RainbowDrops · 28/07/2010 21:00

I must of missed the AIBU thread, FWIW I love this thread and lists!! I actually now have a daily routine that is stuck to most days, my home is clean and tidy but not perfect and most importantly I have more time to spend with my DC as I am no longer wandering around aimlessly wondering what to do first, I just look at my list and do it(most days)!!

Had a lovely time at the park and picked plenty of blackberries, DD took her bike but she didn't ride it at all, she just pushed it along wearing her helmet

JKS That's more than a year!!

Well done HMMB sounds like a success to me

Did I miss that Freaky is on holiday?

somethinganything · 28/07/2010 21:32

OK, this is my first crack at this so feel free to tell me if it's not on the right lines or I'm making schoolgirl errors by doing things at night that I should be doing in the morning or viceversa.

  • wash/sterilise bottles, prepare feeds for next 24hrs
  • water plants
  • load dishwasher, wipe surfaces
  • repack changing bag
  • put washload on timer for morning

Tomorrow am:

  • DDs up/fed/dressed
  • post-breakfast clean-up
  • empty dishwasher
  • bins out
  • washing hung up
  • arrange playdate for DD
  • check emails
  • call Mother!
  • take DDs out to park
  • DD2 bottle
  • lunch for me & DD then clear away

tomorrow PM:

  • work on article while kids nap
  • DD2 bottle
  • make casserole for dinner
  • arrange to pick up babycarrier from friend
  • do some kind of activity with DDs
  • more work on article if DM can entertain DDs for an hour

tomorrow evening:

  • hang up wet washing
  • fold up and tidy away dry washing
  • wash/sterilise bottles, prepare feeds for next 24hrs
  • water plants
  • load dishwasher, wipe surfaces

  • write holiday packing list & start packing!

Blimey, bit frightening when you write it all down. And there's only one DONE up there for now I'd better get going... Will be checking in tomorrow. Good luck with all your chores ladies

HalfMumHalfBiscuit · 28/07/2010 22:13

JKS - PMSL at Wii fit.

Thanks Rainbow - glad to hear that the lists are helping too.

something - don't worry. We all have our own methods. I for example don't even appear to have a list so you appear to be much more organised !

somethinganything · 28/07/2010 22:24

TAKE 2, I've missed a few things off and I really want to make sure everything's there so that I can plan properly. I always underestimate what there is and how long it will take so here's hoping this list-writing biz will make me into a bit more of a realist.

Mind if I lurk for a while? I have 3 dc's (ds 11, dd1 7 and dd2 26 weeks). I am chronically disorganised and the house is a tip and no one ever knows where anything is. It's so bad that my older dc's play 'Hunt the boxers/knickers in the mornings in the washing mountain'. Although it is clean washing

It does get me down though and I don't know why I never get anywhere as I always seem busy. My home is not how I wish it was as there's nothing welcoming about clutter and a mess. If I'm feeling bad I sometimes write a list of what I have actually done that day so I know where my time has gone. I would love to actually feel like I'm getting somewhere with my home rather than treading clutter water!

The thought of actually doing a list in advance is a bit daunting though as if I write down everything I actually have to do I don't think I will ever get out of bed

You all seem to get such a lot done so if I lurk I may be inspired by your organisation!

Sorry for the essay

SweetGrapes · 29/07/2010 08:37

Alicetheinvisible · 29/07/2010 08:41

Welcome LittleMiss

When things are a bit much, we sometimes set a timer and do just 15mins, or list 3 things that need doing. Not big jobs like 1) sort out laudry pile, 2) clean car, 3) hoover whole house because they are huge jobs and if you can do all that then you don't need the slatterns.
What you need to do is have a short list like 1)Empty dishwasher, 2)Reload dishwasher, 3)wipe down kitchen sides. Small jobs that make a huge difference iyswim?
Can your older dc's help at all? Get them a basket/bag each and get them to go through the washing pile finding all their own clothes sort of thing?

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 29/07/2010 08:49

JKS I use ours but DH has been crap with it for aaages. Occasionally the little animation asks me if I've seen DH and whether I can remind him to 'pop by', hysterical!

Morning LittleMiss Lurk away. The whole point of this thread is to concentrate on the basics first and then worry about other things. So everyone dressed in clean clothes, and eating meals off clean plates and then go from there.

something - good luck with your first list!

Alice - glad the kitchen is going well

Plum - yay for doing the exercise!

HMHB - that sounds like a fab party

Managed to get DS down at 8pm last night, but he woke at 11pm just as I had gone to sleep - he was really thirsty. He had some water and was in with us for about half an hour but then back in his cot and slept until nearly 8 this morning so that is a much better night!

I still don't feel sick Is it daft that I'm now worrying that something is wrong?

This list will do for now, will add more later

TO DO
Turn off Peppa Pig and have breakfast
Fold washing
Hoover round downstairs
Unload dishwasher
Clear up breakfast and tidy kitchen
HAve a shower and get dressed
DH out to look at cars
Dust upstairs and downstairs
Change the cot bedding
Put on a wash
Dry nappies - on the line maybe?
Friends coming over for park and a cuppa
Lunch

LittleMisscantbewrong · 29/07/2010 08:49

Thanks Alice - misread at first and thought you meant sorting the laundry pile wasn't a big job! After writing my post I made a cup of tea and wrote down my list for today of what I had planned to do anyway and it's quite a lot just to keep up. If I try to do one extra thing I will be pleased.

My older dc's are good and they do help. I just think I've been a bad example to them with organisation/tidiness. My dh is wonderful but he works long hours and has been doing weekends too so I've never had time to catch up.

Just saw that you're pg - how exciting!

PlumBumMum · 29/07/2010 08:55

Just came on quickly to say Go SOMETHING, Good luck

LittleMiss everyone on this thread will tell washing is my big bug bear, I ALWAYS have a CLEAN mountain

LittleMiss, welcome, I could have written your post when I first joined this thread but I have finally reached the endof my Clothing Mountain Range. Jusy start slowly and bit by bit it gets done. If you have piles of washing like I had . Put them into black bags, and then start, it doesnt seem so bad when they are out of sight

Can someone tell this baby to get out from under my ribs? It is the wrong direction!!!

Ali yes a lack of sickness may mean there is something wrong, but much more likely that you have been lucky so far and it will hit you in a week or two I found it much better this time, a lot to do with being too busy to think about it i am sure.

Doing ok this morning. Not going anywhere as waiting on plumber bloke (he is a plumber and fitter, so not sure what to call him) Use the time to do some other jobs (can't do much addmittedly due to house still being topsy turvy)

Just drinking some orange squash and double spatone.

ALI, On DS I flew through the pregnancy, DD1 I was sick from conception [shocked], DD2 and DD3, had no problems either. It really just depends on each baby

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 29/07/2010 11:46

CC/Alice thank you - I know I'm being silly really, I just hate these early weeks. I'm trying to take advantage of feeling well and do as much with DS as possible, although going on the roundabout at the park today made me feel decidedly queasy!

Sweetgrapes - I like the idea of printing off your list, may copy you on that one

Friend's DD has been being sick all morning so they didn't come over, so it was just DS and I for the park.

Alicetheinvisible · 29/07/2010 12:03

Ali you are not being silly. With DD i was not on MN, hardly knew anyone with a baby (older friends had children) and it never occurred to me there could be a problem and what it would mean if there was. With this one, i have more mum friends, know people firsthand who have had problems and i have MN where you generally see more problems than you would in RL. It freaked me out a bit tbh, and i got DH to scan me at 10weeks because i was so paranoid, despite there never being any reason for there to be a problem. I hope that makes you feel a bit better
