Rhodes tomorrow morning

We are due to fly to Rhodes tomorrow morning- going to Ixia at the top of the island. We are staying 3 nights until moving on to another island. Would you go? The resort is quite far away from the fires but I’m still very worried.

I am not wrong! I literally have seen people arriving with my eyes!

There might be empty planes coming too but I am not bloody lying about people arriving ffs.

Haha that poster has read something in the news/on MN, that obviously means they know more than people on the ground 😂

There are obviously both, you were saying there were no empty ones.

It’s all over the news ffs.

Quite. Reputable outlets, too!

Worldgonecrazy · 24/07/2023 11:38

The media in other countries has less hyperbole than the British media. There are plenty of Greek news websites which have English versions available.

I’m not disputing it was all over the news. I’m just saying it’s ridiculous to tell someone currently at Rhodes airport what is happening at Rhodes airport and accuse them of lying about seeing people arrive on planes.

Maybe not in your little bubble, but where I am it’s on the news equivalent to bbc. No wonder you only hear British people complaining about the situation and noone is doing anything to help them getting home. My country is. That is probably why it’s not on the news where you are.

You are absolutely right.

My little bubble?
No need to be rude.
You can make a point without being personal.

Usernamen · 24/07/2023 11:50

People love to whip up panic.

From this thread I have learned that 45% of the island is literally on fire, and not a single person is arriving at Rhodes airport - only empty planes which have come to take all holidaymakers home because all holidaymakers are impacted (because 45% of the island is up in flames) and no one is continuing their holiday nor arriving to start their holiday.

So that’s that.

Tbh @Maireas you were the incredibly rude one, that is the only reason I replied the way I did.

Nope. I wasn't rude.

PoshPineapple · 24/07/2023 11:56

@Catspyjamas17

Agree entirely

Maireas · 24/07/2023 11:56

@whereiswilson - I think you have me confused with another poster. I am never personal, nor "incredibly rude".

Maireas · 24/07/2023 11:58

All I said was "quite reputable outlets" .
If you find that incredibly rude, then I am genuinely perplexed.

curaçao · 24/07/2023 11:58

I would go to the North.yes.

What you would save a 50 year old man before a baby and toddler with their mother? Glad you not in charge of any evacuations.

Ok so what about an elderly woman being evacuated over a 50 year old man?

Or an elderly woman evacuated over an 18 year old man?

I think people should arrive and be evacuated as and when they arrive. Perhaps children should take priority but they should go as a family and not be making someone wait because they happen to be a man. That's still someone's father/husband/son.

Everyone is precious to someone.
