JKS - not appreciably no! I have the odd day where I feel more awake and get lots done, like yesterday, but then it's generally followed by me feeling absolutely wiped out the next day - like today! I slept really well last night at my Mum and Dad's, I think it is knowing that they will fix any disasters that means I really switch off - even if DS is poorly or anything, they are Drs so can fix that too! I'm still exhausted though and find I have to plan my week to make sure there isn't too much going on all at once else I just flake out.

Hello mini - hope the spider hadn't re-incarnated!

DONE
Take dinner out of the freezer
Unpacking started
DS nap - doing
Feet up with cup of tea and cake - doing

TO DO
A load of laundry
Dinner
Clearing up
More washing?
DS bath and bed

Shit, well, that's knocked the stuffing out of me.
My neighbour has killed himself. He was 85. A kinder and more caring and interesting man you could not meet.

I am so sad for him and his family.
And I am just sad Sad oh so sad. I saw him walking every day, up to even just a week or so ago. And now he has gone. One of life's gems, he really was.

Poor guy. May he rest in peace.
Sorry, I'm pretty upset. Feel flat and confused, suicide? For heavens sake, he must have been in an awful place? Grief. I'm posting in the wrong place really.

Oh Golly, it puts things into perspective a bit.

JustKeepSwimming · 16/09/2010 17:38

Anon :( that is so sad for him to actually kill himself, maybe he'd got a diagnosis of illness that he felt he didn't want to/couldn't cope with? who knows, i hope his family are ok :(

JKS that is the long and the short of it.

He was admitted last week to hospital, and I gather that he wasn't terminal or anything, but had some condition that was going to require regular stays in and some quite invasive procedures - catheters etc.

And we can only think that he just couldn't face being so dependent on others, not being in his own home full time and the "indignity" as he might have seen it of having colostomy etc etc. I don't know all the details, but we are very shocked. My other neighbour and I actually both sobbed in each other's arms in the school playground this afternoon. Heartbreaking. We've told all our DC's that he died in his sleep. They are all so young, can't start broaching these complicated subjects with the little ones. They don't need to know any more than that they won't be seeing him around any more. He was old, so it makes sense that he might have died naturally.

He was wonderful, always happy to see the children, let them "trick or treat", sing carols or whatever. Just utterly charming and what a life he had!!!!

Sorry, will stop now. Life goes on.

Morning ladies, and thank you for being so understanding.

Mini well done. I have a load of damsons to pick - jam or chutney??? MIL has even donated the family jam making pot to me, so I really must have a go...

Looking forward to our first weekend at home in 8 weeks, yes, 8 weeks. All been fun, but has been a huge amount of packing, unpacking, washing, ironing, getting it all in the car, etc etc.... Lovely to be at home sometimes and not doing much.

Assuming DH's flight gets in on time, maybe take DC to the pub early evening for a juice... Smile It is the weekend after all! Our local's Landlord is Jamie Oliver's Dad so no doubt Trevor will have the bunting up as usual on the birth of a grandchild - not sure he will stretch to "drinks on the house all round" though, but worth a try!!!

Hey ho. Must get on... Have a good day ladies.
