I have cake anxiety.

The cake is cooked. Smells lovely, looks fine but am wondering if it is a bit thin. I cooked 2x9 inch tins and the two cakes are each only about 2cm deep. But then I suppose they will go on top of each other and look better.

Humph I may have to cook another .... arrrrgh.
Am cream crackered.

JustKeepSwimming · 26/07/2010 21:50

HMHB - personally i'm a fan of slightly shorter cakes - easier to eat

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 26/07/2010 22:02

HMHB that will be fine - remember that you'll have something in the middle and then icing on top which bulks it a bit.

HalfMumHalfBiscuit · 26/07/2010 22:56

JKS/Ali - good plan. A shorter cake it is. DH assures me once there is tonnes of butter icing in it and on it, it will look just fine .

Bake cake / fairy cakes done
Wrap DS's presents (if they arrive! ) - one has arrived!
Wrap pass the parcel presents

wasting Your cleaner idea seems to be working, I was thinking I may put the jobs I hate, like cleaning skirtings, in my diary. My thinking is if I've made a date with them I will do it

My dishwasher stopped working on saturday and the engineer can't come until thursday As you can properly tell I HATE washing up!!!! Although yesterday I discovered if I leave long enough (no plates etc to use) DH will do it. Will be trying that again today

Right, next I will sort out the kitchen, but NO washing up!!

JustKeepSwimming · 27/07/2010 13:52

Afternoon!

Bit of a disaster, DS is not up to the walk to town, he was mardy before we'd even got there today. Buggy it is! So we had to catch the bus back which was exciting. We've not caught one home since we moved here last October.

Alice, I thin you'll have to hurry up you know. It's just tooooo exciting.

I hate washing up. The other house we nearly moved into last year was big, with no garden and move expensive, but the kitchen was lovely and had a dishwasher. Not a good enough reason, but what a difference it would have made!

Yes, the cleaner did very well.
She's coming back in a few mins or the floors will never get done.
I think if I can get it done at the beginning of the week, then I don't have to worry about it for the rest of the week.

Oh Alice I was all excited! Well done with the pies, I must do some cooking to freeze for DS incase I suddenly can't go near the kitchen.

HMHB - glad the preparations are going well

Rainbow - nightmare about the dishwasher!

Wasting - you can get table-top dishwashers which I think are about 1/3 of full size. We looked at one for our house before this one as we didn't have room for even a half-width one but then we decided to move so we didn't bother.

Alicetheinvisible · 27/07/2010 16:46

Ali i did that this time, but really was fine this time. I hated the fridge, but i could cook and go into the kitchen if i had to. When pg with DD the thought of the kitchen would make me cry!

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 27/07/2010 16:58

Alice - I was the same with DS. I barely ate anything for about 2 weeks and I just couldn't go near the kitchen, it was awful. DH did all the cooking, and I mean all, until I was about 13 weeks.
That can't happen this time, DH starts his new job in a fortnight and he'll be working at home much less than he does at the moment, so I have to be able to feed DS somehow!
I'm hoping I'll be alright, by this stage last time I already felt awful and was throwing up. I had a bit of a moment before lunch but once I'd eaten I was ok.
