What holidays are you planning for 2027?

I love the holiday section as so nice to read what everyone is doing. There was a lovely thread a couple of months ago about what everyone had been doing this year, really interesting to read.

So I wondered what does everyone have planned for 2027? And how much are you spending? What part are you most looking forward to? I could do with some inspiration especially and cheering up.

It’s just myself and DP nowadays holidaying. We have only ever had a holiday in the UK in self catering cottages or caravans. The last couple of years due to COL, responsibilities, pets, health problems, work and so much more we have not had a holiday. Just staycations from home with days out, still nice though.

My DP has quite a bit of annual leave still to use and can carry some over to next year. We will probably have the maximum of £1500-£2000 throughout the year for 2027 for holidays, all depends on our mortgage increase. I’m hoping for a week away, five days if it’s substantially cheaper, and a long weekend for that if possible. We have a wedding to attend next autumn depending on work commitments (DP works away a lot) where a couple of days annual leave will need to be used as it’s so far from us. The premier inns seem overpriced so I’m thinking a weeks holiday self catering in the area would be preferably and just attend the wedding whilst away. Not sure yet.

So what’s everyone doing?

I'm so far planning

A city break in Feb with a couple of work friends maybe somewhere like Portugal.

A theatre break in London over Easter. Will pack in a few shows over a few days.

And a week in Marbella with my family late July/early Aug as we are (like a few others on this thread) chasing the total eclipse.

Oh the theatre break does sound good. That’s the sort of thing I should plan. It would be like when you go to the cinema for a double bill.

I like history so I try to ram in a lot of historical places all at once so similar idea.

January ‘27
Florida - just a week in Universal £1000 as I have annual passes, Hilton points, and a cousin who works for an airline

April ‘27
Majorca - a week in the sun £2500 (have my son’s girlfriend and my niece coming too)

May ‘27
Lanzarote - 4 nights taking a long weekend £1300

June ‘27
Portugal - 10 nights, doing the F1 £1800

August ‘27
Florida - 18 nights (up to 21 as not yet booked flights) ballpark £10-12,000 but that will be staying on Disney with full dining plan, car hire, tickets including universal

My husband has a serious holiday problem 🫣 and since we stopped drinking and eating takeaway/expensive meals out, we have been spending £1000 a month less so he seems to be wanting to be on holiday permanently.

I’m booked already for 2027, Marrakech in March - DS is on a ski trip so I’m taking the other teen on an adventure, Portugal for May half term and Croatia end of July for 2 weeks in the summer holidays. Throw in Download festival camping and Isle of Wight festival (both in June) we’ve a busy year ahead 🥳

uggmum · 29/09/2026 16:57

I have the Maldives booked for April. 12 nights in a resort, overwater villa
in June I have 5 nights in Greece in a resort
thinking of a road trip around Canada in Sept with a trip on the glass roof train through the Rockies.
Also 5 nights in the South of France during the summer

Long weekend in Naples in February.

Fortnight in Malaysia in April.

Efteling in June with all the kids/grandkids - will probably tack a German roadtrip onto the end of this (just the two of us though!)

Wow that sounds like my dream year!

Autumnandwintergardening · 29/09/2026 17:15

We have just booked two week cruise in August 2027 🕺 for myself and my husband and our 13 year old. Spain, Madeira, Portugal etc have booked a lovely top of the range cabin with a balcony etc

We did a cruise this summer to Norway and the teenager loved it.

We will book some superb excursions etc and I will love just switching off and being with my two favourite people for two whole weeks x

Probably Madrid and Toledo for New Year (or maybe just thereafter), after we decided it was too hard to take the truck-camper there in Spring/Summer 2026.

7/8 weeks in Spain (probably mainly inland-Spain) in our truck-camper in the Spring. Talking about going down to Andalusia, but that may depend on how high the diesel price has got by then (and also where temperatures are at). Will inevitably collect some Michelin-starred meals and visit some
wineries en route.

Likely an Autumn UK trip (this year was Cornwall for c. 2.5 weeks - enjoyed the Lost Gardens and the Eden Project, but found the UK expensive compared to Spain). Talking about Yorkshire Dales/Moors, maybe Dumfries and Galloway, and/or Inner Hebrides - to be planned nearer the time and weather-dependent.

Some time in my flat in London and DP’s flat in Edinburgh.

Not currently planning anything long-haul as we’ve done SE Asia (Vietnam/Cambodia/Laos/Thailand) and Japan relatively recently - though we are likely to return to Japan again (having lived there >15 years ago) in the not too distant future.

We are overdue a European car road trip, but that may have to be 2028… there’s only so long we can spend away from the garden and pets!

@AliceinNumberland

We're very lucky!

OP, just wanted to say that this is a lovely thread. It's nice to discuss lovely holidays without feeling guilty and to get ideas for new places to visit.

Loving all these holiday ideas!

Easter break: Road trip to the Netherlands with the family. We’re planning to visit Efteling and Beekse Bergen.

May half term: Family camping for a few days in Kent.

Summer holiday: Our annual family trip to New York to visit family and friends, followed by a few days at a lake house in the Catskills with my parents and some extended family.

October half term: We’re planning to book a week-long family trip to Tunisia.

hby9628 · 29/09/2026 18:41

@OneNewEaglethe New Forest is beautiful. It will be our 3rd time. I just feel so peaceful there. It always makes me feel so calm. Gorgeous beaches and walks. It’s our eldests GCSE year so it will be a relaxed week with time for her to study & horse ride too.

hby9628 · 29/09/2026 18:49

@Autumnandwintergardeningwhich cruise line have you booked with? I’m intrigued by the idea of a cruise but also not sure. Worried it might be too peopley!

keepswimming38 · 29/09/2026 18:55

The west coast of Ireland in the campervan we think. We are not bothered about sunbathing.

Thecows · 29/09/2026 19:06

Some lovely holidays here 😊

MadMAGA · 29/09/2026 20:42

@OneNewEagle I'd like to see more of Scotland but visiting family means we always go to the same area. We branch out in that area though and it is lovely.

SmashThePatriarchy · 29/09/2026 20:43

I feel extremely poor reading the replies to this one!

FairViewRosie25 · 29/09/2026 21:15

AllJoyAndNoFun · 29/09/2026 21:18

i might go to Chamonix by myself in June for a week as want to do something trail running and the rest of the fam not keen on that.

TokyoSushi · 29/09/2026 21:23

Ski Austria and Disney & Universal Florida, we’ll be in a GCSE year so have decided to go big!

I know I love it, I’m probably the least well travelled person here and on the lowest of budgets. But it’s so lovely.

Your Easter and May plans are in line with the sort of things we like to do. We were thinking Belgium next year, will have to eat and see if my health gets better and what the prices are like (especially fuel as we like road trips)

We usually stop over for half a day en route to other places a couple of times a year. It’s the highlight of my trip every time and I would prefer to stay there. Sadly I can’t camp due to my health so then it starts getting pricey.

You aren’t. I’m the same.

My budget will be the max of probably a £1000 (keep having unexpected repairs around the house) after two years of not even having a night away. I just put a few pounds away each week and then we see what we can do for our money, usually a static caravan site in off peak season. If I could camp we would be fine as we love road trips but my health won’t allow me to do that.

plus even if you are it’s lovely to read , sometimes I see places I’ve never heard of and go and have a browse. Also some people have a larger budget but there are places you can still go to with less.
