When does everyone put their Christmas tree up

I know.. we're in October. I love how cozy it makes the house this time of year and I'm considering early November. When does everyone put their tree and decorations up and do you have a certain date yearly or just when you feel like it?

We shall wait until week before Xmas with the tree and decorations but am going to put the decorative lights out in the garden tomorrow.

Thanks - your post reminded me to put in my order for my tree delivery! I used to insist on only putting the tree up a few days before Christmas, as I always leave it up until Twelfth Night. This time I've ordered for it to arrive 16 Dec, but I probably won't put it up until later that week, when hopefully DS will be home from uni to help me.

mumonthehill · 10/10/2024 17:13

We always have a real tree so mid December at the earliest. I put lights up outside however the first weekend of December.

AlisonWonderbra · 10/10/2024 17:13

Never before 1st December

Whatineed · 10/10/2024 17:16

Tree one or two weeks before Christmas. Lights up for the first advent Sunday.

marshmallowfinder · 10/10/2024 17:20

Beginning of December. Certainly not in November. Hmm

TwattyMcFuckFace · 10/10/2024 17:20

Nearest weekend to 1st December, so sometimes that means end of November.

4offPlease · 10/10/2024 17:21

First weekend in December

TeenToTwenties · 10/10/2024 17:22

Last day of term.
Can't imagine having it up for 2 months!!

Strawberrycheesecake7 · 10/10/2024 17:23

I always aim to put it up on December 1st but rarely get round to it on the actual day, usually the weekend after.

Cattenberg · 10/10/2024 17:24

A weekend in mid-December. For me, Christmas stops being special if it goes on for months.

First weekend in December

Me too. It's sometimes a week or more before I get around to decorating it, but I buy the tree then & put it in the tree holder with plenty of water.

Arran2024 · 10/10/2024 17:27

First Sat in December

WonderingWanda · 10/10/2024 17:27

First weekend of December, I keep it up till after NYE as well.

LindorDoubleChoc · 10/10/2024 17:28

On or close to 15th December.

TheChosenTwo · 10/10/2024 17:29

The weekend that falls a week-10 days before Christmas and it all comes down again on Boxing Day because we go on holiday the next day.
We get a real tree and don’t want to get it too early plus I hate the additional clutter about the house, its fine for 10 days but it would get on my tits if it was up for longer!

ILoveAnnaQuay · 10/10/2024 17:30

Usually the Sunday before Christmas Day. But if Christmas Day is Monday or Tuesday then the weekend before that. Never more than 10 days beforehand - it wouldn't feel right.

Snugglemonkey · 10/10/2024 17:31

First weekend in December. Will be 1st this year.

TripleCarber · 10/10/2024 17:31

Will be putting ours up on the 30th November, because I like it being up ready for the 1st December when the advent calendars come out etc.
we do take ours down earlier than some though, dh birthday is the 2nd january and he really prefers it to be down before his birthday (as that’s what his family did when he was a kid to seperate Christmas from his birthday)

mitogoshigg · 10/10/2024 17:32

December, date varies depending on what else we are doing. Usually around 16th

pizzaHeart · 10/10/2024 17:32

It could be any day between 7th and 22nd of December depending on other things as usually we go to a farm to get a real tree.

ZanzibarIsland · 10/10/2024 17:34

I put it up beginning of December and take down from 1st Jan onwards and try and get all decorations in the loft by the 6th

Violinist64 · 10/10/2024 17:34

My birthday is on the 6th December, so usually the weekend after that. If l had my way, it would be a week after that, but DH prefers the earlier date. November - no thank you.

shellyleppard · 10/10/2024 17:35

First weekend in December then all decorations away before new year eve. House has a really good clean too

whiteroseredrose · 10/10/2024 17:37

The nearest weekend to 12th December.

That was when PIL used to come to help choose the tree and then decorate.
