Do my walls and carpet clash?

I spent a fortune on getting my walls painted and carpet on the stairs and now I think it clashes. The walls are pink/purple and the stairs is dark grey. Any ideas anyone?

Grey is the most neutral colour I can imagine so hard to see how it could clash with anything.

Maybe just the wall colour is rank? I loved the colour of the walls until the carpets went down though ... maybe I'm overthinking it

I think the wall colour is nice. I’d paint the white moulding or bit of stairs or whatever that is pink too, that’s where the main contrast is happening.

It does clash a little. Looks like you need a much colder purple tone on the wall

It's not quite right but I can see why you thought it would go together! We're redecorating at the moment and I struggle so much with these decisions.

That's probably a size issue. When a photo is too big I screenshot it to reduce its size.

I think it would have looked better with a more silvery grey, but I think the white molding is the biggest issue and like PP said above painting that should help.

Thanks everyone. I guess I should change the mouldings. I'm so disappointed. I don't even like the carpet. Maybe I should just take it up and do another colour carpet?

Taking up a new carpet? Are you made of money??
It would be cheaper to repaint the walls. I really like colour on walls usually but with that carpet I’d go for white walls as it will look more nordic classic.

Oh good you said it first. Yeah the carpet is grim mate. Grey could work but a lighter and matte, that velvety texture is SO noisy. Still like the wall colour it’s pretty :)

Yes you're right. But I like the walls and I don't think I like the carpet. The whole thing has been a brain ache for me

For me the wall colour reminds me of my bedroom when I was 12. 😅

Do you have a photos of what sort of vibe you were going for? Like moodboardy inspiration photos of anything you’ve seen that you like?

Just in the photos you posted there are like nine shades of grey, and I assume it changes every time someone steps on it. It will never look cohesive.
