Where on earth do you buy a sofa??

I'm 28 and I've had a hand me down sofa since I was 20, my dad gave it to me when I moved out. It's still going on but the pillows are getting thin and I feel like I can feel the frame when I sit on it.

But I have no idea where is a good place for a new sofa or how much to budget? I've heard people say DFS is great and others say they're crap quality. I can't spend a fortune but I also don't wanna to spend too little and get something crap since that's just a waste of money. Where do I look??

I like sofa workshop if you have one near you?

Happymum12345 · 24/10/2021 20:24

IKEA. Had mine for years and very comfortable.

DentalWorries · 24/10/2021 20:26

We have a DFS corner sofa that we’re very happy with. We’ve had it for 3 years now and it’s in perfect condition. We got ours on interest free credit so it works out about £25 a month or obviously you can also pay in full

Heartbeats0708 · 24/10/2021 20:26

IKEA here too (same story as you OP)
I didn't spend a fortune but a step or two up from the most budget ones and I love my sofa!

GrouchyKiwi · 24/10/2021 20:29

I got two lovely sofas on sale from Sofas and Stuff online.

womaninatightspot · 24/10/2021 20:29

Ikea or currently mines from sofology. If you go online you can get returns/ seconds for half the price delivered. I have kids/ dog/ cat so not bothered about perfection.

IKEA

TrussOnABus · 24/10/2021 21:02

What’s your budget OP?

IKEA ones are great

If you’ve got a bit extra to spend Made.com do a really beautiful range!

Stripyhoglets1 · 24/10/2021 22:03

Ikea

An other vote for IKEA!

Although I also have a lovely leather sofa from Next... but that was ££££!

GellerYeller · 24/10/2021 22:46

Previously used Sofa Sofa and was happy (pre-destructive toddlers!) and had a nearly new leather two seater from Next bought from friends, that was really good quality. Just replaced one from DFS, again, hard wearing and sturdy. We have a Made.com two seater. Their customer service wasn't the best. Ordered in a sale which ended a few hours later, promised it was in stock, a new sale started the next day and it went to 12 weeks delivery. Impossible to get hold of anyone to sort it out. Friend had a similar experience I later found out!

Really happy with loaf clever velvet - everything wipes off, lovely to sit on and super comfy

mrsbyers · 24/10/2021 23:06

We’ve just got new ones from IKEA and love them

Freeekedout · 24/10/2021 23:18

Wow, so much love for ikea sofas! Can I jump on and ask which ones you have that you would recommend?

CovidCorvid · 24/10/2021 23:20

Homesense if you can find something you like. Obviously hit and miss as to whether they’ll have something which suits. But I got one for £250 the other week and the quality is better than my CSL 2.5k sofa.

Yahyahs22 · 24/10/2021 23:21

Just got some sofas from dfs after having hand me downs for my whole adult life. Absolutely love them and they're fantastic quality

beautifullymad · 24/10/2021 23:25

Sofa sofa in wales. Brilliant quality, last for decades and are half the price as standard!

Fozzleyplum · 24/10/2021 23:26

If you don't want to spend too much, there are charity shops which sell excellent 2nd hand sofas very cheaply. Also ebay - I love Halo leather sofas, and bought a huge, very comfortable one for my teenagers' den from ebay for a fraction of the new price.

Tibtab · 24/10/2021 23:28

We got ours from Sofology, we’re happy with the quality. Really depends on your budget.

grannyjacob · 24/10/2021 23:30

Fc’bk Marketplace, Gumtree, etc. I’m constantly amazed at what people give away, are willing to swap, sell very cheaply.

DentalWorries · 24/10/2021 23:31

Oh yes we’ve had the long delivery problems with Made as well. I really don’t rate their customer service at all

IGotHam · 24/10/2021 23:32

IKEA every time. Had my IKEA sofa about 16 years and just replaced it with another. Great solid build quality and comfort

Frolicinameadow · 24/10/2021 23:38

DFS, SCS, Sofology, Housing Units, wayfair. Next, slf24.co.U.K, Fabb furniture, loaf,
There could also be local furniture makers to make you one specific to your needs and budget,
