Do you have a drink at the airport if flying early morning or not?
I know lots of people have a pint with their breakfast at spoons.

Always. Tradition.

The three times it's ok to drink in the morning: your wedding day, at the cricket and at the airport.

CatJumperTwat · 22/01/2023 16:01

Definitely not. I'd do anything to minimise my chances of needing to pee on a plane.

No, I am not an alcoholic nor do I need alcohol to enjoy a holiday.

I feel like you or someone close to you has had a bad relationship with alcohol.

Do you often refer to people who drink alcohol as an alcoholics?

I might have a pint at the airport, one on the plane and then not drink the rest of the holiday but by your logic, I'm an alcoholic.

Jamieukk · 22/01/2023 16:07

I used to do it a lot. A pint(s) before flight was a ritual.

Not anymore.. I don't see the point. Its about £6 a pint at airports and I can never just have one.

Also I hate having to get up to piss on the plane all the time.

Emmamoo89 · 22/01/2023 16:08

Yes but not a pint. Glass of wine

SiobhanSharpe · 22/01/2023 16:10

On one memorable early morning BA flight from Stansted to Faro we found there were a total of eight people on board!
Four of them were in Club Europe so at the front of the plane and the cabin crew said we could sit where we liked but why not go just a couple of rows behind the Club seats? So we did and found ourselves plied with buck's fizz and then champagne (DH had beer) with the steward constantly refilling our glasses.
It was actually a little difficult -- far too much for me that early in the morning.😜

BA doesn't operate that service any more -- I wonder why not?
(We got some food too.)

By that logic nobody can even discuss foreign holidays.

Jewelanemone · 22/01/2023 16:11

Always. Cocktail or prosecco. Time has no meaning when you're inside an airport, it's the law.

You missed the glass of Buck's Fizz on Xmas morning.

You missed the glass of Buck's Fizz on Xmas morning.

Plus new year, birthdays, every day on holiday if you want…

afinethingindeed · 22/01/2023 16:15

Always! I love to start a holiday with a glass of fizz at the airport :) if I went on holiday more frequently then perhaps I wouldn't. I don't think any harm will come from having an early drink once every year or so!

Prettypaisleyslippers · 22/01/2023 16:17

I’m secretly a bit nervous flying so generally chug a Prosecco and a g&t before take off. Whatever the time.

Notimeforaname · 22/01/2023 16:18

Did you really need to let everyone know that you've got the money to use airport lounges or were you worried that we might think you were drinking in Wetherspoon's like the people the OP had noticed

Oh ffs. What a moan bag.

I always have a drink in the airport op, then again on the plane.
Holiday begins at the airport and once on holiday, we buy what we want, whenever we want.

BiteyShark · 22/01/2023 16:19

Absolutely. The holiday starts just after security and as we use a lounge, which means free food and drink, it would be impolite not to 😁

PatientlyWaiting21 · 22/01/2023 16:20

Yep everytime, it’s the law.

CrackersCheeseAndWinePlease · 22/01/2023 16:20

Yep, always have a drink in the airport, I never drink alcohol on the plane though

puttingontheritz · 22/01/2023 16:21

adriftabroad · 22/01/2023 15:29

Italy, Spain, France, of course you can.

Love a drinin the morning, funnily enough, not at night 😎Would not want beer though!

Really? In France? I'm trying to visualize the various French airports I've been in and there aren't massive food courts like in the UK, so perhaps you aren't confronted with people and their pints, but I can't think of anywhere where I've seen people drinking alcohol in the morning. Whereas last time I flew out of the UK, I had trouble finding anywhere to sit that wasn't a food place, very little just normal seating, in Paris it was hard to find anywhere to eat but I couldn't have done loads of shopping. I can't imagine this question on magicmaman either!

Margo34 · 22/01/2023 16:21

Yes - a mimosa with breakfast at the airport tells me holidays are here!

pocketvenuss · 22/01/2023 16:23

No. Not on the plane. I don't really get this need for alcohol so many people display

dudsville · 22/01/2023 16:25

I like the notion, it sounds festive/celebratory to me, but it never occurs to me to do it!

Wexone · 22/01/2023 16:28

Lord no couldntn stomach the thought of alcohol in the morning and don't get the insta holiday posts of pints at 6am. maybe will have a bellini or processco at lunch but never in the morning. that's just me.

MyDogStoodOnABee · 22/01/2023 16:29

No, I find the ‘it has to be done’ airport lounge Facebook posts at 4am
all a bit c̶h̶a̶v̶t̶a̶s̶t̶i̶c̶ sad.

pocketvenuss · 22/01/2023 16:23

I don't do it but does it indicate a 'need'? I mean my rule is that I'm not allowed BK burgers unless I'm travelling. It's fun and bad for me and would be unhealthy on the regular. So holidays it is.

I assume other people do that with alcohol in the daytime.

Littleoxforddictionary · 22/01/2023 16:35

My holidays recently have all involved a hire car at the other end, so no

babyyodaxmas · 22/01/2023 16:39

Never too busy duty free shopping. Usually have a coffee.
