I was looking to go to the US for a week but the prices were astronomical and out of my price range. So going to Europe for a week. Destination undecided but looking at flights, accommodation and spending money, I'd still be lucky to spend less than £1000.

Off to Spain at half term. Our own property but around £800 for flights and car hire.
Italy in August, Villa £6k not booked flights yet or car but probably around £1k more.
No idea about food for that yet

ZeroFucksGivenToday · 31/01/2023 18:40

Me and DD age 9.

just done iceland for 5 days - hotel, flights and transfers for £960. Spending money £600 though as Iceland is hugely expensive.

Cruise in summer. Balcony cabin £2600

Butlins at October half term - Mon-fri £330 including dining plan and VIP passes.

Considering a week somewhere in May too. Looked at New York but just out of reach at the moment. May do UK break instead.

Greycatclub · 31/01/2023 18:41

Disney Cruise £5k ish

£0. No holiday.
Find these threads very divisive and depressing.
Clearly some people are not feeling the cost of living crisis at all.

The thread is in the ‘Holidays’ topic so people talk about holidays. And even if it wasn’t should people not be able to talk about anything in case others can’t have those things? Ridiculous.

Heyahun · 31/01/2023 18:42

With our holidays I’m never sure how much it ends up being as we book it in stages

so for example this year Japan a we booked the flights almost a year ago using a companion voucher we got with our ba Amex - so got those for essentially half price (paid 700 total for 2 adults and an under 2

then we started chipping away at it booking a hotel here and there (Disneyland/rail pass etc)

all spread our over the year it doesn’t seem as bad I suppose that’s how I always look at it

Mylittlesandwich · 31/01/2023 18:43

£200 for a week self catering in Northumberland. Paid off in monthly instalments. Food budget will be slightly more than we would have spent for a week at home. If there's money spare we might have a couple of cocktails as I'm away over my birthday. I'm delighted that we're getting away this year as we didn't manage last year.

Winemygoodenemy · 31/01/2023 18:43

£4k all inclusive Mexico for 2 weeks. Not been on a 2 week holiday in 10 years. Normally abroad to visit family or 5 days to visit friends or city break.

thought not had a chill out holiday in years. Treated ourselves to upgrades. But did book during sakes and we got £1k off holiday. Moving house in autumn and planning kids so treated ourselves while we can. Can’t do this next year.

Oatsamazing · 31/01/2023 18:59

£169 for 3 nights at a parkdean resort booked so far. Will hopefully do some camping this year too. Excited to take my DD 2 on some adventures Grin

Blueey · 31/01/2023 19:02

Holiday cost is £2k plus £1.5k spending money (self catering) so it's going to end up around £3.5k for two weeks in Sardinia for two adults, two kids. I've paid for things in bits - half the accommodation cost was paid a few months ago, flights about three months ago, then just booked the car. I feel lucky we've been able to save and pay for things in bits. We are doing it during school term though so there will be a fine to pay when we get back. Still cheaper though.

£900 self catering accommodation
£300ish flights for 2 adults 2 kids
£800 car hire

PurBal · 31/01/2023 19:03

Taking advantage of family members taking us on holiday and them owning property in holiday locations. All in the UK. Will be about £1200 to do around £5000 worth of holiday. A week away self catering plus a 3 hotel weekend breaks.

marriednotdead · 31/01/2023 19:04

Budgeted £12k for a month in Australia for two of us, our DCs are grown up and this is a once in a lifetime trip that we've saved really hard for. Around £5k of that is multiple flights and car hire, another £2k on self catering accommodation and the rest will be on food and excursions.

I bought a decent secondhand tent last year to share with the family so our next break may well involve that.

VogueDarling · 31/01/2023 19:06

2 weeks AI Turkey 5* 8.5k 3 of us
1 week Greece AI of us 4k
Long weekend in Spain 2k 2 of us

CleaningOutMyCloset · 31/01/2023 19:06

A week in Tenerife, 2 adult and 1dc, £2500

verdantverdure · 31/01/2023 19:06

No Holiday.

The couple of thousand we'd saved for a holiday is going towards the increased mortgage payment and increased energy bill.

Along with the money we used to spend on all extras really.

Hedgehogproblems · 31/01/2023 19:10

Florida for 2 weeks - can’t quite bring myself to total it all up 😂
Cornwall for a week in August- hopefully under £2k
Centre parcs later in the year for half term - £1900 for the lodge that we are sharing with friends.

beakyboo10 · 31/01/2023 19:13

£4k for 7 nights all inclusive in Greece (2 adults, 2 children).

PurplePinecone · 31/01/2023 19:14

£2k all inclusive in Turkey for family Of 4 in Easter hols for a week

Knickerthief1 · 31/01/2023 19:16

£1800 total cost for flights and accommodation for 3 adults and 1 child, 7 nights Easter week to Croatia (Dalmatian coast). Self catering but accommodation with a kitchen. I thought that was a good price.

And £600 total for 4 nights in Krakow, 2 adults and one child October half term.

Parky04 · 31/01/2023 19:17

£1000 for a week for 2 people in Dubrovnik.

LadyJ2023 · 31/01/2023 19:18

Edinburgh 3 nights March £120 Premier Inn me n hubby

Holiday cottage May 2 weeks £400 for 7 of us but do know owner so got discounted a lot

September 2 weeks Scotland £650 Holiday cottage

And a few 2 nighters here n there.

Hubby works hard and im currently home, we pay the bills then what's left treat the kids and ourselves. We have to find cheaper places compared to before bills went up astronomically as getting into debt isn't an option for us Usually we go abroad to Malta,Tenerifre but with 3 babies not this year. We pay for all our stays thru monthly agencies so by the time we go all paid for. We cut out all luxuries recently as we prefer going away with our kids making new adventures and memory's.

OxanaVorontsova · 31/01/2023 19:18

Villa with pool in SW France for 2 weeks in August, with tunnel, fuel, tolls, overnight hotel each way around £4000, 4 adults.

whiteroseredrose · 31/01/2023 19:21

Hopefully Mexico for 12 nights early December. I've booked (cancellable) accommodation but not flights. It will probably be about £6,000 with food on top for 4 of us (inc adult DC). The holiday is instead of a ring for my silver wedding anniversary.

We were supposed to have a long weekend in Krakow next week (about £500) but EasyJet cancelled the flights.

Justalittlebitduckling · 31/01/2023 19:27

Euro camp. Delighted by how affordable it is.

Onthegrid · 31/01/2023 19:29

Our holiday totals me and Dh if you include where we take our adult DC and partners will be over £20k this year. Yes I realise that I am very fortunate but having seen people close to me die young or become unable to travel I am fitting in what I can as soon as possible.
