Bright coloured houses

I love colourful houses/ decor.

I spend a lot of time on Instagram looking for inspiration, and there are some amazing houses out there.

Anyone here a fan of the bold, colourful and eclectic?

Apologies, I've only just caught up with this thread again 🙄

The rug is from irugs - I know others have had issues with the fact these come folded from the US, but ours quickly flattened out (we've had it about 15 months now and it's holding up well considering it's not wool like our other rugs!), although I would say it's not quite as vibrant IRL 😉

Loving everyone's bright and colourful homes 😀

@ColouringPencils The colour of the orange wall behind my bed is Valspar Flamboyant Flamingo. It's looks more orange in the photo than in real life. It's more of a coral.

@ColouringPencils the colour is Arsenic by F&B. It looks more greeny in some lighrs and blueish in others.

I love it so much I have painted a few bits of furniture in it too as had wood paint from my daughters bedroom door to use up 💙💚

DaveTheCat is that the same colour of paint (arsenic) in all 3 photos? The cabinet of drinks glasses, the chest of drawers and part of your DC's bedroom wall? Amazing how different it looks in different lights!

@DappledThingscould you do a wall of the hall/stairs in a proper dark grey? I saw one once with I think railings on one wall and loads of pictures going up it, it was just the right side of moody and interesting without clashing with the other rooms.
Still trying to persuade my husband on ours 😂

Any renters with house inspo pics? I love bright jewel colours, have for years, but struggle to get the look I want in a rented house where every wall is magnolia.

I’m with you! I Try to get bright furniture / accessories. But it’s hard as you’ll never know where you are next so what will work and what won’t. It’s also hard with things like curtains. So expensive. And invariably won’t fit the next one. My last rental was at least 25 shades of magnolia in one room. Where the landlord had toshed it up so many times.

What inspiration this thread is! I see so few colourful rooms in my day to day life that I sometimes feel my own taste is going peculiar as I love colour and I'm always going towards orange and yellow for things at the moment. Some of these photos are wonderful!

Yes I love rich and dark colours. I love mixing styles too. Really dislike too much coordination.

I don’t have any photos but I did a lot of decals on the walls in my last rental. They don’t damage the walls when they come off. So on one wall I had a massive tree with birds, on another a whole load of colourful butterflies etc. You can now get proper “peel & stick” wallpapers which apparently don’t damage the wall and can be easily removed for rentals as well.

@ LemonViolet ...yep, me, lol! I've been trying to choose fabric for bedroom 2 curtains and keep finding more potential fabrics and ordering samples, till I end up with decision paralysis 😉 Then (and they've not all arrived yet!), this morning realisation dawned that I have the perfect curtains already 😂

Would you mind sharing where your purple/green paisley fabric sample on the right hand side is from please?

I was all set to say no because I have terrible eyesight, and I need light coloured rooms to reflect the light, but I love your images @DavetheCat2001 because they are bright, and more importantly the rooms are very light.

I really dislike dark decor and dark rooms, especially this with low natural light because I struggle to see well, and dark colours make rooms feel claustrophobic and small to me.

I found these tiles when I was mooching in Homebase earlier. Sadly not doing any bathrooms any time soon…..but I did wonder if I could justify the spend on them for a splashback in our “temp” kitchen! (will be a few years before we can remodel it).

I have this wallpaper for our new downstairs toilet.. it's ridiculously extravagant, but i love it so much! 😍

@DavetheCat2001 - my mum and stepdad definitely!

They love or loved bright colours and ask their rooms are in various bright colours. Looks nice but not really my taste.

I’m loving some of the colour combos here.

I went to Giverny to Monet’s house at 17 and then in my early 30s. He had a great way with colours and how different ones in rooms can change the mood. Would love a delft tiled kitchen like his!

I created a home office from a tiny bedroom, it’s a work in progress, but I love sitting at my desk looking at my calm, pretty work space. It’s more girly than the rest of my home. I like light & bright spaces, I’m in Sydney so it suits my style, environment etc.

I've watched this thread to come back for ideas from all your lovely homes, theyre all beautiful. I've always went for safe colours but I'm increasingly wanting to inject more colour, furniture and walls, not just one feature wall.

@WhereIsMyGlasses - I should try to get photos of my mum’s house. The living room is two contrasting coloured walls with leather sofas. The front drawing room is more plain but has a blue Chesterfield and bright cushions and rug. Hall different coloured walls. Etc.

My house is shamefully quite plain and a bit grey but I’d like to inject colour into it. I have no idea where to start though!

For coloured cushion covers and rugs these were from IKEA just before Xmas last year as gift from SIL and DB.
