How much was your holiday?

We're looking at booking a last minute holiday. Like going on Monday! But prices seem to still be sky high.
If you've booked/ gone on holiday in the summer holidays, 4/5 star all inclusive for a week somewhere in Europe this year, how much did you pay? Just wondering whether prices have changed compared to people that booked a while ago. 2 adults, 1 child.

Too much, but when I heard an advert on the radio for "our holiday company sale" I re-entered our holiday details again, and it was about 15% more expensive than we paid at Easter. That said, they may have dropped again, as selling at anything above cost right now has to be benificial?

xyz111 · 28/07/2023 21:22

We can't seem to find anything decent under £2600 for the 3 of us. DS is 5, but is the same price as an adult! Would have thought they'd want to flog the last few rooms at the last minute. But I wondered if the fires in Rhodes is also affecting prices, as people looking to change holidays at the last minute so that demand is still there.

We’ve recently booked Spain, 1 week end of August dc is 4 and it’s £3k! Anywhere cheaper didn’t look that nice. First holiday abroad in 5 years and shocked at the prices! 😵

Sotiredmjmmy · 28/07/2023 22:24

1 adult 2 children for £2070, 5 star resort AI, week in August - booked 3 weeks ahead and managed to get 1 free child place

I think the good ones will have gone now, it’s the more average ones left or expensive room categories so pushes the price up

Moveoverdarlin · 28/07/2023 22:27

We booked a really lovely place in Portugal for mid August, it was £4,700 for 2 adults 2 DC. Now the same holiday is £7,900.

We've been looking for over a month now. It's the first year we've had to do a summer holiday holiday as son was in reception class. It's ridiculous!!!! How does anyone do it 🤦🏻‍♀️

We booked with 6 weeks to go in March for April. Kept an eye on prices for our flight and hotel but they only went up.

Sotiredmjmmy · 28/07/2023 22:34

For school holiday dates we’ve found booking early is best, May half term seems to be more consistently better prices and offers if booked around new years/early January, and summer holidays by early March

I risked it this summer but did feel like I had to just pluck for something in the end

Optimist2020 · 28/07/2023 22:37

Booked a week in September for 2 adults (LO is under 2 so free) and it’s cost £2400. That’s a week all inclusive in Greece 4.5*

Think we might have to cut our losses and go next may half term. Don't fancy October and it'll likely be chilly 🥶

Flights are always cheaper 11 months out when they are first released. Waiting means air fares are higher. Fewer seats available. Ditto hotel places. Plus it’s high season. So why not plan for 2024? With the heat in southern Europe why go now? Although I think next year will see more people wanting half term! Although you should get better choice.

JourneyToThePlacentaOfTheEarth · 28/07/2023 22:57

Almost 7k for 5 of us to Mexico. Although older teenagers so no child prices. I'll book early for next year and stay closer to home in the hope of something cheaper

TokyoSushi · 28/07/2023 23:00

£3.2K inc flights for 9 nights in Eurocamp (caravan) in Spain, DH, & DC 10 & 12, booked in March, going in a couple of weeks.

AssertiveGertrude · 28/07/2023 23:00

Doing it ourselves with public transport and hostel and then a few nights at a resort 2800 for two adults two kids !

2chocolateoranges · 28/07/2023 23:05

We booked the beginning of July to go next week and paid £2000 Lanzarote 4 star b&b for 2 adults, priced it last week to see if prices had dropped and cheapest we could get was £2700 for a 2 star self catering!

glad we booked when we did.

IWD23 · 28/07/2023 23:15

£2.5K with "free child's place" booked end May for mid-August holiday

1 week AI on a Greek Isle, looks like a decent hotel, 4*

I looked a couple of weeks later and it had gone up in price. This is the most we've spent on a holiday in the past 4 summers.

scandinav · 28/07/2023 23:22

1 week in a Neilson package holiday in Greece for 2 adults 2 kids. Paid just over 7K. Hotel, most meals, activities including water sports included

SugarPlumpFairy3 · 28/07/2023 23:25

Holiday prices are CRAZY.

I’ve just booked for Aug 2024 and got 10 night all inc in Turkey for 1 adult and 3dc and it was £3100. That was with a free child place!
