Current passport waiting time

Hi just applied for my passport to be renewed and for my sons first passport, I used check and send through the post office. Does anyone know how long they are taking at the moment? Thank you!

ds(18) applied online 19/4, sent old passport (expired 5 years ago) the next day 2nd class stamp. Got passport received email on 1/5.

Got a "passport approved, being printed" email this morning 4/5. Haven't been asked for a counter signatory even thought the last passport photo was when he was 9 years old.

All seems to be progressing quite quickly for him.

Anyone dealing with Durham? We’re having a bit of a nightmare with my son’s first passport. The system is not confirming (2nd lot) of documents signed for on 5th April, automated messages every other day reminding me to send something they confirmed receipt of in March. I’ve tried phone calls and messages using the contact form to clarify whether it’s lost or they need something else, but I keep getting told the message has been passed to the relevant team and they’ll be in touch if needed… then nothing.

DS18 first adult passport took exactly 3 weeks from Liverpool. This included 2 bank holidays and a 4 day delay to have his online photos id’s as he looked very different from his old child passport (it took him 4 days to ask a teacher!).

DD15 Sent hers 14 days ago to Glasgow and we are still at the ‘we’ve received your old passport stage’.

Just a warning, we went from your passport is printed, sent and arrived in 48 hours. Wasn’t expecting doorbell to be rung at 7.15 am this morning! Everyone was either in the shower or on the loo, mad scramble 😂.

Sent to Bootle beginning of April, new passport adult renewal back in two weeks. Still havent had my old passport back yet, and i like to save them!
Done online, paid for tracked delivery.

Update on my kids passport saga:

Yesterday we finally received DD's renewal that had to be reissued due to a spelling mistake.

Today I received a text to say that DS's docs had been received - they were signed for on 3 March!!! It's now saying it's being processed.

Praying that we get it within 2 weeks but that might be wishful thinking.

@UsernameIsAlreadyTaken not rtft but if you are travelling in 2 weeks you can apply for an upgrade. Call the helpline and they will refer you and give you an email to arrange it

Yes this is what we did. DH got through to someone 2 days before travel date and they did this for us. He has to go to the passport office the next day to collect it in person - they printed it while he was there!

I applied online for an adult renewal on 19 April. Sent documents immediately and they were signed for on 20 April.

Yesterday I got 'we've received your documents ' email.

Today I got an email asking for proof of my name change. Except my name change was 2 decades and 2 other adult passport renewals ago. I'm very confused. Could not even get into a phone queue there today, just kept telling me they weren't taking calls as they're so busy.

I guess I'll send them my birth and marriage certificates but this is very odd. On top of this being my 3rd UK adult passport renewal in this name they also have my US passport which is in the same name.... and of course it'll be another 2 weeks before they even acknowledge receipt of the stuff i send, let alone confirm it's what they want. Not amused.

Online child renewal.
Sent on 13/4, arrived today.
3 weeks 1 day (inc. 3 bank holidays).

Received on 19th April
Approved 6th May - one month after posting

as others said, mine went straight from received to approved (no processing in the middle)
