Your Weight should be included in baggage allowance - Discuss!

I have heard it mentioned that the cost of air fairs has gone up due to the general overall increase in weight of passengers!

Now, I know that if you want to take an extra bag on board you pay a fortune for the additional fuel reqd etc, so do you think it fair that a skinny person gets the same baggage allowance as a larger one? Would you be prepared to get on the scales with your luggage if it meant the average sized people could carry more luggage?

I am NOT being Size-ist, just would like thoughts.

(I will not get into the argument of if you spill over one seat so someone cannot sit next to you, should you pay for 2)

Oh, sorry, AAA, missed your question.

No, it's nothing to do with MN, it was done for our local theatre and the other lady (and the two naked fellas) are members too.

triceratops · 16/06/2005 18:48

I would pay more for a bit more leg room. I never take much luggage but I can't help being tall.

almostanangel · 16/06/2005 19:52

Many years ago (before I was born!) my parents used to take a short plane ride from Protsmout the the Isle of Wight (about ut 6 miles), and they and their luggage was weighed before takeoff so the pilot could gauge his fuel requirements, and I have since done the same when flying in private planes with friends.
Why not charge by weight? If fewer people fly because they are embarrassed, can't survive without several suitcases or don't want to pay the fare, well, so much the better for the planet.
