I was looking to go to the US for a week but the prices were astronomical and out of my price range. So going to Europe for a week. Destination undecided but looking at flights, accommodation and spending money, I'd still be lucky to spend less than £1000.

OP posts:

£5k on a week in Majorca. £2.5k for the (nice) self-catering apartment, £1k for flights, £400 for a hire car and the rest on food and activities.

Do you mind me asking who you’ve booked with? This was one of the places on our wish list but I didn’t think we could do it for that (there are 5 of us too). Thanks if so.

adognamedrover · 31/01/2023 20:09

Disney for 2 adults and 2 children. £8000 plus probably £3000 spending money.
We usually spend £2000 max for a holiday each year so this is the holiday of a lifetime for us!

lemonyfox · 31/01/2023 20:13

£2,200 for a week in Cyprus all inclusive in May, 2 adults and a 2 year old. We'll take minimal extra money with us for spends, but really don't want to be spending much more than we need to considering it's AI.

Oblomov22 · 31/01/2023 20:14

£1100 a week all inclusive for 4, Easter, east Majorca, mega cheap.

£0. No holiday.
Find these threads very divisive and depressing.
Clearly some people are not feeling the cost of living crisis at all.

We haven't been abroad for 5 years. Last year we had a long weekend camping locally, and a week staying with family. I don't feel I'm being divisive to talk about a holiday I've saved really hard for. We both work hard for decent wages but not the massive salaries you regularly see on here (DH is a manual worker, I'm in social care) and travelling is important to me. Our cars are 24 and 15 years old respectively (both needed for work) and we rent in a not so nice area. I'm sure some people not going on holidays choose to spend their money other places. If you don't like reading about it, don't go on threads in the holiday section. I successfully ignored them last year.

£1200 per person, that’s flights and private 3 bed modern villa with a pool.

Elsiebear90 · 31/01/2023 20:19

£10.5k Maldives for two weeks.

FrownedUpon · 31/01/2023 20:23

1.2k for a week in a holiday cottage in Cornwall over Easter
4k for 2 weeks in a villa in France over the summer
Hoping to book a week away in October half term. Not sure where yet. Budget is 1-1.5k.

Jux · 31/01/2023 20:25

Thread was n Active. Tbf I didn't look at topic and assumed it was Chat. Also, OP is asking, so people saying 0 is fair enough.

TiredandLate · 31/01/2023 20:26

Tied to school holidays so £4k ish total for a 7 day med cruise with a couple of nights hotel stay either side. The cruise is all inclusive for 3 people so I think we got a good deal by booking it all separately and using some leftover flight vouchers.

NannyGythaOgg · 31/01/2023 20:27

Turkey in May
Return flights £210 each for me and my daughter

Bed and breakfast, not yet booked but will be about £20 per night for a shared room with continental breakfast in a cheap and cheerful hotel. We're going for 11 nights.
Plus transfers from Dalaman Airport to Hisaronu, which will be around £70 return for a private taxi. A bit of a luxury but everything else is on a shoestring.

So for 2 of us about £700. Plus spending money and transport to and parking at Manchester Airport.

Jenniferturkington · 31/01/2023 20:28

Our flights are with various airlines- Lufthansa/ air Canada/ American - and are indirect. Booked through Travel Up (found on Skyscanner). Accommodation all booked separately through booking.com (and is basic). Car hire is $50 a day.

Sorry, that was replying to @NotThisWeekSatan

wtfisgoingonhere21 · 31/01/2023 20:35

@Macaroni46

There was a post earlier where someone was asking a genuine question and got jumped on by people for daring to not be living in poverty Hmm

I'm not
Living on the breadline however I'm not having a holiday either but I don't read these posts and reply with bitter negative comments because some people "clearly"as you put it aren't feeling the pinch.

Despite what media coverage says there are people still spending on things so if a holiday is really important people are forfeiting other things like eating out, coffees out,day trips etc etc.

Justme10 · 31/01/2023 20:36

2k for 2 adults and 2 children to Disneyland Paris, that's flights, on site accommodation and park tickets for 4 days. Plus spending money.

I haven't been abroad in 6 years and this will be the kids first holiday abroad so very excited Grin

Funkyslippers · 31/01/2023 20:36

Hoping for a 7 night all Inc to Greece for around £5k in the summer

OFGS then don't read them - you have NO IDEA what people have done or how long they have saved to get a holiday!

Creamcrackersandricecakes · 31/01/2023 20:43

3 days in the South of France, followed by 4 days in Barcelona in July. Just me and DD - DH can't get the time off. Hotels are costing £900, (£400/£500), and we're travelling by train which will be very cheap as DH works for a rail company. Heavily discounted / free European train travel for the family is one of the few perks!! I'll also probably budget around £500-£700 for food and spends.

Heatherbell1978 · 31/01/2023 20:44

£4.5k on an all-inclusive holiday in Turkey for 2 adults and 2 kids. Same holiday costs £6.7k now so I'm glad we booked early. On top of that we have 2 long weekends planned not far away so additional £1k on top of that.
