Bathroom tiles done wrong. Opinions? *pics*

They've done my bathroom wrong, the feature herringbone wall looks as I hoped but the white tiles are supposed to have white grout. We have a separate en suite and WC that are half tiled, with the small metro tiles which have dark grout but I didn't want it on 3 fully tiled walls in my bathroom so went for larger tiles in here with white tiles.

My partner thinks it looks better this way and to leave it, I want to ask them to change it to what I asked for. Opinions?

White tiles white grout miles better. Lovely. Now I've seen the herringbone with white I prefer it. Just makes it look much brighter. Although the dark grout with the herringbone was OK.

There’s not much room for the bath screen to go from the wall to the edge of the bath, hope I’m wrong.

TilingTiles · 29/07/2021 12:02

It's re-grouted and looks worlds better. They've fitted the wrong shower screen though we had ordered a nice folding one to show of the wall behind itHmm

That looks so much better! Fabulous.

Oh yes that's one hell of an improvement, looks great.

Get them to change it.

ViceLikeBlip · 29/07/2021 14:19

I thought you were being ridiculous, but you were absolutely right- it looks much better x

StrongCoffeeAvalanche · 29/07/2021 15:01

Oh wow - the difference! Looks amazing!

TilingTiles · 29/07/2021 15:52

Thanks, it is better isn't it, I hated how the tiles looked on the corner but it hides that better too as you can see here. The floor still doesn't go though Blush the vanity looks more black than blue but will try and get towels to complement the colour of the herringbone tiles to tie it all together, and add plants!

I don’t mind the floor at all. It’s the backdrop so the rest shines. You did good.

Jeez Louise this company is really on the ball…..!
LaurieSchafferIsAllBitterNow · 29/07/2021 16:43

I think the three different tiles have tipped it all over the edge!

The white ones look loads better with the white grout and love the herringbone wall and panel

I know tiles on bathroom floors are practical but not for me. I envisage myself in 20 years with a broken hip flailing on the floor.

CookieDoughKid · 29/07/2021 17:23

Well done op!! The change is amazing, looks like something out of a magazine!!

5zeds · 29/07/2021 17:32

Three tiles in a bathroom is fairly standard surely? Confused

MaMelon · 29/07/2021 17:34

Love it! I knew it would look better with white grouting in the white tiles Smile

TilingTiles · 29/07/2021 19:31

Thanks! I'll upload another pic once it's cleaned and dressed!

Total coincidence - but we've literally just had our bathroom done, with the same midnight blue vanity basin - and have also gone for herringbone tiling in the shower (and behind the bath and vanity basin). No white tiles though Wink

We can't use the bath or shower until tomorrow though Sad as the sealant is still curing - but at least we have a working loo and bathroom sink beside our bedroom again and don't have to traipse upstairs Grin

We've even chosen the same tap Grin

This was the old bathroom....Shock (red runner was there temporarily as the tiles that were down had had to be lifted when we had our central heating replaced in October and we also put in a cheap "holding" radiator - old one had been up by the basin)

I've just read this whole thread start to finish, and feeling quite stressed!

The latest pics look great...good choice with the white grout. The wall and bath panel look gorgeous.

Please can we have some final pics when you're completely finished?
We're just coming to the end of some building work, and have just had our tiles delivered... will be playing around with the pattern very carefully before committing!!

Well done though...it looks lovely.

@prettybird your bathroom is so posh! I LOVE the dark walls. It's looks beautiful!

I would have said two is standard, one type for floor and one type for walls....

5zeds · 30/07/2021 13:08

@Bluesheep8 would you? Edging tiles, feature tiles etc are fairly standard unless it’s an institution or something. Perhaps it’s a European thing but one tile on the walls and flooring sounds unusually bland/restricted to me.

Must be my personal taste then, I've just got floor tiles and white metro tiles with light grey grout in my bathroom. No feature/edging tiles so yes, just 2 types of tiles.

TedGlenn · 30/07/2021 15:39

Amazing - what a transformation the white grout has made!

TilingTiles · 01/08/2021 20:09

It's clean! Still not dressed but I love it. It feels like a (mini) spa Smile I don't even mind the floor now really.
