledooo · 25/02/2011 21:49

I joined you and then disappeared, how rude Blush

Good news is that I have been having a good old declutter Grin

4 sacks for the charity shop, 6 for the tip. Have been more ruthless than I've ever been,

And my sink has been shined every day!

Please nag me to keep it up now!
