It's a bit too hot in Spain....where to go in 2023??

So, currently on day 8 of a 10 day all inclusive in Spain. It's hot. So hot the kids don't want to leave the complex which I get. It's also making my eldest a bit grumpy. She's happy in the pool but in all honestly I'm getting cabin fever and I think they are getting a bit bored.
Next year we were thinking of going to the vendee area for 14 nights. We did it in 2019 and we had the most amazing hol. Temp was around 28 degrees & we had the car so we could travel to beaches etc. However, I notice that Vendee is a similar temp to Spain (37degrees) this year so it could possibly cause similar problems

So, my query is this.....where should we consider for next august that will be a little cooler to allow us to explore & will be sunny but not baking hot. Happy to fly or drive. Maybe northern France but I have bad childhood memories of holidays in the rain in Brittany! Austria? Any amazing gems appreciated.

Atlantic cools things down a bit I'd imagine?

It certainly helps moderate extremes.

We’re near Bordeaux and it’s been perfect weather. A couple of days of really hot, a few days of around 27 and now a few days of cloud and 22-24 degrees.

Have been able to sunbathe, surf, but have still had a couple of days of exploring the local area on bikes on the cooler days.

next week weather looking cooler and cloudy though so the heat isn’t guaranteed here if that’s really important to you.

It's normally a lit hotter than that in Bordeaux in August, we've got a place nearby and it often tops high 30s even 40 in august

Achensee and the Zillertal in Austria are wonderful - and even when it's hot you get the breeze off the lake at Achensee.

We were there for two weeks until the end of July- blissful. Enjoy the rest of your holiday

Thank you - we will!

This is around my 15th visit to this area (up and down the coast within about 30 miles ) having been coming here for most my adult life and to me this is pretty typical of the weather we’ve had every time.

guess we must have just been lucky.

Thé Gironde has been on fire for weeks. Temperatures have been in the 40’s. You have been very lucky indeed.
