Alice the last two online shops I've done I've put the same list through waitrose and asda and both times waitrose has been cheaper Shock The first time I saved £14 Shock Shock and the second the actual groceries were £2.30 more in Waitrose but because they do free delivery it still ended up cheaper. Does depend what you buy though, think ASDA is still cheaper for cleaning stuff/nappies/tins etc.

Set the trainset up yesterday and promised dc I'd leave it up for today, was regretting it last night because it does actually cover the whole floor downstairs but reaped the benefits this morning when the dc got up and came downstairs to play leaving me in bed Grin.

Wasting had any joy looking at houses?

TimeWasting · 22/01/2011 11:38

I think we're going to stick here for a while. Til the rent goes up anyway.
If we can get a Warmfront grant it might be bearable at this price. Grin

Anonymousbird · 22/01/2011 12:35

Morning ladies.

No list today.

Wasting - are the windows really bad? Fingers crossed no more massively cold spells and downhill all the way to spring .

I've only used Asda to get baby things from when we lived a bit nearer to it. I do remember them being seriously cheap for bulk items and cupboard type stuff..... It's miles away now though, no idea where my nearest one is.

DH gone out to get head kicked in play rugby against the team who have played 11, won 11 this season, so I suspect DH's team of pick'n'mix allsorts may get their arses whipped. As long as he doesn't get hurt, that's all I care about! Could be "trouble" after the game though. Apparently the coach decided to hire a mini bus this time rather than them all make their own way which I suspect means, pub crawl on the way home.

Hmm
TimeWasting · 22/01/2011 13:58

Anon, we've got basically no ventilation or insulation and single-glazed windows at the north-facing front of the house.
The windows run with condensation and my lovely curtains in the living room are mouldy as they sit on the window sill and soak it all up.

Hope your DH come home in one piece!

  • shower and dress done
  • laundry - sort loads done, put a load on done
  • lunch done
  • walk/trike? later
  • feed birds ditto
  • tidy garden a bit? ditto

Anonymousbird · 22/01/2011 17:20

Wasting - my windows were like that when we moved into our cottage. At vast expense Hmm the first major job we did was to start to replace. Over 5 years we replaced the lot, the last ones early last year.... I have every sympathy, it's grim dealing with the cold/drafts/damp etc etc... our windows would run like rivers, the bedrooms were freezing (DS was 1, DD was newborn) the heating couldn't combat it at all.

Not heard from DH - assume he is on the "party bus" - I am sure if he was at A&E or in a terrible state that his mate would have called by now.... Game finished over an hour ago!

If DC and I are very lucky, we might get invited along for a post match drink and a packet of crisps. I fancy getting out of the house!!

TimeWasting · 22/01/2011 17:27

I'm sure the DC will learn some tasteful songs at least. Grin

Those strips are good JKS, but these curtains I got are basically against the windows, it's a right pain. Would not have had them taken up if I'd realised.

  • shower and dress done
  • laundry - sort loads done, put a load on done
  • lunch done
  • walk/trike? later no forgot what time it gets dark Hmm

minimammoth · 22/01/2011 17:32

I am returned. Just marking place, so will read throught and catch up tomorrow. HAvea good evening

Anonymousbird · 22/01/2011 17:50

Spoke too soon Angry:

  1. DH has "f**ked" his knee (his choice word, but I get the general gist)
  2. They are going to be back at our local too late for DC and I to join them, as they are only just starting the pub crawl (from 35 miles away, it could take some time..) And, seeing as our local is the last stop on said pub crawl, I think DC and I are best off out of it frankly. Hmm

DH said, well, darling, it could have been worse, some other guy on the team split his head right open.

Great. So, his injury is marginally less bad (according to DH) than some other bloke, but at least that bloke can walk!! He might only need a couple of hundred stitches, DH can't bloody move!

Oh, not to forget, this is the same knee that the Surgeon told him in October he needed a procedure on, DH chose to ignore decline the kind offer. Might be back to the drawing board now!

Grrrrrrr. MEN! Rugby! what on earth is he doing (I think I've been here before) He is nearly 37 FFS!!!!! His best mate he plays with is nearly 47. His wife is frankly beside herself!

And, they lost. Not surprising as 2 out of 15 were stretchered off, and they had no subs!

Anonymousbird · 22/01/2011 17:51

Oh sorry, Hello Mini, welcome back!

Just thought - good news though, his mate is driving, so hopefully won't hang around too long at the local, DH needs a lift home so will have to go with him... god knows what I will be greeted with!

minimammoth · 22/01/2011 18:58

Anon. Bdy men and their b*y testosterone.
very cold wine seems a very good idea. Here have an olive, pour a nice big glass and sod 'em. Except we end up being the ones propping up. Grr

Morning.
DH is actually quite badly hurt. Can barely walk and is in a lot of pain. Don't know how he is going to get to work etc in the next few days. Needs to take it easy today (but has gone off to watch DS's rugby match - at least he got a lift and is not driving AND has another responsible adult there!) He is so cross with himself (unfortunately, he doesn't need me reminding him that it was only a matter of time.............. so I've not reminded him, he worked it out for himself!)

Mini list:

  • Wrap presents for DD to take to party
  • reading with DD
  • DD to party with another mum
  • Housework/straighten up
  • Pick up DD and one other from party
  • Go to house to measure window position
  • Walk dog (that'll be me today then!)
  • Print final photos for MIL's birthday
  • DS reading
  • Roast dinner (Mmmmmm, "it's chicken tonight, la la la")
  • Uniform etc for tomorrow and the week ahead
JustKeepSwimming · 23/01/2011 11:38

Anonymousbird · 23/01/2011 12:14

no, not been to doc, but already under care of a surgeon who strongly recommended the cartilage repair procedure late last year. It's exactly the same injury, either exacerbated due to the fall or, as DH thinks, possibly worsened. May be no getting round it now. He will phone surgeon tomorrow for advice I suspect.

He is the worst patient for anything as he is physically incapable of sitting still for more than 5 minutes, he never rests unless he is absolutely knocked out by something, and if he has to stay home/get treatment/get an operation he will be absolutely unbearable!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh well. We are where we are.

  • Wrap presents for DD to take to party DONE

Small fanfair please, have just been down and hung the pics. getting a bit nervous now as people will SEE them. gulp.

AliceandtheGinormousBaps · 23/01/2011 13:04

Wink Grin

Bloody men! Mine is hungover today Hmm

Asda delivery was only for nappies, wipes, tins, multipack of coke etc, and got it delivered because it was only £3, saves us the hassle of getting there and dragging the kids along. We used to shop at Waitrose before we had DD, then went to Tesco to save money, hated Tesco and found it cost the same at Waitrose and Boots (for nappies and wipes)

Mini list

Clean bathroom
Hoover upstairs
Put clothes away

We will need a new thread very soon....

OP posts:
Anonymousbird · 23/01/2011 13:27

Spring in our step???? Spring cleaning? Spring into action? Perhaps a bit too obvious, need something a bit more subtle perhaps...

What was Freaki's phrase?

DH is going to ring the consultant - even he has accepted that action is required! He now starts telling me all these horror stories about people who are practically crippled by rugby, who he knows, who can never run/play squash/ride a bike ever again.. my face falls, mouth gaping wide open in horror, I mean, how does he not get the message??? All he could say was, if I have the operation, I won't be playing rugby for a while. Errr, no, darling, you won't (thank god!) !!!!

I don't know how he will get to work tomorrow, I can drop him at the station, but he seriously can hardly walk and he has 15 minutes at the other end of the train, not really do-able by bus/tube. Taxi I suppose, perhaps...
