Your Weight should be included in baggage allowance - Discuss!

I have heard it mentioned that the cost of air fairs has gone up due to the general overall increase in weight of passengers!

Now, I know that if you want to take an extra bag on board you pay a fortune for the additional fuel reqd etc, so do you think it fair that a skinny person gets the same baggage allowance as a larger one? Would you be prepared to get on the scales with your luggage if it meant the average sized people could carry more luggage?

I am NOT being Size-ist, just would like thoughts.

(I will not get into the argument of if you spill over one seat so someone cannot sit next to you, should you pay for 2)

yes everyone is allowed the same so that everybody is 'equal'!

I really don't see why people 'need' to take so much stuff with them they need to pay for extra baggage allowance. When I travelled to Zimbabwe - taking enough 'stuff' to last me the year - I didn't exceed the weight allowance!

why dont all us over size 16 just stay in doors then in case we upset someones holiday? we only sit around all day doing nothing exept eating we dont deserve a holiday as much as skinny people.

i was looking forward to my very much deserved holiday ...noe am paranoid am going to get carted off the plane!

Come on ladies - how many of us would be severaly annoyed if a tall, musuclar man (who was booked into the seat next to us) decided not to fly because he was going to have to pay extra for his 'muscle' weight

Provided his muscular butt didn't get in my way, that would be OK. For the right one, I may even sacrifice some of my luggage allowance for one of his biceps.

Lots, everything is heavier and uses more space, compare your clothees and shoes to those of your child and you will see the difference.

Chandra - I don't know about you - but when we travel with the boys there clothes and 'stuff' ALWAYS weigh more than ours (we take the small suitcase, they take the large) as we have to take MORE of them to make sure we don't run out!!!!

WigWamBam, as someone who has travelled loads and ranged from size 10 to size 20, a few inches of material makes a huge difference.

All the same, DD and I never take a case larger than medium size between us. Our total luggage for two of us for our last one week beach holiday weighed 9kg. I took a medium size half empty rucksack onto the plane and she took a pencil case, pad of paper, Top Trumps and a book so it's not like we overflow on hand luggage to make up for it.

My T-shirt weighs no more than my dh's. He's smaller, and his shoes weigh more than mine. Or perhaps you think that all large people dress in tents, complete with the poles to hold us up? . My clothes are bigger but they don't weigh that much more than an "average" adults do - not enough to make a difference to my luggage allowance.

you do realise that when i get on that plane and fit in the seat i will get chucked of for shouting YES!YES! YES and its all your fault

My mother has a cousin who is enormous and she has had no problems on flights.

I'm "enormous" too, Soupy - and I have never, ever had or caused a problem on a flight either. Don't worry, AAA, you'll be fine. And you know what to do if the person sitting next to you is annoying you ... just squeeze yourself over and spill onto his seat.
