What holidays are you planning for 2027?

I love the holiday section as so nice to read what everyone is doing. There was a lovely thread a couple of months ago about what everyone had been doing this year, really interesting to read.

So I wondered what does everyone have planned for 2027? And how much are you spending? What part are you most looking forward to? I could do with some inspiration especially and cheering up.

It’s just myself and DP nowadays holidaying. We have only ever had a holiday in the UK in self catering cottages or caravans. The last couple of years due to COL, responsibilities, pets, health problems, work and so much more we have not had a holiday. Just staycations from home with days out, still nice though.

My DP has quite a bit of annual leave still to use and can carry some over to next year. We will probably have the maximum of £1500-£2000 throughout the year for 2027 for holidays, all depends on our mortgage increase. I’m hoping for a week away, five days if it’s substantially cheaper, and a long weekend for that if possible. We have a wedding to attend next autumn depending on work commitments (DP works away a lot) where a couple of days annual leave will need to be used as it’s so far from us. The premier inns seem overpriced so I’m thinking a weeks holiday self catering in the area would be preferably and just attend the wedding whilst away. Not sure yet.

So what’s everyone doing?

Have Valletta and Barbados booked for Jan. Retiring at New Year at 55 so going forward will have plenty of time for many more. We usually average several foreign holidays a year. Definitely more long haul on the cards now. Very lucky.

Enjoy your retirement. I’ve had to stop work early due to my health. but DP is younger than me in his 40s.

@OneNewEagle we did it last year stopping at Rheims and Annecy on the way down, and Dijon and Paris on the way back. We just have to try to organise it around chemo so nothing too exciting or rigorous!!

Good luck with your or your DPs health.

and yes that’s the sort of thing we were going to do but maybe with a couple of days in Germany on the way down. Hopefully we will still get to do it next year.

Not sure the OP may be cheered up by this but hope would understand why my first holiday in 2027 will be to visit Auschwitz where three of my ancestors died in 1942.

I understand. It’s on my list of places I would like to go to to pay my respects. I’ve been to Normandy in the past.

I go to a lot of cemeteries and churches, cathedrals all over the country for similar reasons and social history.

I’m hoping to get to menin gate to pay my respects to everyone including my great great uncle. I’ve been trying to find him on a war memorial in England for years, i still haven’t, but I’ve been doing a bit of research and finally think he’s listed there. These things are important.

We are off on a big trip to Hawaii, I can’t wait.

Where are you going? I went to Big Island and Maui 25 years ago and would love to go again. We looked into it 3 years ago for DD's 16th birthday but the prices were just too much for what we wanted.

OneNewEagle · 25/09/2026 19:24

Thanks for all the inspiration so far I’m going to spend next week having a good browse, DP is now working away unexpectedly (the reason we don’t go on holiday very often,)

We’re hopefully going to Centre Parcs in January/February with DS2, DDIL & DGS who will be 3. However DDIL will be 7/8mths pregnant so we need to see how she’s doing really.

We came back from Menorca on Wednesday, that night we booked to go back next September to the same apartments. I’m disabled, and they were perfect for me so we really want to go back.

We’re going to go on a few weekends away in this country but we don’t know where yet.

Shinyhappyapple · 25/09/2026 20:30

We have some plans.

A flight to Alicante in February but as yet no accommodation or return flight booked as we can’t decide exactly what we want to do.
Then we have a week booked in a villa in Corfu mid May.
Not booked yet but planned are a trip to Bordeaux in September where we will travel out by train but fly back. Then late October/early November a few days in a cheap hotel somewhere in Spain with a friend. DH and I will also have a couple of UK breaks in the summer.

I hope you find him. The daily ceremony at the Menin Gate is very moving.

2027 is dream holiday year and we are off to Japan finally!!!
Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka and beyond. I cannot wait.

whiteroseredrose · 25/09/2026 21:16

About to book flights to Egypt with DH, DS and DD for January. Cairo, Aswan, Luxor and El Alamein.

We are on countdown to retirement, which will include a dog so we want to tick a few places off. So I’m looking at Peru or Japan. Really want to go to Jordan which was annoyingly cancelled this year.

Great reminder to get some proper planning done, thanks @OneNewEagle 😁

We have a trip to Granada for April planned and booked, and pencilled in a Greek island in September.

Probably a bit of Greek island hopping in June. We’ve blown hot and cold on a Norway fjords or Northern Lights cruise for some time, so perhaps that might get a look in. But also quite keen on exploring other parts of Spain, quite fancy Extramadura, though that might be more for 2028.

Also really fancy a trip to Belfast at some point. Haven’t been there in over 40 years, but have fond memories of the warmest welcome despite that being during the Troubles.

Lordofmyflies · 26/09/2026 12:45

We want to go back to Oman in Feb half term but I'm holding off booking that until nearer the time.
Then we have Greece, Pelopennese for a beach holiday in late June.
And then we are exploring Georgia (the country not the state) in September which I'm excited about.

We’re off to Vietnam for a month in March. We will fly to Hanoi, spend a few days at Ha Long Bay and Cat Ba Island, then get a sleeper train to Da Nang, then further south to Saigon, then an internal flight back to Hanoi. We are both retired and in good health.

I’m planning similar for March 28. Cannot do it this year as daughter has GCSEs and I cannot leave her for 2 weeks that close to them. Pondered doing it end of next year but I know March seems to hit the sweet spot weather wise for all areas so I just need to be patient.

SnowFrogJelly · 26/09/2026 12:54

Caribbean cruise in Jan/Feb.. maybe Japan later in the year

pavementpolice · 26/09/2026 13:04

Tenerife in February for DPs birthday. Kos in June for our wedding anniversary and a big family holiday to Turkey for September. I'm really looking forward to all of them!

Namechange6578 · 26/09/2026 13:21

We are currently planning Lapland for December 27. Then we'll also do a week in Spain and a few days UK break.

cuckoolodger · 26/09/2026 13:23

We are off on a 2 week cruise in November coming, then planning on buying a Motorhome /van conversion for getting away next year. Wet have already booked Silverstone for the f1. Hoping to do the NC500 in the six weeks over 10-15 days. Then another cruise with our grandkids in December.

We are going to O'ahu, Kaua'i, Big Island, and Maui, so hoping to get lots of variety. I can't wait as I've wanted to go for ages.

OneNewEagle · 28/09/2026 16:20

Well I’ve actually made a start on some plans!

Couldn’t find anything in the cotswolds we wanted to do for a week for the wedding next autumn, I spent all weekend looking for a week self catering instead of a hotel as the closest were out of our budget. I’ve gone for a premier inn over thirty miles away from the venue instead for two nights so that’s booked. So not wasting any more annual leave, time or money on that.

I’ve also started researching ideas for a weekend away next June. The static caravan site where we usually stay is £1200 for that weekend, unbelievable (it’s not that good). So we definitely won’t be going there. I have no idea how people find nice but cheaper holidays.

I think holiday costs have gone up a lot OP.

We have Egypt in January and Colombia in April. Trying to decide what we do in the summer and Oct half term. I’ll probably go to Ibiza with friends at some point in the summer. DH might go skiing with his mates.

Not sure the OP may be cheered up by this but hope would understand why my first holiday in 2027 will be to visit Auschwitz where three of my ancestors died in 1942.

When we visited Krakow we went to a synagogue that was being renovated. I found it very moving to reflect on how people would meet to worship and be just getting on with life chatting about ordinary things and then the Holocaust happened. I can't remember the name, it was several years ago, but if you find it it's well worth a visit.

MadMAGA · 29/09/2026 15:15

Various weekend trips up to Scotland to visit family. Flights, car and accommodation comes to about £600 each time.

Two weeks in Singapore and Thailand over the Easter holidays. About £15000 for the 4 of us.

One week in Scotland in the summer holidays. About £1.5k.

Nothing else planned but DH and I will have a weekend away somewhere locally at some point.

hby9628 · 29/09/2026 16:01

New Forest in May which I need to book. Not sure about summer. We seem to have a few ideas on the go but can’t decide. Thailand, Italy or I quite like the idea of a roadtrip through Germany. My main problem at the moment is that it’s always left to me to research and plan and I just haven’t got the motivation right now. I’m wondering how long I leave it before someone else sorts it out.
I am going to book the dog with the lady he stays with so at least that’s sorted.

Scotland sounds great, I’ve still never been. My DP has worked there and Ireland over the years a lot so never wants to go to a place where he’s just been working.

New forest is on my list too. And yes it’s the same here I’m left to organise and book everything which means I can’t be bothered half the time. DP is completely capable of booking weekends away for himself camping and travels tor work half the month so I’m not sure what he difference is.
