Ali - shop-bought playdough isn't as good as the home made stuff, and dries out very quickly. I remember plasticine being very stiff and difficult to work with you see.

Freakoid, raising two children and managing the home. Include any voluntary things like helping at playgroup.

The portage worker always makes good playdough when she's here, i should ask her for the proportions. And AFAIK she doesn't put in stuff that i've seen on here, cream of tartare or baking soda or something.

Freaki
I agree with Wasting. So I have added bits:

Over the past four years I have devoted my time to raising two children and managing the home and finances. I have gained skills in managing schedules and forward planning.

Include any voluntary things like helping at playgroup. Yep agree.

Think of the skills of communication and diplomacy that you have masteredGrin
If they are what the job needs of course.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 06/12/2010 16:45

I am finding that I grind to a halt in the afternoons. By the time I've cleared up lunch and then read to DS and/or played with him it's half 3/4 and time to think about dinner.

That is where I'm going wrong with playdough then - how do I make my own? I will google :)

JKS that is a rubbish situation :( I have replied on the thread, but it just occured to me that if they have just moved in then perhaps the house is a bit echoing, and once they have unpacked properly then the sounds may be more muffled? Have they got curtains etc everywhere yet or not?

I am in a bad mood, just had a stupid row with DH. I can be short tempered but once I've got cross then it's over and I don't drag things out - he is more of a sulker. Argh. :(

Plum - I bought a cake from a lady who ran a cake business for DD's birthday party. I was completely shocked at the price, and she was making a good living I think so people are definitely prepared to pay for good cakes. This year, I decided to be more organised and order one from a supermarket, but to be honest they were not much cheaper and no where near as nice.

Am going to struggle with cleaning chores today because of the trip out to change DH's boots. He clearly hasn't got the hang of internet ordering. He ordered half a size smaller instead of half a size bigger (European sizes( and guess what - they are too small!!! That said, I am hoping that my lovely timberland boots are going to come today and they had better fit or I will be most unhappy.

What is everyone up to today?

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 07/12/2010 09:16

Morning everyone :)

DH came out of his sulk and apologised for being a moody git, so that's all fine :)

I was supposed to have a glucose tolerance test at the hospital today, but I have cancelled because I feel so poorly. DS is worse today as well, so far we are both tucked up in my bed and I think we will stay here for a while. DH is working late tonight which is typical Sod's Law when I am feeling so crappy.

LIST
Have cold
Keep warm
Try and persuade DS to eat and drink something
Make bolognese later if I feel up to it
Wish I temporarily wasn't pregnant so that I could have some Lemsip!

Plum - how much do you charge? For example I paid over £300 for my wedding cake, and had several quotes that were significantly higher than that.

minimammoth · 07/12/2010 09:17

Morning all. Still about -6 out, I have to stay home today, at least morning, waiting a delivery for DH. So no doubt I will spend the morning trying not to go into the office, (stares fixedly at madam PLUM)However I do not have a VAT return to do, send you vibes for that one Plum.

Hoping clip frames arrive today so that I can get on with framing. That will distract me for a bit.

Hello all. JKS - read your other post. It's a tough one, but it's a good thought about whether they have unpacked etc. It is incredible what difference even a sofa and chair make to the sound resonating... we had no curtains at our place, never noticed the echo until we removed the furniture... I am sure it will settle down. Also, it is amazing what you can learn to blank out/ignore. We have gone from a completely silent location to living on a main road. I was quite worried about the noise levels, but after just a couple of weeks I hardly notice it now. Having the windows shut and rarely venturing out helps of course!!

DD is at forest school today - despite the fact that it is still minus 5 here, the teachers did not postpone it. I know it's good not to be dictated to by the weather but MINUS FIVE!!!!! FGS, they are only in Reception! Hope she is ok. She had so many clothes on today.. bit like the michelin man!

Just seen DS (6) dressed as a mouse for the school play, sooooooo sweet. A couple of tears in the corner of my eye

JKS - you are pregnant, so there is potential for a bit of crazy-ladyness in there but it is not unjustified Grin

I burst into tears last night because DH hadn't cleaned the kitchen sink out after he did the clearing up. Hmm And yes I did apologise Grin

Feeling a bit more human, have had to take some paracetamol though. So wish I could just have a lemsip and go to bed.
DS is seeming a bit better, which is good - but also bad because he is now demanding to be entertained rather than just snuggle up on my lap. :)

JustKeepSparkling · 07/12/2010 13:52

Ali - i fantasise about Day Nurse when i have a cold & am pg/bf, it's great stuff!
I will see what DH think nest time he's here in the evening & there is noise, right now i can't hear anything, maybe it's just the Dad who is a noisy bugger so-and-so :)
And it doesn't matter really if i hear them, though it makes me aware they can hear us.
