What holidays are you planning for 2027?

I love the holiday section as so nice to read what everyone is doing. There was a lovely thread a couple of months ago about what everyone had been doing this year, really interesting to read.

So I wondered what does everyone have planned for 2027? And how much are you spending? What part are you most looking forward to? I could do with some inspiration especially and cheering up.

It’s just myself and DP nowadays holidaying. We have only ever had a holiday in the UK in self catering cottages or caravans. The last couple of years due to COL, responsibilities, pets, health problems, work and so much more we have not had a holiday. Just staycations from home with days out, still nice though.

My DP has quite a bit of annual leave still to use and can carry some over to next year. We will probably have the maximum of £1500-£2000 throughout the year for 2027 for holidays, all depends on our mortgage increase. I’m hoping for a week away, five days if it’s substantially cheaper, and a long weekend for that if possible. We have a wedding to attend next autumn depending on work commitments (DP works away a lot) where a couple of days annual leave will need to be used as it’s so far from us. The premier inns seem overpriced so I’m thinking a weeks holiday self catering in the area would be preferably and just attend the wedding whilst away. Not sure yet.

So what’s everyone doing?

We're flying back from Malaga on 2nd January. Does that count?

DH is taking DS skiing in February. I'm having a weekend in Aachen while they're away.

A weekend in Cambridge in March.

Extended family holiday in Grasmere in May.

St Anton followed by Friedrichshafen in August (2 weeks in total).

I'm going to Sardinia by myself for a week in September.

DH will probably ski with a friend for a week but he's seeing how his knee holds up in February before booking anything (he had surgery on it last April).

Yes Malaga counts lol sounds fun for new year.
that sounds like a really good mixture, especially the solo ones.

DD it at uni so DH and I do a trip to Cambodia and Vietnam in March as she isn't interest in SE Asia. Can't wait.

We originally planned a family holiday, one week in August, but she may go away with some friends and DH is helping with a Scout camp so I may just go away on my own for a couple of days. Maybe Copenhagen or Munich as I don't want to go anywhere hot.
DD is having a semester abroad so won't be home until mid-/end July.

DH and I hope for a week in autumn, depending on the location, I may join him on a conference and we add a couple of days afterwards.

We’re off to Vietnam for a month in March. We will fly to Hanoi, spend a few days at Ha Long Bay and Cat Ba Island, then get a sleeper train to Da Nang, then further south to Saigon, then an internal flight back to Hanoi. We are both retired and in good health.

Nothing booked as of now, I am often a fairly last minute booker. Pretty much set in stone is a visit to see my in-laws, we go every 2 years, so probably at least 16 days on my annual leave will be spent on that trip. They live in Australia, but we go in August because of school, so it's a bit of an odd one with it being winter in Australia. We try and have a couple of days somewhere warmer as family time, just the 4 of us, on the way home. That leaves me with max 10 days. I am contemplating an Orlando trip for March, my oldest is in Year 10 but doing 2 GCSEs next summer, so we would probably need to limit the holiday to a week so they have time to also study. I will squeeze in a third trip if I can.

mondaytosunday · 25/09/2026 10:50

It all depends. At the moment my DD hopes to be working in the US for a year after graduating next summer. If this happens we will go to the States for Christmas 2027. My siblings live there and we try and go every other year. Despite not having to pay for car or accommodation it is an expensive trip as we eat out a lot and do side excursions (like a couple days skiing or a trip to NY). We might try and do a Spanish trip (we have a family house there). Other than that my son lives in the IOW so I do a number of trips there for two or three days - does that count?
Sorry that’s not particularly helpful to your circumstances. £2000 would perhaps cover a week in Spain depending on hotel and car hire (I know people will find in and say they got fantastic deals but I am not sacrificing comfort at my age).

BG2015 · 25/09/2026 10:57

We're going to Egypt in March, staying in Makadi Bay where we have stayed before but in a different hotel. It's a lovely area and we're hoping to go up to Cairo this time too. It's costing us £1400 each all inclusive.

Then we are off to Tunisia in August staying at a hotel we stayed in this year (must be good because we have never done this before - always stay somewhere different) because we want to see the total eclipse that will be happening on the 2nd August. If we travel a bit down from Sousse to a place called Sfar this eclipse lasts 5 minutes. We saw this years eclipse on a cruise ship off Spain so want to repeat the experience. Unfortunately because it's August we are paying £1900 as opposed to £1200 when we went in late April this year. It is an amazing adults only hotel though so we are willing to pay the extra.

OneNewEagle · 25/09/2026 12:00

These all sound amazing. I love the eclipse one, I had looked at that for me but I don’t like heat. I had a good look through when the eclipses are and where you can see them.

also Australia in their winter sounds fab, any perfect holiday for me is going somewhere cooler!

I had been considering south of France in January, so slightly warmer than here. We would drive as due to my health I can’t fly atm. Due to all the negative family stuff going on in our lives that’s been put on the back burner for now.

it’s always so interesting what people are doing. As we’ve got no children (I have an adult DC) I thought once I got to my 50s we’d be having more holidays.

I have 2027 already planned! Me. DH and DS9, DD5 by next year. With the kid we need to know in advance what we are doing each school holiday for childcare so I just end up planning the whole years holidays.

May half term - Disneyland Paris and Paris City. 8 days away. £5000 budget - I've worked hard to get this budget and its well above what we usually spend. This one I'm soooooo excited for. I've waited 8 years for this!

July - 5 days camping in Norfolk (£500 including food and spending money)
Start Aug - Weekend in Lincolnshire with my parents (free as they pay)
Aug bank holiday weekend - 4 days camping in Poole. (£500 including food and spending money)

Other than that we might add one or two extra camping weekends is budget allows - doubt it will this year.

SoRestedHeByTheTumTumTree · 25/09/2026 12:38

Long weekend in Naples in February.

Fortnight in Malaysia in April.

Efteling in June with all the kids/grandkids - will probably tack a German roadtrip onto the end of this (just the two of us though!)

Hmmmmwineandchocs · 25/09/2026 12:40

We’re going to Turkey for May half term then in summer we’re going to Tanzania for 3 night safari then on to Zanzibar for a week

RomeoRivers · 25/09/2026 12:46

DC4 is due in Feb so I haven’t booked yet, but I’m looking at Cullinan Belek or Regnum Carya, in Turkey, for May half term.

We go camping for a week in Yorkshire every August.

Will probably go to a Greek island in the summer hols.

WhiteJeans7 · 25/09/2026 12:55

Nothing booked yet, but current plans:

Long weekend in Italy with my best friend, probably in the spring. Either going to Lake Garda/Verona or Rome

Eurocamp, possibly 2, with DH and DD7. Thinking a budget few days in France that we drive to for half term, and a longer trip, maybe more than one site for the other. Either Italy or Croatia.

A long weekend in Greece, possibly with DH, or with my Mum. If it's DH, we'll go to Athens. If I go with Mum, it'll likely be Rhodes.

Enjoy your trip to Paris after saving for so long!

Your camping trips sound fab, if you’ve not been before Poole is beautiful. I’ve got tons of lovely memories of Poole, I used to visit a relation, so one of my happy places.

Your camping trips are in line with what we pay for static caravan sites usually as we go out of season. But last time I looked our favourite site has increased loads.

A German roadtrip is the sort of thing we would like. We’ve done a lot of uk road trips over the years.

Dd finishes GCSEs in mid June so I want to make the most of it. We are going to see family near Lisbon at the end of July for 10 days (not yet booked).

Then I have an eye on a road trip to Morzine or Lake Annecy at the back end of August.

But I would also love to go to Wales or Cornwall. I’m struggling to decide!

DD would love to do an adventurous trip but I have a lot of health issues. Japan would be a possibility in Easter of her Y12 I think.

countrygirl99 · 25/09/2026 13:46

Nepal trekking in March. Yorkshire Dales in April and Tuscany in May all booked. DH is doing a photography trip to South Africa in July. Looking at various options for September. Will probably do a short trip to Finland in January or February but that will be at short notice.

SoRestedHeByTheTumTumTree · 25/09/2026 13:49

@OneNewEagle

We have family in Germany so we’ve done it several times.

Oh finland. Somewhere I would love to go too. I loved Sweden when I visited years ago.

the photography trip sounds great. I suggested one to my DP a few years ago but he’s got into another new hobby which is taking up most of his spare time.

I go to Finland regularly as I have family there. Definitely visit, a mokki by a lake is a great holiday.

Have you been to either before? I’ve done both. If in the holidays I would go for wales as I’m not any good with crowds.
