As the title says where is hot for October half term - short flight and short transfer (up to one hour private transport)

I'm thinking Majorca - palma nova

Menorca

Corfu

Portugal

Costa del sol

Costa Blanca

Are any of these a yes or no? Any others can you think of please ?

You’re going to struggle to get reliably hot with that flight time in October half term.

What does hot mean for you?

TheFlis12345 · 14/07/2023 18:03

We went to Seville in early October once and it was in the high 30’s the whole time!

CeeceeBloomingdale · 14/07/2023 18:06

You need to up the flight time and look at canaries. Last October half term was great weather wise, about 24 degrees most days in Ibiza which is much better and drier than usual BUT half term was a week earlier than it is this year for us. During the week we were there most shops (including supermarkets) and restaurants closed for the season. We left on 30th October and the place was a ghost town. You would need to look at Albufeira in the Algarve or Spanish resorts like Benidorm etc that stay open all year if you are staying into November even by a few days. However my money would still be on the Canaries, not much further but less risk with the weather.

Alloveragain3 · 14/07/2023 18:27

No guarantee of warm weather in southern Spain or Portugal then. It can be quite grey and wet.

Is Cape Verde too far?

Karrpt · 14/07/2023 18:27

Where are you flying from?!

PensionPuzzle · 14/07/2023 18:30

I think it's got to be Cyprus or the Canaries. Slightly longer flight maybe (four hours?) but potentially short resort transfers. I certainly wouldn't look at eastern Spain or the balearics, you may get lucky with the Costa del sol especially if you don't mind having a sight-seeing plan B if the weather is more temperate.

We sat in the park in t shirts drinking wine on NYD in Seville.
Amazing place.

Flying from south / Gatwick

Hot would be warm
Like 18-23 would be fine

Don't really want to do a 4 hour flight.

Just want shorter flight and transfer - although it is the last week in October

Marrakech. When I went at the end of October the forecast claimed it was 22-25 degrees average. It was 27-29 degrees.

Bluebellbike · 14/07/2023 20:56

Greece/Greek Islands?

PixiePirate · 14/07/2023 20:57

Agree with pp - Marrakech.

ArcticSkewer · 14/07/2023 20:59

yup Marrakech

Karrpt · 14/07/2023 21:00

"Flying from south / Gatwick"

You'd be in the canaries in 3.5 hours no bother

Karrpt · 14/07/2023 21:03

Ok, 13 minutes over but the transfer times are short and you won't be bitten to death by mozzies and shivering of an evening.

Chewbecca · 14/07/2023 21:04

Nowhere is warm for certain at that time sadly.

Costa del Sol warmer than Blanca and Majorca, Menorca and Portgual. Corfu is pretty shut.

Canary flight is only a touch further but more guaranteed weather and transfers are generally v short. Crete and Cyprus most reliable for Greece.

BarelyLiterate · 14/07/2023 21:04

Cyprus?

Countmeout · 14/07/2023 21:05

Costa del sol is a good bet.
Majorca definitely no.
What do you want to do when you get there?

4.5 hours to Tenerife from Gatwick

midsomermurderess · 14/07/2023 21:07

Crete could still be ok then, or the Dodecanese. The Ionian Islands like Corfu would quite likely be quite wet and windy, a bit chilly even by then and pretty much shut down for the season. Madeira might be with a look too. It and Crete are about 4 hour flights, maybe a bit more.

Karrpt · 14/07/2023 21:12

"4.5 hours to Tenerife from Gatwick"

They give that as the flight time for wiggle room but it's 3.40 usually to lanzarote and today to tenerife it was less than 4

PinkFootstool · 14/07/2023 21:13

The Canary Islands, Cape Verde. Even then not really "hot" but probably warm and meet the rest of the criteria.

Karrpt · 14/07/2023 21:15

So that plane took off 20 minutes later than scheduled and also landed 17 minutes earlier than scheduled.

Standard. The OP would be fucking mad to go looking for sun in Majorca at the end of oct based on an assumption that the scheduled timings of flights to the canaries are accurate

gogomoto · 14/07/2023 21:19

Might be warm (not hot) might be wet and stormy. Weather in October is not reliable in the med
